The food here is incredible! I ordered the Turkey Sammie(thick slabs of local turkey, arugula, bacon, homemade mayo, grilled bun). One of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. The chef/owner chatted us up while we ate on the balcony overlooking the rolling green hills. Don’t miss this small, hole in the wall business.

I had lunch at Café Zachary and was blown away!!! The chef personal talked to me and my friend to explain his ingredients, cooking style and more! Once the food arrived and we had time to start eating he checked in again for our impressions. I have not experienced such a personal and professional dining experience in VT before. Worth a trip! Last and not least The Art is an excellent example of Vermont Artists. Add the Grande Isle Art Works to your itinerary

A cool little place that has some nice local artwork and dining in one. It was not crowded when we went on a Sunday morning for a late breakfast/lunch. Most impressed with the level of service and attention during our visit — they seem to get it. Had a nice chat with Zach and Logan about the food and they were interesting to talk to.

Well, third time is a bust. Have tried to go here twice before with bad luck, but wanted to give them a chance. I really wanted to like this place, I really did. But I showed up at noon and was told by the server that my party and I were too late — there were no eggs, bacon or potatoes remaining(comprising half their menu items). The café’s website indicates they open until 2 on Sunday. The piece that topped the cake was when the staff was rude to other guests with mobility issues. Terrible, terrible, terrible. We joked as we drove away that we should run to the store and buy some potatoes, eggs and bacon so other guests would be spared our experience.

Stop and eat here! Go out of your way to find this place. Get off the ferry and come here. This food is amazing! Zach is friendly and funny and knows how to blend the local fresh ingredients to be delicious. The prices are fair and reasonable. The servings are generous and delightful. Grilled cheese sandwich may be the best in this country! The art is not bad either.

Ate lunch there today and had, without a doubt, the best grilled cheese sandwich in my life. What a wonderful place to eat and view(and buy) unique pieces of work from Vermont artisans. I totally enjoyed my visit.

You get to eat surrounded by art! The food is very good in a casual setting, with Vermont art everywhere! Very cozy in the winter and in the summer they have a great patio with views of a large meadow. Great place to bring tourists!

Chef Zach is truly exceptional. His knowledge and use of local flavors and ingredients is unparalleled. The local, earthy flavors of Vermont truly shine through in each of his dishes. A breakfast sandwich featuring a local egg, cheese and maple sausage is both rich, sweet and delicious all at once. The freshness of the egg is instantly apparent. A grilled cheese sandwich features tangy, almost citrusy Cabot cheddar and farm fresh tomatoes. The honey bread paired with the cheese adds the slightest bit of delightful nuttiness. At $ 25, this is the place to be!

This place has the best food in the area. The chef Zach is a great cook and a nice guy. Breakfast and lunches are great and every Thursday they have dinners which are also awesome. If you are in this area, I highly recommend it. The art is surprisingly good as well– I have purchased several paintings here.

Worst dining experience ever! My four friends and I decided to go here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon and even called ahead to see if we were allowed to bring my dog. The woman on the phone said it was fine and that she would even set up a table for us on the deck. The minute we get out of the car, an older woman(who I assume was one of the owners) immediately tells us that dogs can’t be on the deck and that it’s illegal in VT. She tells us we need to eat out on one of the picnic tables in the middle of the field in the back. A little off-putting given it’s the first interaction we have with the restaurant, but fine, we can make do with that. A summary of what follows: — After taking our orders and bringing us our drinks, our waitress never checks in on us again. — 1 hour after ordering, we have to hunt her down to ask for more water as we are sitting in 85 degree weather out in the sun. We get asked, «How much water do you guys need?» Ummmm, a pitcher please. — We have to forge for snacks and sunscreen in our car because the food took 80MINUTES to come out. — The chef comes out to apologize, but claims he had 15 people ahead of us. First, there were probably about half that many people there when we arrived. Second, there needs to be more than one person in the kitchen if this is the pace that you cook. — We eat our food and want to leave immediately after being outside in the hot sun for 1.5 hours so we go inside and ask to pay our bill. When my friend asked if we could each pay separately, the chef had the nerve to say«I wish you would have told me that ahead of time». Ummmm, I wish you had told us our food would take 80 minutes to come out so that we could have picked a different place to eat. The food was actually pretty good, but we all were agreement that we will NEVER come back here. So if you’re looking for good food, no waitress service, and a wait of almost an hour and a half, you should check this place out.

Have spent a week cycling the Champlain Islands and a quick two nights in Montréal, and this was definitely the best dinner we’ve had. We’ve had some wonderful meals, but Zach’s prix fixe Friday night menu was so delicious and inventive, it topped them all. Wonderful use of local foods, herbs and local wine list. The duo of Zach’s, one the chef and other a local musician made our outside dining experience a highlight of our week.
