Love the atmosphere and the staff are always friendly! Miso soup is always a must and their rolls are top quality :)

This is my favorite sushi restaurant in the world. I’ve had sushi in Japan, many other countries, and dozens of places across the US and I love No Coast. The fish is a higher grade than you find in most restaurants and always fresh. The big eye tuna is top notch and used for sashimi, nigiri, and the rolls(unlike many places that give you lower grade tuna on rolls). The White Star, Oni and Poison Ivy have always been our favorites. And for a real treat they have Uni when in season. The atmosphere is fun and service is friendly.

Thankfully there are other options for sushi here in Grand Junction, because I won’t ever go back to No Coast. The fish tastes old, I don’t know how else to say it. The rice is inexpertly cooked; mushy and crunchy at the same time somehow? Service is inattentive, bordering on rude, and haphazard. I don’t mind spending some change when I go out for sushi, I’m aware that its a pricier choice than say steaks or pasta. But I won’t drop another dime at No Coast. You can find me at Sushi &ROK, or Suehiros.

This is some of the best sushi I’ve ever had and definitely the best in GJ. The staff is awesome too!

I love the sushi here, and the staff has always been very kind and competent. My favorite roll is the poison ivy, which has seaweed salad atop avocado and unagi for the win! The dynamite shrimp is also delicious. The atmosphere is hip, and it’s a good place to bring a date.

The title of this restaurant is wonderfully appropriate because, as many know, there is no ocean adjacent to the great state of Colorado. Often that is a deterrent to those seeking the raw fruits of the sea, but fear not! No Coast offers a delicious, fresh-tasitng selection to the good people of Grand Junction. After my second time here, I can confidently say I recommend No Coast. A favorite roll of mine is the HIC, which of course sands for… well, ask your waiter. It’s better that way. A nice bowl of Miso soup is complimentary, but unfortunately there is no happy hour. There is an ample Sake selection, and the rolls have quite a few unique combinations with typically sushi-esk prices. My one complaint: the tables near the large front window were really cold in the winter. Had to keep my jacket on, which, again, is appropriate for a Colorado sushi restaurant, I guess.

My first visit, sushi not bad at all, yet way overpriced. 2nd visit we were turned away because my son, who can’t eat seafood, had a sack lunch with him– big boos for customer service. 3rd time, I walked out before being served because the fishy smell was SO bad it about made me sick! I don’t know if they’re owned by the same people or not — the no coast sushi in fruits is my favorite in town– they offer an option of healthy black rice, sushi was so fresh, awesome service, clean, and they accommodated my son– HUGE difference!

I agree with a bunch of other reviews in that I have eaten a lot of good sushi and have recently moved to GJ and know I need to expect a different level. First, a sushi restaurant by nature should have friendly chefs who will show a little interest in the patrons that choose to sit at the bar. This is the first sushi restaurant I have been to that does not great everyone as they enter, and say goodbye as people leave. That is a common thread that would be easy to duplicate in any size town with no ocean around. Now for the food. I had the Poison Ivy Roll because it came highly recommended and I love everything sushi and this roll offers a lot. First bite I could barely tolerate to swallow down. I then tried the seaweed salad that comes on top and realized that was the problem. I have eaten my share of seaweed salad and this one repulsed me. Best I can describe is that the texture was off, a bit stringy and spongy not crisp and it had an awful ocean taste, not like any I have had before. So I picked off all the seaweed and tried just the roll. It was better but definitely not worth $ 15. Also they served us complimentary miso soup. I love miso soup, this soup was bland, and they did not serve it with a typical Japanese spoon, or a spoon at all for that matter. My wife had the beef teriyaki. She said it was okay, nothing she would eat again. I saw that her plate was filled with rice and other filler and had only three thin little pieces of beef. Yet again, far from worthy of the $ 15 it cost as well. And so my quest for sushi to sooth my craving continues here in GJ. All I want is a good roll with salmon or tuna on it that isn’t smothered in sauces or seaweed.

