Howard Johnson Express Grand Prairie

Good if you’re paying about $ 50-​$ 70 for one night quick trip! Don’t pay more!
Not the worst motel I’ve stayed at. The room definitely needs to be repainted/​re-​carpeted. There are a good amount of stains. No bed bugs! But the mattress bed bug protected makes me either happy or awkward! Walls aren’t the most thick but not terrible. I didn’t see any insects which is good but I wouldn’t be totally surprised if I did.
Room size is fantastic! Came with couch, microwave, safe, and mini fridge which is cool.
Overall pro and cons weighted each other out.

I booked a room because it was close to the VPC. I’m going to give it two because the lady at the front desk was pretty nice. There’s a pool right I the center of the parking lot that looks clean, too. The paint seemed semi fresh, if terrible green colors. That’s about it for the good. The actual room had an overpowering smell when you walked in and I’m doubting it was from cleaning products. It looks like it hasn’t been updated since the 70’s. The pen I tried to take notes with had no ink… Not dried out… The whole center was gone. A small thing, but combine the smell, dirty furniture, dirty floors, and bloody boogers on the mirror with that and it adds up. Just look at the pics. The place is filthy and there was some young woman outside on the walkway having a vulgar row with her man. Not the hotels fault but that’ll give you a clue as to what you can expect. Oh, and I forgot they charge you an extra $ 30 at check in for some reason… It’s not in case you eat all the mini bar stuff because there is none! Oh, and the $ 1.50 safe fee you have to ask to get back. To be fair, it probably is the nicest hotel in Grand Prairie so if you MUST stop, this’d probably be the best place. If you’re coming to pick up your vehicle from the VPC, just stay in Dallas! Lol!

On check in a lady’s room had been broken into while they went to dinner and had there dog stolen. The rooms are dirty and in my non smoking room there were cigaret burns in the sheets. I will never stay here again.

About as good as you can expect from a motel. Front desk held onto some things I had shipped there and let me use the fax machine, which was cool. Internet was unreliable. Overall, the location and ease worked out great for a short stay in beautiful Grand Prairie.
