I have been a customer there for ever, always greeted by staff, or Maria herself, excellent place for authentic Mexican food.

I judge a Mexican food joint first by their salsa. Not only is it well balanced and(spicy!), they give everyone at the table their own salsa! I was impressed. We went there for lunch and the prices are competitive and the food is very tasty(I recommend the chimichangas). I’m excited to try out some other menu items in the near future :)

My fav mexican place in GJ. We have tried mostly everything but my top choices are the torta cubana, pollo ala plancha, siete mares(takes a little time but totally worth it), mexican burger, chilaquiles(breakfast), and the machaca(breakfast, my fav) with homemade corn tortillas. Also, the make a killer patty melt.

We had a nice breakfast here yesterday morning. Huge plus — they open at 6AM. Second huge plus — the breakfast is ½ Mexican choices and ½ American choices. Everyone can be happy. For many people, the first question about a Mexican restaurant is — is it authentic. Well, that is always open to opinion. I often see people say«I grew up in California(or Arizona, Texas, NM) and I know Mexican food.» Well, no. You know Cal Mex, Az Mex, Tex Mex or NM Mex. And even Mexico hosts so many styles that it is hard to define. I come from the NM side of things and when I first moved to California — I hated the Mexican food there(too tomato-y). Hated Tex Mex — too cumin-y and not enough chile. But once I gave up my prejudices, I learned to enjoy these cuisines. Sorry to be so wordy. So, I enjoyed my breakfast entrée of enchilada topped with fried eggs. It was smothered in Colorado style green chile. It wasn’t spicy, but had a nice chile flavor. I chose to upgrade my enchiladas from cheese onion to carne asada(a $ 1 surcharge). The beef was tender and had a nice well seasoned char flavor. The beans were very good — not to be taken for granted. They seemed to be house cooked and had a little bit of a porky note(you can substitute vegetarian whole beans, if you prefer). Hash browns were fine, but nothing to write home about(that said, I liked them for sopping up my egg yolks). My husband had the machaca and eggs. For us, the egg/machaca ratio was off — needed to be more beef and less egg. This was more like scrambled eggs with a bit of machaca running through it. Still, nicely scrambled. The corn tortillas were commercial, flimsy ones that didn’t take well to rolling up some egg or bean in. Since we had seen references to house made corn tortillas, we were disappointing. When asked, our server said you need to ask for«mano» corn tortillas. Next time, we will. Still, hard to imagine anyone preferring the grocery store version to the homemade kind. Also — there was no salsa for the machaca and it did need some flavor/moisture. We asked our server and he asked if we wanted bottled(like Tapatio) or chip salsa. Opted for the chip salsa and glad we did. Nice flavor — full of cilantro and chopped onion along with the tomato and chile. Nothing was particularly spicy, though the salsa did have a nice little zing. And, I have learned that local green chile sauce is more tomatillo than chile. But — very tasty. Good service. The place is huge and was about half full for breakfast, which is a good sign. And if you are in the mood for a breakfast/brunch cocktail — it is available here. Beer on tap included Budweiser, Modelo, Negro Modelo, and Dos Equis. So, we will be back to try lunch or dinner soon.

Hard to see the sign for this restaurant because it’s covered by trees. The chips are fresh and the salsa is perfectly spicy. I had a lunch plate with beef enchiladas and green chile($ 7.50). They brought out some extra homemade flour tortillas. Great food, great price. Yum! If I lives in Grand Junction, I’d be here all the time!

Chili Verde Plate!!! When I planned our weekend getaway to Grand Junction, I have to be honest. Las Marias Mexican Restaurant was on my mind. I visited GJ last year in September and we visited this restaurant. We visited this time and I ordered the Chili Verde meal. I asked for some extra tortillas because that is what heaven is like to me. In Utah a lot of the Mexican restaurants I visit cover everything in cheese and call it a day. This place serves Chili Verde that is so good, I may have to consider retiring in Grand Junction. I don’t have the writing skill or vocabulary to articulate the wonderful taste. Until we meet again Las Marias, i’ll be thinking about your wonderful Chili Verde!

We stopped by to check out this place and were disappointed. The music was too loud and there were no ‘sound deadeners’(fabrics, soft chairs, etc). The food was okay. We didn’t order drinks. It was tough to talk on our date because of the loudness of the atmosphere. We won’t be back.

I always get the chicken à la plancha, which is the healthiest dish I can find on the menu. Servings are generous and the service is generally very good. The restaurant is in a transitional place, so the décor is nondescript and a little lacking. I would hope that when the restaurant makes its move to Colorado Avenue, the atmosphere is improved upon. The menu has a wide range of choices. The menu is affordable.

