Mark was the best we had a large wedding party in for a rehearsal dinner and he was so patient. The food here was so good I had an 8oz sirloin cook to perfection. I highly recommend this restaurant

I brought my mom here for her birthday dinner but I was not at all impressed. Expensive for the tiny portions first off. But more importantly they would not honor my eatGR card and they knew nothing about beer. It was during art prize so this seemed like a pretty obvious dilemma. The waitress was so hung up about it she stopped paying attention to her job then chatted with me way too long about beer since I knew way more than she did– but I clearly told her we were there for my moms birthday. So, a combination of bad service and really boring expensive food will firmly prevent me from ever returning.

The server, Mark W, was super attentive and we barely had to wait even for water refills. The food was rich and delicious. The visit really turned our night around after dealing with tough holiday drama all day. I wouldn’t have changed anything about our visit. My chicken sandwich had great flavor and was seasoned and cooked well. The bacon was perfectly crispy and the sweet potato fries so warm and sweet. I’d definitely be back.

Extremely slow service for what seemed to be an ordinary night. Met a couple of friends for a drink in the bar after a show downtown. They ordered before I got there and still hadn’t received their food or drinks. Ordered a beer when I arrived and it took 15 minutes for that to arrive. The Sam Adams Winter Lager wasn’t even that cold when it arrived. Server finally produced the check and took another 15 minutes to cash out. I have eaten here in the past and it wasn’t that bad but this time service was slow and inattentive. Last impressions are a lasting impression.

This place has got the worst and slowest service of any place I’ve been to. I’ve actually waited now for 40mi s for my food… still waiting… my waitress didn’t even know what beers were on tap. She forgot silverware, forgot to take our orders, didn’t even bring our appetizer… there was a 15 min wait from when we were seated until she came to our table. It’s been an hour since we’ve sat and still yet to be served. Other tables are not even seated… empty tables around us. I guess I know why. … drove down the highway to a local Arby’s… this is how service should be!

I was excited when I visited Branns. The interesting atmosphere and the idea of eating some Prime Rib, had me ready to try this place out. Unfortunately I was wrong and it took about 35 minutes just to get the attention of a server, even after trying to use the pager, then followed by 15 minutes to get drinks. To make it even worse this was followed by another 35 minute wait for food. Which was undercooked and cold by time it got to my table. By this time I had lost my appetite and any interest that I had in Branns. If you want to be surprised by bad service and mixed food quality, then Branns is the place for you.

After traveling all day was looking for a laid back place to eat dinner. Pulled up the Unilocal app and spotted this place. So glad I did. The atmosphere is fantastic. The service was outstanding and the food was out of this works. From the yeast rolls with cinnamon butter to the Pretzel Burger. Everything was awesome. Had the white cheddar Mac and cheese too. All just made me want more. All for a little less then $ 15.00 with a soda. I would be here every week if I lived here

Food is disgusting. I used to live near by. Hubby wanted a steak so we end up going there. I couldn’t fine one thing appealing on the menu. But I settled on cheese sticks because I was starving(pregnant at the time) and I couldn’t finish eating them. They were simply awful. But hey, if you love grossly over processed food out of a can or bag, then this joint is your kind of place

Was out in Grand Rapids for the hunting expo last weekend. Rootbeer Rumchata, brilliant. Sweet potato, basic with cinnamon sugar and butter can’t go wrong. Salad, I order a chopped steak salad. I asked for my meat cooked medium rare. My meat had the texture of roast beef, it was pretty awful. My waitress however was very sweet. The place itself is more or less mediocre for my Chicago taste. There’s a tv for sports that about sums it up.

Been there recently for lunch several times. Beer is outrageously priced(for draft). Food & service was okay but both times they screwed up the bill. Sent the bill back for correction and then they shortchanged me. The lunch specials are reasonably priced but overall I won’t recommend or return.

My husband and I met another couple for drinks tonight. Service was prompt, three of the four of us ordered tall drafts. Our drinks arrived promptly in dirty glasses, like I used my thumb nail and scraped nastiness off the glass. Not one, but all three were gross! When we brought it to the server’s attention she didn’t apologise or offer us a new drink… no her response was to ask if we would like the next round in bottles! No thank you! I just wanted my draft beer served in a clean glass.

AWFUL!!! I’ve eaten there twice in the past 6 months. The first time was ok, but steak was over cooked! I thought maybe it was a fluke so I tried it again. I asked for my steak medium. I got it raw! I asked them to please cook it a bit longer, when it got it back it was tough as shoe leather and way over done. The waiter seemed to be annoyed so I left it at that and will never eat there again.

The bar manger is totally clueless and extremely unprofessional. A group of us had been going there for weeks to play michigan trivia and each time encountered a problem. Not because of the wait staff or because of the food, but because the bar manger is an idiot. Example: they have specials that start at 9pm. Cool! Half off apps and drink specials. We waited till 9 – 9:15 to order, so we could get the special deal. Well when our bill came everything was full price. The manger(I’ll call her smokey, because she looks like she has smoked 6.5 million cigs) came over and explained that the computer does all that calculating, they have no control over how it’s rang up. Give me a break, you computer should have recognized that it was after 9pm and automatically calculated the discount price. Considering we waited until after 9pm specifically, it should have been half off. Don’t lie to me smokey. We let that slide and decided to make a reservation for a table the next week. Smokey said no problem! We will have it ready for you. Needless to say they gave our table away to some other group, even though we showed up 10 min before our reservation, claiming they made a mistake and gave it to a group with the same name. Smokey gave us some gift cards to make up for it, which we used TOWARDSALCOHOL. The final straw. So we accumulated some gift cards from trivia and wanted to use them. We even told the waitress, who is great, this is our last time coming here and we are using the cards. She said she would do everything to make it pleasant. Well at the end we get our bills and old smokey comes over and says she will not honor our gift cards for alcohol. Hmmmm, we did this 3 weeks ago? Smokey claimed it is a state law, blah, blah, blah. Well it’s not a law, infact another manager had to come over and correct her, saying it was Ok to use the gift cards towards alcohol or whatever else we wanted. Don’t lie to me smokey, you’re a complete idiot. If old smokey gets canned I would totally go back. But as long as that unprofessional, lying waste of space is «managing» we will never go back, to any branns. Sorry Johnny.

