My friend and I walked into Crand River Cigar just looking to grab a few cigars for a men’s night out. When I walked in I saw a fine establishment with a macho, yet welcoming, auora. With leather couches in the back and two large HD TVs, it was evident that this would be the place to cach the big game while indulging on some fine cigars. We were promptly greeted by the owner. He was extremely nice as he offered my friend and I a spot to watch the football game. Although we are relatively inexperienced in the cigar department, he was completely helpful and unassuming. As for the cigars, they were in a humidity controlled room inside of the shop. The assortment was as good as the price. With a wide variety of fine, well-​priced cigars, kind staff, and an inviting, yet genuine, «cigar» vibe I will most definitely be returning to Grand River Cigar.

Super friendly. And an awesome foosball table. The guys there are the best lifters around.

This is really the only place I would go in west Michigan to enjoy a cigar and watch to the game. They have a great selection of cigars from Premium Pappy Van Winkle (barrel fermented cigar) s to your more common options. So they have your budget covered. I like the multiple seating areas too
Given what I’ve already mentioned it gets better. The owners and regulars are great too. I don’t always have a group I go with. You can just stop in and shoot the breeze too. It is a fun group and a great place.
I am happy GR has this fine destination.
PS they are also next door to the restaurant that boasts Michigan’s best Burger (USA TODAY). #winning

I wanted to share with you all the absolute lack of caring and customer service that I just received at the hands of Grand River Cigar. I hurried as quickly as I could, speeding to get there after I got out of work, since a friend of mine just had a baby earlier than expected. I got there with what I thought would be ten minutes to spare, only to be greeted by a locked door that I had to knock on several times to get ANY response from, despite the open sign still being lit and the posted hours still stating that they were open. Upon finally being greeted at the door, I was just told «Sorry, we’re closed.» I stated that I had come as quickly as I could and that I was just trying to get something as a celebratory present for a friend of mine, to which the lady said «Well, we’ve already shut down our POS for the night so we don’t have any way of tracking what you buy.» Because, apparently, pens and paper are a foreign concept, and it’s unthinkable that a sale could be entered the next day. Upon pleading that I knew what I was looking for and explaining that I would pay cash, wouldn’t even ask for change from the $ 50 bill in my pocket despite the fact that what I was going to purchase probably wouldn’t have exceeded $ 30, I was still turned away without a thing to show of the trip. If you’re in the Grand Rapids area and don’t want to endure this utter lack of care for a customer’s situation, by all means avoid this place. If I could give them negative stars on here I would.

First visit and came back three times. Great to have indoor smoking lounge during winter in MI. Comfortable seating to chat with friends and burn a good stick. Shoe shine available. Large screen TV to watch or read a book. Friendly greeting from staff and other smokers. I will go back next time in town.

Great little cigar shop! Friendly atmosphere with nice leather covered seating arrangement with plenty of space to relax. Selection of «good» cigars without all the low end garbage cluttering up a really nice, clean, walk-​in humidor. I picked up Opus X, Avo, Jaime Garcia (creators of the «My Father» line of cigars) and a Don Pepin for starters. Also available were Ashton VSG/​ESG, Rocky Patel, Arturo Fuente and quite a few other decent labels. Overall a pleasurable experience. One additional benefit… it’s BYOB! So if you like cognac, scotch or whatever else with your cigars, bring it along.

I returned to Grand River Cigar a few evenings after I wrote this and talked with the proprietor for a bit. I was searching for someone who might be able to repair or tighten the stem on my pipe. He was extremely helpful and even gave me a number and address for a competitor who catered more to pipe smokers. Now THAT is uncommon for sure!
These guys are one of a kind in terms of customer service. Stop in and see ‘em if you’re ever in Grand Rapids.

Awesome place. Great owners. I have never been here and I am not from Grand Rapids. I was made to feel completely at home here.
The environment is comfortable with a great selection of cigars. I find it hard to believe they would treat anyone negatively unless prevoked.
Definitely my go to place in GR for a good Cigar!