Great food, and very reasonable prices. Love to come in here and get the taco plate with authentic carne asada. The chips and salsa served with every visit are also awesome. This is me and my wife’s favorite place to eat and is even better now that it located downtown.

In a town like Grand Junction which is full of options for Mexican food, if you want to open a family style restaurant, you had better BRING. IT. Sorry to say… It was not brought. Mojitos made with sugary sweet mix and no fresh mint. Enchiladas were cold in the middle and blazing hot on the edges, a sure sign of being reheated in a microwave. And there is no way that sauce didn’t come out of a can. Do yourself a favor and go to El Tapatio on North &12th. Service was adequate. Bathrooms and dining areas seemed clean.

I am from a town where Mexican food is pretty prevalent, so I am picky about it. I haven’t been impressed with the Mexican food in GJ until I found this place. First of all, let me say the ambiance is a bit lacking. The décor is kind of tacky and out of date. If the owners could update this, I think the place would look quite nice. The service was prompt and courteous despite the restaurant being quite busy. Our drink orders were taken immediately, and they brought us three brimming baskets of tortilla chips along with some tasty salsa for six people. My mom and I ordered margs, and they were quite cheap but not very good. This is my only true complaint about the place. I’m used to the fresh lime margaritas some of the other Mexican establishments and Edgewater(yum, best marg in town!) serve, and this tasted like a super-sweet bottled mix. I will probably get a Dos Equis next time. The food, however, was awesome! I got shrimp fajitas, and they brought me out a HUGE plate full of shrimp, onions and peppers. They were extremely tasty, and I had enough for three more meals! I did ask for corn tortillas and they brought me flour, but that isn’t a huge deal. My husband ordered three tacos(carne asada and pork), and they were also filling and tasty. They do not skimp on the fillings! My mom(who is EXTREMELY picky about Mexican food) got a tamale and green chile and said both were great. The green chile is very hot but delicious. My dad really enjoyed the red chile on his enchiladas(not as spicy), and my in-laws thought their dishes were good, too. The best part is the fact that this yummy food was super cheap! My fajitas were $ 13 but came with enough for four meals! The other dishes were equally as affordable. I would highly recommend this place despite the rough interior. That might turn off some people, but try the food; you will not be disappointed!

Stopped in on Cinco de Mayo and ordered the Super Burrito with a marg. Who doesn’t have specials for the one Mexican holiday American’s celebrate all over the country? I thought that was very odd. To find a Mexican joint that doesn’t have deals set for that special day where I come from would be like winning the lottery. Anyways, The décor and atmosphere were pretty typical. It was quite clean as far as Mexican restaurants go. The service and drinks were both good. The food was different from what I am used to, but I enjoyed it. I wasn’t a fan of the shrimp, but the chicken was tasty. The salsa was very fresh and had some good kick to it. That was probably my favorite part. All-in-all, I enjoyed my visit. I will give another place a try next time I am looking for Mexican in GJ, but I wouldn’t be opposed to a return trip.

Awesome happy hour! Even their regular margarita and draft beer prices are great… But the best thing about this place is the food. It’s the best Mexican food in town. Their fajitas are huge and we always come home full and with leftovers. The service is really good and the manager walks around and visits tables regularly to make sure everything is good. We love it!

Friendly staff and delicious food. We were greeted and seated immediately after walking in the door. The waitress(Myra) was prompt to refill drinks. Tables were quickly cleared and cleaned when guests left. The food is similar to Fiesta Guadalajara or El Tapitios. Very good, would recommend.

Seriously yummy Mexican food. Easily the best meal during my recent business trip to Grand Junction. I opted for a burrito with shredded beef & chicken. I wasn’t sure how the 2 meat idea would work, but it ended up being ½ & ½ — one end beef and the other chicken. Both meats were delicious. And it came with cheese, lettuce, tomato, green chili, sour cream, and guac. Way more than I could finish, but my tastebuds wanted to keep eating. I also had a midori margarita which was quite good. Service was timely and friendly. Maria herself dropped by to see how our table was doing as well.

This is the best Mexican food restaurant in Grand Junction. The food is incredible with the best green chili. Maria is a wonderful person who cares very much about her customers. I will follow where she goes.

In Grand Junction craving good Mexican food. The lady at the front desk of the hotel recommended this place. Large menu, and ordered a combination with a taco, enchilada, and choice of tamale or chili relleno. Went with the relleno based on the waitress’s suggestion. Relleno was disappointing, green chili was kinda funky, and the taco was tossed unappetizingly on the plate smack in the middle of the refries. Service was ok, but food was nothing to write home about. I’d try a different place before going back.