Bleh. I ordered my steak medium and it came back rare(red & bloody), my husband ordered his medium & it came totally grey. We had different cuts of meat. Both were very tough. I’ve had better steaks at a Sizzler. We never received our rolls, either… which I’ve heard are good. Our server was good, but between the sticky table and below average food, I doubt we’ll go back.

Brann’s a Grand Rapids staple. The food is what you would expect it to be, well priced and constant. Dining area is familiar it hasn’t changed since I was a kid. The staff makes the place! They make you feel welcome and are attentive to the small things like refills and extra napkins when you get elbow deep into your ribs or wings LOL I would suggest a visit with the family or for game day. Always a good time

Sat at the bar on a Sunday afternoon for lunch to have a Bloody Mary and 8 piece traditional wings with Honey BBQ. The sauce was very good and the wings were huge. They must have ordered their wings from mutant chickens: these things looked like ribs and were very meaty. I could only eat 4 wings and took the rest home. They still tasted great reheated 4 hours later. The Bloody Mary was just so-so; nothing to rave about but nothing to complain about either. I’ll def be back for the wings though.

I can’t believe there aren’t a ton more reviews of this place. I also can’t believe that a place finally lived up to the hype of the locals. Brann’s fires on all cylinders and hits the mark every time. No joke. I was in town for a week working a convention downtown. After working the show at the convention center all day, I didn’t relish going back to the hotel. I also didn’t want to drive to some suburban shopping center and wait for an hour for food. Also didn’t want chain. Also was a little cranky. A few folks suggested heading to Brann’s, and even the locals piped up, «Oh yeah, that place is great!» Skeptical, we trekked off. When I rolled up to it and had a look at their menus, at first I thought I was tricked into visiting an Applebee’s knockoff. Nope, they just have really smart and slick professional marketing. Brann’s is all home grown, and though it is a chain, it’s a local one. Awesome! There was a neon sign lit up that said«IMMEDIATESEATINGAVAILABLE.» Yeah, right, I thought, not on a Friday night at 8:00pm. Sure enough, I walked up to the smiling hostess and she immediately sat our party of three up in the dining room. Awesome! Drinks came quickly, and so did the warm honey-drizzled rolls, along with sides of smooth whipped butter infused with sugar and cinnamon. Oh. My. God. This was worth the trip alone. I was only jolted back to reality when the friendly and smart waitress asked for my order. Awesome! I got the sirloin steak because it seemed popular and what they specialized in. This was the ONLY disappointment, where I asked for«medium» and the meat came to my table gray all the way through. It was still tasty, but after all that set up, I was really hoping for more. I fixed that on a return visit, I ordered the Tenderloin. It costs a little more, but it was cooked to perfection and worth every single dollar. Speaking of dollar, this restaurant is a remarkable good value. At first I was concerned looking at the prices, wondering what the quality was going to be like… But those worries quickly went away once food hit the table. Everything was fresh and tasty. Indulge and get a dessert, too. Oh and if steaks aren’t your thing, they have a full menu of burgers, sandwiches, ribs, chicken, pasta, and salads, too. And all made in the restaurant. The staff was smart, courteous, and capable. This cynical New Yorker was impressed and satisfied! That should say it all! EDIT: I also want to say my entire stay in Grand Rapids was exceptionally pleasant! We met nice folks everywhere we went, and there seems to be a real pride throughout the town that extends to every establishment we visited. Well done!

i went into this thinking it was a glorified applebees. they promote the sizzlin sirloin all over the damn place and many got it as you can hear the steak as it comes out. however sirloin is a little too lean for me. i like my steak like i like my bacon — fatty and flavorful. i got the ribs with a side of fried shrimp. the ribs didn’t look like your typical rack. they rack is all pulled apart but rather than setting them nice and neat, it looks like they got tossed into a bowl of sauce since it comes out messy on your plate. funny how i just now noticed this and just devoured it when i saw it. im sure its some cheaper version but still great and tender. sauce was great — they should not change the sauce. steamed broccoli is the same as you could make at home. shrimp was exactly what you got and good size. OH also the cinnamon butter has crack. seriously because i ate so many damn rolls. i bet the rolls are not high food costs but the butter just turns it all into an addiction. brillant menu planning. our server mark was stellar. i dont usually comment on service since its hard to impress me but easy to please me.(that sounds skanky) anyway he was good. if i owned my own food service place id steal him. tvs all over the place which is great PLUS you get TVs next to you table. they even have keno which i didn’t know was allowed in michigan. menu is very diverse and they have a lot of good priced items if you’re on a budget. JEANS: OK by far ORDER: wait staff
