I went with a group to take advantage of their buffet, which runs from 11AM to 3PM daily, and which costs $ 11 per per person on weekends, and $ 9 per person the rest of the week. From the other Indian buffets I’ve visited around town, this price is perfectly in line with the rest of the market. Despite that, Curry Kitchen actually represents a slightly better value than some, because it seems that for many Indian buffets, the only meat options are chicken dishes. On my visit to Curry Kitchen, there were four meat dishes, and three were predictably chicken, but they also had a fantastic goat curry(bone in, so use caution). All told, there were eight main hot dishes, half of them being vegetarian, as well as two rice selections(plain basmati and vegetable rice pulao), vegetable pakora, salad with classic Indian condiments, gulab jamun, and mango lassi. On both of my trips to the buffet serving area, the chili chicken looked like it needed refilling, so I didn’t have the chance to try that. Otherwise, I noticed other dishes running low were promptly replaced. Two of the dishes really impressed me — the goat curry and the malai kofta. While the vegetarian kofta balls were fairly bland, the creamy onion and cashew sauce they were in was fantastic over rice. I’ve not tried anything like it, at least that I can recall, so I’m not sure how it compares to similar offerings elsewhere. But I’ve had my fair share of goat, including a few goat curries, and this was the best preparation I’ve had by a good bit. Everything else I sampled was well flavored and authentic as best I could tell. It was also much appreciated that the mango lassi was included in the buffet price, which is very rarely the case. But I would note that if you like your Indian food spicy, this buffet won’t deliver on that front. I assume they have spicy options on their dinner menu, but nothing I tried had anything above the very mildest bit of heat. Lastly, I think service was quite good for a buffet. We were seated right away, and poured water instantly, with a pitcher being left at our table so that we could refill our cups as we saw fit. Plates were quickly cleared away, and there was no delay in getting the bill once requested. From a service point of view, my only suggestion is that they label which dishes are vegetarian at the buffet, as in the absence of such information, a member of my party had to pull aside a server to ask.

Not bad. I think the only Indian place in Grand Rapids that actually has goat curry on the buffet sometimes. The only thing holding it back from five stars is that I’ve had better chicken tikka masala and better naan at other places in G Rapids.

My favorite Indian lunch buffet in GR. Price is fair and their offerings seem to rotate regularly. The dishes aren’t the most uniquely flavored that you’ll ever have, but they are consistently good, nonetheless. The staff aren’t the friendliest guys in the world either, but they are attentive and efficient. Definitely worth a visit.

During my college years this restaurant has become my second home, which is probably weird for everyone. The food is authentic and excellent every time. The staff is amazing. *I’m winking at you, Sanjay* I could eat here everyday. The lunch buffet never disappoints and the vegetarian dishes are on fleek. Once you get a taste of Curry Kitchen you will not go to any other Indian restaurant in GR.

Best Indian food in town by far. But about %20 of the time they can be REALLY slow and have terrible service. Way better than Bombay either way.

When I first went there I thought little of it but people kept recommending it so I went back and it was great. I tried the mango lamb. They have things that other places don’t serve. The lunch buffet is worth coming to. A small place fill with people from the Indian subcontinent

Really enjoyed the food here! The décor and ambiance was nothing special… service was ‘meh’ at best, but again the food was delicious! We ordered the Veggie Platter appetizer, Garlic Naan, Buttered Chicken, and Chicken Tandoori. Everything came out hot and fresh, and we requested for medium spice level, which was perfect!

This place is amazing!!! Either lunch buffet or regular menu. The food is so delicious and they have a huge variety. The only thing that may can be improved is the interior is a little cramped inside and can feel cluttered. Otherwise, staff are very attentive and this is one of the best Indian restaurants in GR!

We visited Curry Kitchen on Sunday for their buffet. We arrived around 215PM and were able to be seated right away. There were 3 other tables and a larger group, but still plenty of room. They have a large selection on their buffet, and it was all hot and full! Lots of sauces, salad, desserts, and at least 8 main selections. The bring you naan to your table that is hot and fresh. Very attentive at removing plates while you are at the buffet, too. All in all, amazing food, great service, and fun experience.

The first thing I noticed, was the smell, not good. The ambience is also kind of strange. This place lacks speedy service due to a slow kitchen. The place was empty and the three dishes we ordered, which were mediocre at best, took too long to prepare. The samosas were greasy, took too long to receive and they did not have much flavor. The garlic naan was ok. The aloo gobi was eh, the Chana Marsala was not good however the palak paneer was ok. The food gets three stars, the service(kitchen) gets two stars and the price for menu items gets three stars.

