The staff is very knowledgeable and welcoming! Great selection of fish and colals and their tanks are impecable! By far the best place for aquatics on the western slope. I have purchased alot of SPS corals(they have lots of ORA) from there and they always seem to thrive. All of the fish i have bought have been parasite free and remained healthy(except for the anthia that found one of my power heads), I wish I could say the same about the other stores in the area. I had trouble with an ecotech radion light that I purchased there and they swapped it out no questions asked! The staff seems more concerned with making sure the customer and there tank is happy instead of just trying to make a quick buck. They usually have rare corals that are even hard to find online and there prices are pretty good too. If you love your saltwater aquarium as much as I do this is the only place in the area to shop.

Like many others I like to visit aquarium stores when traveling. I get to visit the Grand Junction area once or twice a year and decided to drop into this store again. Probably my 5th or 6th visit since 2009, Sadly this store is now nothing short of pathetic don’t waste your time! Do yourself a favor and just shop at one of the other local stores or order online. The store changed hands from the original owner a few years back and has been on a downhill trajectory ever since. I’m guessing due to the following… First of all upon entering the store the nitwit on the computer behind the counter, the only staff member in the store, was completely incapable or unwilling to offer me(the only customer) a courteous welcome to the establishment. Like many I don’t want to be accosted when I enter a store either but It is not too difficult at all to say«welcome, let me know if I can help you with anything». Never mind the lack of enthusiasm, the complete lack of common courtesy was astounding. Apparently it was too difficult or beyond the qualifications and capabilities of this particular staff member. In addition the aforementioned staff member was then completely indifferent when asked about a specific piece of coral(a very large ORA red planet colony) which previously flourished in one of the main display tanks as you entered the store. BTW: A tank which, at the time of this visit, had Cyano bacteria across the sand bed. Inexcusable for any legitimate professional outfit, especially one that offers tank maintenance. *NOTE: Anyone looking for an aquarium maintenance out fit, please visit the store and take a good hard look. Ask yourself a simple question: Do you really want to pay this outfit money to have your tank look like theirs? By all means just judge for yourself. A few other red flags which screamed neglect, laziness and indifference were the filthy fish holding tanks and dying coral in the coraline encrusted coral holding systems. Now granted, not everything in the coral tanks were dead or dying but enough to make one realize something wasn’t right. Their display tanks and holding tanks looked nothing like what thriving healthy coral or coral holding systems should look like. Here is the take away Plain and simple this gross lack of husbandry is nothing short of irresponsible. Like the coral the store looked«unfit» like it was just barely hanging on and on a trajectory for certain demise. Here is my advice to the store. You really need to get your act together and you can start by considering the following. 1. Get off your damn computer and acknowledge the clientele who makes the effort to visit your brick and mortar location. This is not hard to do and cost you NOTHING! 2. Use that time away from your computer to go clean your tanks and provide the living creatures in your charge the care they deserve. They added benefit is it will also serve to make your store look presentable! 3. If you are going to spend all day on the computer then take the time to make use of the abundant resources online to learn a thing or two about responsible animal husbandry in the context of maintaining healthy marine environments. Perhaps some reading this may question my review? Fair enough. I’ll say this, anyone who visits the store who knows anything about aquariums, or perhaps nothing at all, should quickly be able to ascertain the neglected state of affairs. I really hope people understand this is not what an aquarium shop should look like.
