Well guess who we had today, Ruben, not worth the big one dollar tip that my husband gave him. The sad thing is that the management has never contacted me yet. This meal was great, but the service was very poor. We have been to this restaurant probably ten times since October, and I never want him again. Deb

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Michigan, hands down. Amazing food, great service, and very affordable prices.

Probably one of the worst meals I’ve had. The tortillas actually had a foul odor to them and were extremely dry. Orders came not as requested. Would not recommend

This is my favorite lunch time restaurant — great food and service. Sometimes I order the fajitas, often the enchiladas or a taco salad. I enjoy them all and the menu is vast .My favorite is the delicious salsa that is served when you sit down with crispy tortilla chips. Family owned restaurant and they take great pride in their food quality. This is a *go to *for visiting friends and family for dinner as well.

So I decided come in and try this place out. The food was ok… The reason I give it a 2 star is basically because our waitress was extremely nice and a sweet heart about the mistakes that were occurring in the kitchen. I ordered the chicken chimichangas with no tomato and my girlfriend ordered the carne asada tacos with no bean just extra rice. Well it’s starts out I get tomatoes and she gets beans not extra rice. You know what not a big deal it happens. Then as I start eating my chimichangas I bite into a 1 inch sized boned. It was completely unappetizing. The worst part the only thing the restaurant could do for us was take 4 $ off our total bill. Just not a good experience overall.

I was craving authentic Mexican food, so my boyfriend and I found this place. We were seated immediately and had EXCELLENT service. Our waitress, Deborah, was so nice, knowledgable and checked in appropriately(not too much and not m.i.a). We ordered margaritas because why not? Those were delicious but not quite strong enough for my taste. The food came quickly and we had homemade tortilla chips and salsa to hold is over until then. Our food was good but not the best we’ve ever had. Although their daily homemade refried beans were the bomb. Overall I’d say a good find for authentic Mexican and good food.

The food is excellent. This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Grand Rapids. However I don’t plan on going again because the service is the worst I have ever experienced on numerous occasions. If your willing to wait about double the average wait time for your food Than it’s worth it.

Last night I was hoping to try Thai Express for the first time. It was closed. Maybe it’s closed for good — I don’t know, but being closed a 7:30 on a Saturday night is not a good sign. So I drove around looking for something else in the vicinity. I stumbled upon Cabana Tres Amigos. I was surprised by how large the restaurant was inside, and at how packed it was. Good news! I was seated right away only because I was by myself. Others were waiting for larger tables. The menu was pretty standard for a Mexican restaurant, if not even a larger selection than most I have seen. I was greeted by the server quickly and professionally. I asked him a couple of questions about a few items on the menu and he was very knowledgeable and helpful. In fact he recommended a combination that wasn’t even on the menu. He said it’s what he likes to eat and loves it. Sure, why not?! I enjoyed chips and salsa while I waited for the entrée. He brought me pulled pork enchiladas with rice and beans, topped with house made tomatillo sauce, queso blanco, and pico de gallo. It was delicious. It was very filling, and cost me $ 10. That was a good find! Great service, very good food, and all at an affordable price. I will be back.

Delicious food at affordable prices, friendly and personal service from staff members who remember you by name, and amazing appetizers(the chorizo queso is absolutely amazing). The plentiful seating makes this a perfect place for a lunch meeting. I can’t recommend enough!

Great place! No wait, large portions and unlimited chips and salsa! This place is great to take large groups and family because there is so much space! Not to mention, the décor is festive and inviting! If you’re over 21, order a margarita! They’re awesome. You get a lot of bang for your buck here!

Cabana Tres Amigos is a family owned Mexican restaurant with fresh authentic food made fresh every morning. We came in for lunch on Saturday. Jeffrey, our server gave us prompt service and was knowledge about the menu. We had the a large bowl of Grandma Maria’s famous soup made with pablano peppers, chicken, bacon and hominy. Amazing!!! Fajita taco salad was served in a fresh homemade taco bowl with a generous portion of chicken, peppers, onions and tomatoes. Very good!!! We would highly recommend this place next time you feel like Mexican food.

I love this place. Very good authentic Mexican food. Prices are reasonable. If you like hot, try some of the special salsas. I’d recommend the Pozole, very very good, with just the right kick, Or the Camarones a La Diabla is always one of my favorites. You have to ask for the corn tortillas.