This place rules. One of my favorites in town. Don’t listen to the self absorbed Unilocal activists on here. If you like indian food, this place is a great choice.

I’m going to update this. I went there again couple days later with a friend to catch their lunch buffet special and I must say this was very good. We showed up right when it started and food was very good and fresh. I suppose don’t get take out from this place. Id suggest only go if you’ll make that lunch special

Ordered lunch to go this past saturday, I had the veggie. Samosas which were average, the naan was good, but the paneer tiki masala and mango lamb were excellent. Not my first time here and definitely won’t be my last. I’d been craving Indian for a while and this hot the spot!

I honestly can not get ENOUGH of their Chicken Tikka, from their menu. I have also introduced 6 other people to Curry Kitchen and have gotten them all hooked as well. They have such great portions too. I always have lunch for the next day. It is a staple for me to get their Chicken Tikka, Cheesy Naan and a Mango Lasie when I go… and I would go at least once a week if it was up to me. In fact, totally getting their takeout tonight!

I had the lunch buffet right before their closing at 3pm. The staff was so attentive, and the food was still hot. Great option for a vegetarian!!! The naan and the paneer were both worthy of being bragged about.

Appetizer — Fish Pakora — a bit on the greasy side due to the chickpea batter but fantastic flavors and spice. Shockingly large servings — this is an appetizer for 3 or even 4 people. This appetizer will make the English want to slit their wrists over the stuff that they pass off for«fish and chips». Entrees — Butter Chicken(in a mild creamy tomato sauce) and Bhuna Lamb in a tomato base(5⁄5 heat). Both were outstanding, bursting with flavor. A side of Naan allowed us to wipe the plates clean. For a Thursday night, it wasn’t very crowded(about half full) but that worked to our favor. Service was very good with many of the Staff pitching in to help ensure that we never short of anything we needed. Things seemed to move at a slower pace than most other restaurants but we didn’t mind as there was no need to rush. The ceiling alone is worth a trip to see — beautiful. I’ve eaten their lunch buffet and I confess that it was good but average. The dinner menu was much better and I’m anxious to try this place again.

I ordered spice level 1 not wanting to get too spicy but next time I’ll do 2 to add a little kick. Food was very good. Service is a little slow but we weren’t in a hurry. It is another culture, so be patient.

The fairly low rating is based as much on the poor service and value as the food. I’ve been to many Indian restaurants and my standards are accordingly high for Indian fare. I’ve been here twice before, but was called away the second time before I actually got to eat, so I didn’t want to write a review with only a bit of exposure. A group of Unilocalers met here today for dinner. We were sat by the window and enjoyed some conversation while waiting for the rest of our party to arrive. After the 4th had arrived, a server inadvertently tipped over a glass of water and saturated her. She did not complain and went to the restroom to clean up, but I was somewhat taken aback at the lack of concern the two servers showed for our companion. I didn’t note any apology and we actually had to suggest moving to another table as our hosts simply began wiping up without saying much. After moving to a booth, we continued with our meal. None of our party seemed outwardly bothered by this, but poor service is a huge issue in the restaurant biz and I made a mental note. We got vegetable samosas and chicken pakora for appetizers. The samosas were decent, the chicken pakora was essentially a plate of fried chicken fingers — not what I had been hoping for, but they were edible. We each got a different dish: chicken vindaloo, chicken korma, butter chicken and chicken tikka. We shared the dishes and so got to sample a broader range of the food. I felt the butter chicken was the best dish of the night. It was actually one of the better examples of butter chicken I’ve had. The other plates, however, were of average quality and tended to be over-salted. The chicken tikka was especially salty and I’m still thirsty several hours after the meal. I had to leave early before dessert and so cannot comment on that. 2.5 stars for the food, 1.5 stars for the service. 1.5 stars for value.

Worst restaurant ever. Period. Visit only if you want to be insulted by the staff. This was the worst restaurant I have ever been to. We were a group of 15 people and wanted to try something different. So we asked the server about the suggestion. He response was — everything that we have is on the menu, go through it. We were taken aback by the answer but we ignored his behavior. Next, When our elderly parents asked for something, to which the server responded rudely. There a quite a few similar incidents that were over the top. So, I decided to confront the sever and demanded to speak with the manager or owner. To this, we were told that there were none and were asked to post the reviews online for any issues. I tried to confront the server for his behavior but he didn’t seem to care about it. Per him, his behavior was appropriate and that was how he would treat all his customers. In all, it was a terrible experience and I would never go back. I would say that go to this restaurant if you want to get insulted by the rude server.
