Line out the door. No movement for 20 minutes. What the Hell? That’s to get a ticket to be called.

This place is horrible. The number start with 0-​, 95-​, 70-​, and 30-​. You would think they are go according in line but they are not. I understand people have appointment for the road test goes first but people that just come in and they go straight into the counter. Then, what is the point waiting?

Every one was friendly. They do get busy so be prepared to wait. Oh and make sure you have all the proper forms. Good luck

You need to THOROUGHLY figure out what you need to bring. Social security card, passport, etc. Almost everyone was going back to get missing documents AFTER waiting 1 – 2 hours. Just want to save you guys from wasting your time!

If your one of the unfortunate ones that have to renew your DL at the DPS and not online. Give yourself 4 to 6 Hours to get in. I’m surprised people have not dropped due to heat exhaustion. Very slow process. You would think, with all the advanced technology that the DMV would find a better way. You can renew online but only if you haven’t already done it ounce. Take the day off… Bring some chairs, food and stay hydrated.

I came to get my license renewed right around 8:10am Monday and the guy at the front counter says I will need two forms or documents showing I am a resident of Texas. This was great because I didn’t have to wait in line — I ended up deciding to come back tomorrow with everything. The next morning I showed up around 9:20am with the documents I need. The front counter guy hands me a ticket and a clipboard to fill out paperwork. After filling out the paperwork they want you to return the clipboard and pen.
The wait time at this dmv is at least 2 – 3 hours. When I sat down the lady next to me told me she was there at least two hours, and sure enough I waited right about 2 hours and a half before my number was called.
I ended up waiting all that time for the lady at the counter to tell me «your license is expired and we need to see your birth certificate to verify that you are an American citizen». I lost mine a while back so now I have to get a new one just to get my license, when I have my social security card and I’ve had my Texas license for over 10 years (renewing it once or twice). They won’t accept anything but my birth certificate which is going to be a pain to get not to mention I had to wait nearly 3 hours. This dmv needs serious help — they either need better staff or a better ticketing system or more booths to help with the demand of people that go there. Move into a new office already — McKinney is growing :|
Also I would like to add that people were complaining that the wait was to long — so the head lady/​supervisor came out and grabbed all of our attention to apologize for the wait but also to instruct us that if we don’t like it there are other dmvs that we can drive to like garland. I personally don’t like that she basically told us to leave if we don’t like it but it was nice that she came out to apologize.

This place is really bad sometimes, especially the wait time to take care of paperwork. Not only that, if you don’t have a «buddy» that works here forget having your paperwork expedited. On my visit I witnessed a woman (DPS) employee letting her buddy’s cut the line. What’s worse is when you call to complain, they don’t even answer the phone, they have crappy customer service. But what can you expect from a government agency? Go to the Garland Mega Center, it’s a ways away, but worth it.

Only four stars because it took me four trips to bring the exact paperwork that they require. Otherwise, everybody was very nice and once I got to sit down I only had to wait about five minutes.
