Awesome white chicken chili. I wouldn’t get the stir fry again, but everything else is pretty tasty!

Every time we go we are more impressed. Last night I ordered the chicken stir fry worried about salt content, and it was not salty! The veggies were crisp. It was perfect! The atmosphere is perfect for a night out without kids!

Truly is Grand Havens best kept secret. There is no place on earth like it! It’s got a great comfortable atmosphere, and delicious food! Penny is amazing and always so helpful! We would eat here every day if we could!!!

My favorite restaurant in gh by far… had perch and steak on nye with a bottle of wine. Warm atmosphere, great prices. All around gem.

We’ve never been disappointed with our food or drinks. Very cozy, great service in the main restaurant or the bar. The soups are excellent, delicious fish and the menu has something for everyone on it. Fun place to meet with friends!

We decided to try this restaurant for our 10^th Anniversary after finding it on Unilocal.It did not disappoint!!! The food, service and atmosphere were excellent. So were the prices. When they found out it was our anniversary the even gave us a free dessert. I had the seared ahi tuna and my husband had the surf and turf. Both excellent!!! The service was quick and I loved how they weren’t bringing out the main meal before we finished our salads. (Always a pet peve of mine when that happens). We are definitely coming back again to try their raved about white chicken chili. We were here in the off season… so I’d recommend calling for reservations during summer peak. Highly recommended!!!

The best White Chicken Chili I have ever had. They also have some great Tex-​Mex.

Walking by I saw a sign highlighting their fried perch and «award winning» white chicken chili– so immediately I thought, «I NEED TO PUT THOSE CLAIMS TO THE TEST!» They lived up to it!
The white chili was damn tasty with melted cheese on top and perfect for scooping up with the side of tortilla chips it comes with. The perch sammich was EXCELLENT, breaded not battered so it’s not super heavy and the toasted bun was a great touch; the tartar sauce even tastes homemade. (The waitress told me that they go thru two+ freezers full of the fish per week, and I can see why.)
We sat on the bar side for lunch and the bartender/​waitress was super nice and on the ball. It was also a great spot to people watch with the bar regulars.

Looks like a dive from the outside but it’s quite nice on the inside. I’ve only been there once, but loved the food. I will be going back.

This was one of my favorite places to go, when I lived in town. If you want great food, a good atmosphere and very good service this is the place to go. The white chicken chili is a must! Everything is good, no matter what I ordered and great conversation with Kathy and Jaime behind the bar.

Very solid ! I had a Caesar salad to start, great dressing, and the chicken stir fry, which was fantastic. Restaurant is very clean, with a great bar also

One of my favorite places to eat in Grand Haven. My favorite is the chicken finger wrap.
Thing are not always perfect but nothing ever been horrible. only few things being cold.
If you’re looking for a deal though, go during happy hour. Appetizers & drinks are discounted price. It starts at 8 and I think ends at midnight. But ONLY on weekdays.

Visited here while on vacation with some friends. Ordered the Bloody Mary and some chicken strips. The drink was way too spicy for my liking (is a premix) but the chicken strips were perfectly crispy. Was a bit surprised that the price is a bit more then I would have expected for a ‘local hangout’. While my experience wasn’t awful, I wouldn’t come back. I would prefer to try someplace else next time I’m in town. Just a ‘kinda ok’ place; nothing fabulous.

This is an older restaurant/​bar but cozy and comfortable… great place to unwind and relax. Chicken chili was very good. Hearty, lots of beans, served with melted cheese over the top like French onion (which is also on the menu). Served with a side of tortilla chips. Happy hour specials (2 – 6 pm) are very enticing at $ 1.99 for items that are closer to $ 6 – 9. And from 8 – 10 pm all appetizers are ½ off… still not bad. My perch dinner was awesome! Light and flaky fish… light batter. Frankly enough for two people at 6 fillets. The baked potato was not good… tasted old; either half reheated in Microwave or left holding in a cool oven (it is about 930pm — entirely possible). Overall I would definetly come back for these items.

I love their Perch dinner. Service is always good and food is very tasty. I just wished they were open on Sunday.

We’ve been to JW’s a few times, and today was for lunch. A nice décor in the dining room with the bar separated on the opposite side, the atmosphere was pleasant. We waited about 15 minutes to be acknowledged after being seated, and the waitress apologized profusely and said there was a mix-​up and «they» didn’t tell her we were her table, so she brought us some complimentary chips and salsa.
I had the French Dip with fries and my wife had the fish and chips, both not bad but nothing stellar. I did not care for the jus, a strange overpowering flavor and way oversalted, but the sandwich was ok without it. The fish was what you would expect, not bad but nothing to write home about.
We would return again because I got the impression that it could be great for dinner or drinks and food, I understand they have rooftop seating for the nicer weather. Sometimes I get the feeling in a place that if I had ordered something different I would like it a lot better, and this is one of those places, so that is what we will do.
Even with the mix-​up the service was very good, we liked our waitress, and would recommend JW’s for a visit.

This is the place the locals come to regularly and I can see why. Good food and great, friendly service. I listened as the hostess sat a family of 5 which included 2 small ones and it sounded more like they were being welcome in someone’s home than a restaurant. Being first timers, that told me what kind of place this was.
The food was great (prime rib) and the service was top notch. Our server was very attentive and left us to talk after the meal was done even though there were people waiting for tables.
I’ll definitely eat here the next time we’re in town.