Realizing we are in Grand Junction, I do not necessarily have high expectations of sushi. However, after visiting the other sushi places in town, and seeing good reviews for No Coast sushi, I thought I would try it. Sadly, I was disappointed. There is no happy hour, and the prices are comparable to a New York high end sushi bar. For instance, five pieces of sashimi is $ 18 – 22. I ordered one roll which was tasty but was completely falling apart. A little more training of the sushi chefs would be wise. I will not be back here again.

Eddie P. Is full of crap. I go to No Coast once a week, i travel alot for business so i cant always make it but when i do, i get the Poison Ivy, or KA, or dynamite shrimp. This place is ALWAYS fresh and great tasting. The customer service is top notch. Only twice out of the 30 or 40 times ive been there has one of our meals shown up later than the other, when that happened they either comped that dish or gave half off, they take care of there customers! Its truly my favorite sushi place, better than any ive been to in California, north dakota, or Las Vegas

Poison Ivy surprised me! Everything was served in big portions, worth the price. The environment was totally different from typical Asian sushi restaurants. More like a modern decoration with cool staff.

Very high quality. Great service. I’ve had sushi at plenty of places in Los Angeles and this place is generally better than all of them. A few more inventive options than Suehiro, and they don’t suffer from the egregiously bad service. It’s a popular restaurant, so nothing happens quickly, but they’ve been good to me. I enjoy the Surf and Turf, and the Poison Ivy especially. If you’re not very experienced with sushi I’d start off with the KA roll and Dynamite Shrimp. Most people that don’t like sushi like it.

This is a must in Grand Junction. Not a chain(like everything else in GJ) and it’s fabulous! Best sushi in town, actually some of the best sushi I’ve ever had. Very fresh and the atmosphere is very nice. Not a fan of the wine selection, but I am not a Colorado wine fan. The KA(I think that’s the name) and the poison ivy are my favorites so far.

Sarah and I eat at No Coast a lot. We have never had a bad experience or anything less than superior service from the staff, owners or patrons of this sushi haven. No Coast is not a typical sushi bar. They are not trying to be typical. The flavors and atmosphere you experience are unique and intentional. Chris and Lisa Boyd have tried to create a relaxing and fun place to come hang out with friends and enjoy great sushi creations from Chris and his staff of young and artistic chefs. Considering the location, No Coast does a superb job of delivering wonderfully fresh fish(from Hawaiian suppliers) enjoyed sushi or sashimi style with very creative drinks to enhance the experience. If you happen to be in Grand Junction, dont hesitate on visiting No Coast. You will be glad you did.

I’ve held back from reviewing No Coast, but I can’t hold it in any longer. I hate to be this direct, but the food here is an ABOMINATION to Japanese people. Granted, I’m Korean but I grew up in Hawaii eating Japanese food all the time. The reason I call their food an abomination is because they didn’t get the easiest, simplest, most core ingredient of sushi right — the rice. The RICE! All you need is a decent rice cooker and medium quality sushi rice to get the somewhat firm yet chewy texture in sushi rice. The rice at No Coast(and this was after 4 meals here in the course of a year) is MUSHY. Mushy, mushy, mushy — there really is no excuse for this. Furthermore, this place is overpriced and the portions extremely small. They will bulk up your rolls with more than necessary mushy rice. After a $ 75 check last night, my husband and I were still hungry. The best part of this restaurant is the salt water aquarium in the front.

I travel to Grand Juction for work so I eat sushi a lot. I know its a litte risky in Grand Junction but I have found 2 sushi places that are pretty good. I like the sushi here but the service is terrible. When I came in and asked to sit at the sushi bar they told me I would have to wait 5 min cause they just sat the sushi bar even though it had 6 open seats. The people that work here feel like they are too good for you. There is a sushi place on Main Street that is very friendly and makes you feel important.
