Just wow! I’ve shopped in this store a few times and I felt no specific way about my experience. However, reading the owners response to negative Unilocal reviews has completely turned me off. My family owned a chain of beauty supply stores in Little Rock, AR when I was a child. My grandfather worked hard to keep the doors opened as the Asians infiltrated, and then monopolized the market, which is why I feel passionate about supporting black owned beauty supply stores in particular. Understanding that consumers are not automatically entitled to mistreat staff or attempt to get something for nothing is a «no brainer». However, maintaining a modicum of professionalism and responding in an appropriate manner to negative remarks goes a long way with me. I recently learned of another black owned beauty supply store in the metroplex and I’ve gone once. I’d prefer to patronize that store, and I will from here on out. Not as though the owner is opened to any suggestions, but if I were in her position, I’d consult with a public relations/marketing professional to address negative online reviews because she makes herself and the establishment that she represents look horrid!

Only because I had to give it a rating. Poor customer service, does not back products sold, no return policy or exchange for a product purchase within the week. Any licensed salesperson is capable of exchanging a hair product. I was basically told to kick rocks with a smile. Don’t waste your money here. Update 8÷15−−4 months later, owner seems very confrontational as shown in reply. I simply wrote a review with my experience. Calling me a liar doesn’t really make the situation better. I wish you the best with your business.

This is my second time returning to this store, and I was reminded why I didn’t want to come back. The last time I can I was very disappointed with the service. I was a regular at one point, until the day the sensor started acting up as I was walking out the door. I paid for my product, had my receipt, just left the register, and walked straight to the door. Can you believe I still had to walk back to the register so they can check my bag? Everything checked out on my end, but no sorry no nothing. I told myself after that day I wouldn’t spend my money there again. I decided to try one last time today. They were having another sensor issue. I think the owner called out for the young man to come back(who I just saw pay), and he kept on walking towards the door. One of the young ladies told her it was a sensor issue. There was still no apology yelled out to the young man, but you yelled out for him to stop. I love supporting my black owned businesses, but you have to make customers feel comfortable if you want returning customers. We get enough of that from the Asian owned beauty supplies. Just disappointed.

Really good service and the manger is unbelievably nice! She is wonderful! Everything was great! The prices were a little high but the service made up for that. If I could change one thing, it would be the addition of more wigs. They have a limited selection and need more variety. Other than that, it’s a great store!

I am so glad to have a beauty supply store near me that carries the lines of many popular natural hair products especially the online only companies! So you can save on the shipping and handling fees. Camille Rose, Qhemet Biologics, Koils by Nature, CurlJunkie, Uncle Funky’s Daughter, Aubrey Organics, As I Am, you name it they’ve got it! I also like that sometimes some products are marked down or on sale! I am also a big fan of Equal Marley Braiding hair and they carry that line in many different colors especially the popular 1 and 1Bs which tend to sell out rather quickly. I have met the owner, a fellow naturalista with beautiful vibrant red hair, and she was helpful to me especially when I was asking about the difference between two Qhemet Biologics products. Her staff is helpful and friendly as well. Everytime I come in, I get a warm welcome. Last time I went, the girl at the register actually came down to the aisle I was in to compliment my two strand twists and asked about my regimen and tips I had for her since she was transitioning! Another cool point about this beauty supply store that sets it apart from the rest, is that they have a kids play area that has toys and shows children’s movies.

VERYYYY Rude! If you try to smell anything even if it is ALREADY open, the owner will come YELL at you. Someone had opened a jar previous to me picking it up to smell it because I saw it had been previously opened. She literally told me I had to buy it. She was horribly rude and unprofessional. It sucks because what I smelled in that jar was sooo nice and I did buy/love it. But I’ll be ordering my hair products online going forward. NEVER again will I walk into this store.

I have heard so many things about this place and since I have been wearing my hair natural since 2009, I like to support business that do carry a variety of natural hair products. This is now also the closest location to my residence. I also worked at another natural hair store in the Metroplex so do have sound product knowledge. I was quite disappointed with the availability of products as lines that are comprehensive didn’t seem to have many items available. I came looking for two specific products and neither one were there and apparently not carried. The representative who assisted us seemed rather unsure about the products I was inquiring about as well as any alternate product suggestions that would achieve the same thing. She walked off, appeared she lost interest in assisting us and we continued to walk around for several minutes more and finally left without purchasing anything. Customer service is KEY. It is hard to support when the service isn’t exceptional. Especially in this day and age when consumers are doing their homework and its an extremely competitive market. I may be back in the future but only as a third or fourth option. Sorry…

This was the second time I’d gone into this store. I’m currently in the locking process with my hair and was looking for a twist and loc product that would work well for me. You see, I have the type of hair that people typically say«it’s too good to loc». Whatever that means. At any rate, it has been a long a difficult journey for me. What does any of this have to do with my review you may ask?! Well, lets get to it. Upon walking in, I was politely greeted by a young man behind the counter and asked if I needed assistance with anything. After looking around for awhile and narrowing my search down to two products. I asked a lady behind another counter for some assistance in determining what would be best for me. She was a great help. Not only did she provide me with info on my particular hair type, but also what would work best and why. Now you might ask why this is such a big deal? Simply put, great customer service is a dying breed in our world. It’s a breath of fresh air to be able to go into a place and be greeted by knowledgeable people who seem to care about their customers. Now whether they actually do or not really isn’t my concern, but at least fake the funk until I’m back out the door! So for this, not to mention they have great products, they get four stars out of me. This will be my beauty supply store from now on. Even though I pass at least 4 or 5 to get there, I will always spend my hard earned money on quality and not convenience!

Frequenting beauty supply stores is something that I have become accustomed to since I was a wee tot lol! I have a go-to place… www.yelp.com/biz/american-beauty-supply-irving#hrid:DzJwnVRFuy6gKoy9kquSAA …however, and I say this with the utmost respect… the Asian community has a monopoly on the hair market. Go into almost any beauty supply and you will understand what i am saying. and that’s all I’m going to say on that because I don’t need anyone up in here thinking that I am being funny or racist… because I’m like a freaking rainbow coalition and I LOVE everybody! OK? Ok… moving on. I’m newly natural and I needed to get my hands on some of the staples that go into my hair regimen and American Beauty doesn’t sell any of them… no Miss Jessie’s, no alikay, no Jamaican black Castor oil, nilch. none. Nada. So upon researching a natural website, I came across the beauty 4 u Supercenter and found out that it was«black owned and operated.» Not that it matters, but in this case, especially for naturalistas like myself, it’s important to have a place where you can GO and get products rather than ordering online and waiting. I was happy with my visit to the Supercenter and I’m sure that I will be returning. Is it the holy grail for beauty supplies? no, it’s not. and I understand why… there aren’t rows upon rows of product, not to many hair selections, and they may be out of some of what you need. BUT they do have every. single natural product that I have seen reviews and advertisements about as well as some more affordable options. They also have knowledgeable staff and a nice community friendly atmosphere. Can I find«Jenna» my go to half wig that I need for rough days with my hair. NO. but that’s okay… i will support and advertise for this company on the sole purpose of just trying to break into this market that is so heavily monopolized. I will see you soon Beauty 4 U.