Cabana Tres Amigos recently hosted a mobile art class, presented by Arts and Carafes, an Ada based DIY painting studio, which is what brought me in for my recent visit. The painting session was held in the back of the restaurant in a separate room that I assume is used for large or private parties. The server who attended to our group was upbeat and helpful. She kept the drinks flowin’ to keep our creativity goin’! Throughout the session the mouthwatering smell of fajitas wafted in and out of the room making it almost impossible to finish my painting. With a few hurried brushstrokes, I finished up my masterpiece(I use that term loosely) and ponied up to the bar to experience a true work of art– The Fajita! By this time it appeared the restaurant might be closing soon so I understood why the bar tender seemed a little miffed about having to serve me and two friends suddenly. Even so, our drinks and the food came out quickly. My chicken fajita looked and most importantly, tasted, as satisfying as I had hoped. The order came with a sizzling hot fajita pan full of chicken, peppers, and onions with a side of pico De Gallo, warm flour wraps, lettuce, sour cream, guacamole, cheese refried beans and rice. There was so much food that even a big eater like myself took a portion home. There was a slight upcharge for extra guacamole and tortillas that I didn’t intend to see on the bill but the breakfast fajita I grilled up the following morning from the leftovers turned out so well, that the extra cost was worth it. I made a mental note to stop by again when I’m over on this side of town as I’d love to check out what else they have to offer.

A great atmosphere, good food, yummy chips and salsa and a reasonable price… What more could you ask for? Well… Good service. Our waiter was terrible. I had to ask repeatedly to get more water and it still never came… Asked for more chips and they never came either. Why bother checking back with us(which he only did once) if you then don’t bring what we asked for? However… Note I still gave four stars… I think our waiter was the bad apple of the bunch(or maybe brand new… but he wasn’t young so I dunno)… Anyway watching other tables around us the other patrons were taken care of and waitstaff seemed attentive. So… unless you’re unlucky and get our waiter you should be ok. Onto the food. Chips are great, served warm and not too salty… Salsa has a little kick but not too much to make it inedible to those of us who don’t like to breath fire. Taco salad was nice size… The fried tortilla shell was perfect and the ground beef and beans at the bottom not too juicy so it stayed crispy… Served with sour cream and guacamole… It was very good. The wet burrito(got sauce on the side) was delicious and also a decent portion… Love the lettuce on the inside. The two burrito combo was also delicious! Three great entrees and the total bill was $ 30(we had water). Other tables had margaritas… They looked tempting but we’d driven in from Detroit so I wasn’t sure I could stay awake after drinking one :)… They were huge. The place was hopping as it was Friday night but we got a seat immediately as it’s big inside… And our food came quickly despite the crowd and was piping hot. Our second time there and we will definitely be back.

Today was an awful dining experience. First of all we were put at a table that wobbled and was slanted downward pretty dramatically. When we asked to move our waiter just tried to stabilize the table instead. Once we finally moved(due to another waiters suggestion) we realized our waiter hadn’t said a word. And he never did! Luis never said a single word to us. He had another young server come ask us questions while he stood off to the side. We were never offered water, and my friends margarita had virtually no alcohol in it while mine was pure alcohol. The food was fine but sure wasn’t enough to make up for the poor service. After 15 min of waiting for out bill I finally had to flag down Luis as he laughed and joked with other waiters. So unprofessional. Last piece of advice — waiters really shouldn’t have their phones out to text while they’re on duty.

Asked a friend for a recommendation for a great Mexican restaurant. Came here on a weekday avoiding the dinner rush. Service was good, waiter very friendly. :) The food was pretty good but I really am not well acquainted with Mexican cuisine.

I had bought a deal for this place & it was about to expire so I enlisted a friend to go with me. I am so glad that I did! I had chicken gorditas that were very good! The chicken had great flavor as did the gordita shell! I opted for the deep fried shell instead of soft. Kinda wish I had asked for one of each just to see the difference but they were so tasty I am definitely happy with my choice. My friend tried the appetizer sampler and the 5 enchilada meal. The appetizer came with cheese bites that had a pepper jack cheese inside — I tried one of those & it was pretty good. Also included a stuffed pepper & some jalepeno poppers. She seemed to like what she had. Large menu & pretty decent prices too. We both agreed that we would eat here again for sure!
