Been coming here for almost 20 years. Yes, it has been here that long, and the interior has not changed much in that time. That aside, I have been many Mongolian Grills and I still can’t find one as much as I like this one, even after moving from this area to Lewisville years ago. The ingredients are always fresh and the end result if my creation always turns out great. If this place has been here for this long with the same ownership, they must be doing something right. Even the servers have been here forever.

Everytime me and my boyfriend come to Grand Prairie our first stop is this place! yes, it is out-dated and the bathrooms need a good deep clean. But the staff is VERY friendly and attentive. I can see they work very hard because I see the same people there every time! :) I’d rather go to an out-dated place then go to a new modern place with crappy customer service and OK food. I’m not an expert on Mongolian BBQ, but I love this place! I’m definitely addicted ;)

I grew up eating here, and was so excited to eat here again after many years. The quality of the food and atmosphere has gone down hill. The entire establishment was disgustingly dirty. Had I not been for a birthday party, I probably would’ve left. The buffet area had slim to none to choose from and was not fresh at all. Super disappointed and don’t think I’ll be back any time soon.

Food quality is pretty low but edible. Not your normal grocery store quality meats or vegetables. Lacking in variety but not terrible. Great service and attentive though. If your hungry or don’t care too much about quality food decent place to go.

I just can’t eat here. The first visit, i couldn’t for the life of me get anyone to help with combo suggestions. I would have liked to sample the flavorings before commiting to soaking my meat and veggies with a random oil. I also don’t like that they are all oils and no dry spice optiins like at Ghengis Grill. I’m allergic to mushrooms. I told this to the cook that took my oily meat bowl. Please I don’t feel like dying today, could you clean my cook area extra well cause I see all kinds of death sautéing up on that flat top bro! Nope. Had to go through the process all over again when I found the little jerk shoom kickin it with my chicken and bell peppers. The second go round I magically had some egg up in my mix. They just like surprising you at Tons. The two stars are for the root beer and heavenly ice cream/cool whip/vanilla frosty like dessert. It may have tasted so good cause it was all I was able to eat.

This place is awesome. I love the staff here and their food is deliciously great and the little ice cream they give you at the end is the best part of it all. THEONLYTHINGTHATANNOYSMEIS the 2 chefs who work hard but waste most of the food you put on your plate. Some times I get other people’s veggies or protein I didn’t choose. So if you’re allergic to anything, take a closer look at your plate before you stuff yourself(:

I’ve given this place a few chances and I continue to be disappointed. They cook up to 10 orders at a time and despite my not selecting egg or shrimp, I end up with it in my food. I suggest that you stay away if you have food allergies. Their goal is to clearly move as many people through the line, with order integrity being an absolute after thought.

Glad to see that this place is over 20 years strong and still going. I remember the first time we went there over 20 years ago and became once a week(minimum) regulars. After not being there in over seven or eight years, the owners still remember us. Food is out of this world and the free ice cream at the end of your has clearly become one of their signatures. In addition to the«see you tomorrow»!

Hmmmm where do I start. I’m sort of conflicted on this place. On one side I really enjoy the food here because for one it tastes good and it’s an all you can eat Mongolia BBQ. On the other side, the place is dated, could use some cleaning up, and I’m pretty sure there has to be some sort of health code violations. In this case, beyond my better judgement I’m gonna have to say this place is a place I would come back to just because the food is addicting lol. It’s like that food that you know I’d bad for you, but you eat it anyway. Yeah, that’s the situation here. Give it a shot and see for yourself.

Mon & Wed they have a deal for two adults around $ 17(already forgot). Place is not the cleanest but is what it is. Ingredients look fresh. Made a mild sauce to share with my 12 month old. It was so bland. And looking up at the recipe for sauce I forgot the two sauces(one being garlic) bc it wasn’t listed on the sign. The one random thing I found gross is that they don’t clean up the mess in the grill catch. Looks like they leave it there until end of day to clean. Also, food felt heavy think bc of the oil ingredient. Used to eating this in CA and they don’t use that much oil. And way better than that other Mongolian chain we tried when first moved here. That was more like Chinese food.

I love coming to Ton’s! Great food, great flavor, cooked how you choose and how much you choose. Also if you dine in, free ice cream! And they’ll be sure to serve your drinks. This is a local favorite, I believe.

Other than NO Lamb, great Mongolian Cuisine. According to owner, lamb is TOO Expensive. Reasonable pricing. I have been going here for 12 years, need I say more!

Haven’t been to this Ton’s location before, I loved the location in Desoto. Seems as if they cook the food in an excessive amount of oil even though you may have already put some in on the food line. Upset my stomach a bit. The waitress was very attentive.

I have gone to Tons Mongolian grill for 15 years. I first went to the one in desoto until it burned down. I LOVE this restaurant! Idk what it they do but the food is sooooo good and I could eat it for every meal the rest of my life!

