we came to visit family from out of state. where we come from– the state AND county fairs are unbelievable, big and FUN. This was not. By any stretch of the imagination. Sorry. it was the smallest, worst fair i have ever gone to and we go to them all; whenever we can, no matter where we are. All the rides were baby-sized lame, there were not many to choose from if you are an adult. The best thing they had was a high jump into a inflated air mattress. The big ferris wheel they had, was for children. At our county fair, there is a ginornous ferris wheel; that is 5 times the size of this one. There were only about 5 «real» food vendors,(not only serving drinks or unhealthy snacks,) at a normal sized fair you will see about 30+ «real food» vendors, at the very, very least. The expensive food we ended up choosing was old, stale and did not taste good at all. The only animals we saw were a few cows, sheep, one llama, rabbits, a few chickens and pigs. Normally there should be horses, and lots of other different types of animals.(our fair shows camels, goats, horses, pheasants, and so many other animals — some exotic that i cant even pronounce– that are too numerous to mention here) The only reason we went, was to see a well known comic in the grandstands, and the price we paid for his ticket included admission into the fair; or else we would have NEVER paid even one dollar to get into this fair. While we were at the show, at the open arena overlooking the fairgrounds; we saw hardly anyone enjoying the rest of the fair. Good try Mesa County, but doesn’t constitute what we would call fun. We even heard comments on the way in, about how«Not Fun» it was– as people were leaving to go back to their cars.

Not too pricey for admittance, $ 12, but everything else is way overpriced. When I attend a fair, I expect the prices to be a little up there but this was ridiculous. Each ride cost an average of $ 4 and the food was similarly priced. I was however impressed with the firework display and all the rides and stands were fun to go on and look at. Altogether I would definitely attend next year.

Wow, the prices really have gone up this year… $ 5 for 13 and under, not so bad, but $ 16 for 14 and up?! Seriously. They charge $ 4 for a tiny beer and I didn’t even bother to look at the food prices… But… regardless of that, the events in the Grandstand were pretty fun. Granted, hardly anyone even cleared their bull ride, and the one 89 point ride was only based on the fact that no one got that far, so that too was kind of a bummer. Still, it was pretty fun to watch. I will probably go again next year, but make a whole day of it, and go back to my car to eat or drink anything.