Back in my college days I would come here once a week. The establishment is boring, not fancy, but who cares, it’s a Mongolian buffet. I have never had an issue with cleanliness. To the review about the cooks sweating profusely, give the guys a break, they are slaving over a screaming hot grill! And they use one hand to handle the food and the cooking. That hand has a glove and the other hand could be up their butt, so why care if they wipe some sweat off their brow? It isn’t Genghis, in fact I think genghis is nasty. This is more of a place for regulars. You either like it, or you don’t. That being said, the food is good enough that I know the next day I’m going to be miserable… but I eat it anyways. I know in 24 hours I will have god awful farts, my pores will ooze of garlic, and my co-workers can smell me through the walls! It’s ok with me though because the food is worth it. Eating here is kinda like eating pancakes. You know after you eat a stack of pancakes you swear you will never eat pancakes again? And then that feeling is gone by the end of the day? Well it’s kinda like that with Tons it just takes a little longer to build the crave back up… give or take 1 week.

The sauce options are very limited. You don’t to have fun experimenting with different flavors. It basically is a fried rice buffet. If that is all you want, you’ll be happy. But if you are looking for a real Mongolian BBQ experience with all its variety, you would be disappointed which I was.

I read the reviews before coming here. Decided to give it a try. The service is excellent. Top notch. The staff is very friendly and very attentive. The prices are very good considering it’s all you can eat. The cleanliness issues that some people had were a bit exaggerated in my opinion. I wouldn’t call Ton’s dirty, but I also wouldn’t feel comfortable walking around barefoot if you know what I mean. The food. Well… It’s good, but it’s not great. Honestly, I’ll for sure be back, but I don’t think I’ll be recommending this place for family gatherings. I liked the food, but I can see why some people wouldn’t. The sauces are just colored water. Don’t think they really make a difference in how your food ends up tasting. Check it out if you’re looking for something new for lunch, but don’t expect to find your favorite dish of all time here.

Let’s just get this out of the way now. There is nothing gourmet about this place. It’s in an area of Grand Prairie that has been around for as long as I can remember. It’s in the same shopping center as Movies 16 and Albertson, both of which I don’t know how they’re still running. There is nothing fancy about this area, but it will always be relatively busy because it is a staple of GP. And that’s what Ton’s is in GP. A staple. You don’t get too many people on the south side that haven’t eaten there, and definitely shouldn’t find someone who hasn’t heard of it. With all of this being said, if you’re expecting Genghis Grill when you walk in, I’ll say it now, GETOUTOFTOWN. This is not Ghengis Grill, but more so the comfort version of it.(And we Southern folk love comfort food.) The place is very simple. No decorations, no frill. You’ll be seated by a nice server, she’ll take your drink orders and ask you what type of soup you’d like, egg drop or hot and sour. If you want a separate bowl of white rice, you ask for it now. The soups are mediocre. I used to like the egg drop more, but I think the hot and sour has grown on me. Once you mosey on over to the buffet line, grab your tray and a bowl or two.(Dustin D. always grabs two bowls and piles it on, ultimately regretting it every single time.) I grab one bowl and I take it easy. It’s all you eat, after all, and I love my seconds. You really don’t have to put on all the spaghetti noodles you possibly can, it’s a lot more than it looks. Like the sign says, it’s All You Can Eat not All You Can Waste! They have a good array of meats including chicken, pork, beef, sausage, shrimp, fish, and imitation crab, I believe. They also have tofu down the line. The meat is frozen, get over it. I prefer this because they slice it thin, and it doesn’t overtake my meal. Throw your veggies on top, add some noodles, and hit the sauce bar. These sauces are not pre-mixed. I told you, if you expect Ghengis Grill, get out. A lot of them are diluted, which trust me, that’s good for you. The Hot, Med, Mild chart up top means nothing to me. I put in what I like, they cook it with soy sauce anyways, so honestly, a lot of it comes out tasting very, very similar. Am I okay with this? ABSOLUTELY. When I give my food to the cooks, I ask for an egg and skip on the sesame seed.(Second time around, I usually get rice instead of noodles.) I sit down. I feast. I do it again. And I end it with a complimentary soft serve ice cream and my day is complete. The service is good. The place is clean, which I have never had an issue with. And as long as you know what you’re getting into, the food is good. They have regulars for a reason. They have a special on Wed(maybe Monday as well, Mimi T. can confirm.) for two dinners for $ 14 – 15. Tip the server. Tip the cooks. Grab a fortune cookie. And don’t skip the check. C’mon, be a decent person. Will I be back? Please, I’m a regular.

I’ve been going here since high school for cheap plentiful food. It’s definitely not the cleanest place in the world. I’ve seen better restrooms for sure. Not to mention they put red light on the meats, I suppose to make it look more appetizing? Don’t expect top notch quality but for the price I cannot complain! The waitstaff is nice though and you can carb up with a bowl of rice in addition to the egg(ok probably spaghetti) noodles you can add to your dish. It’s also all you can eat! However, they will charge you $ 2 if you take some to go. Some people like to cheat the system I guess, I understand. The sauces I really haven’t gotten quite right yet. I think I have to add more than what’s recommended on the chart above, much more. Each time the flavor comes out pretty much the same. Everything is pretty much consistent each time I return. A solid choice for a cheap meal!
