The place was average at best. The wait staff is very friendly but that doesn’t make up for the average food at above average prices & slow service. They bill themselves as a Steakhouse but they have no clue on how to cook a steak. My NY strip, very undersized for the price, arrived way over-cooked. Since it took close to 40 minutes for the food to arrive, I didn’t send it back, who knows how long a new one would have taken. Also, I got the smashed potato cake and part of the potato was undercooked. So, they over-cook a steak, they under-cook the potatoes. My wife got the chicken, which was very simple. In all honesty, you’ll get a better steak/meal at Outback.

We came for Valentine’s Day brunch. The service was prompt and attentive. Food was delicious! I had the eggs Benedict with crab cake. The people sitting next to us also enjoyed their first experience here. We will return to try dinner.

Quiet and comfortable. Thought it was going to be a lot classier than it was. Was nervous walking in in jeans and a hoodie, but it turned out to be alright. Food was really good, sea scallop appetizer which was delicious. Steak was cooked well. Overall a good place.

My wife and I decided to try the barn and I was surprised at how large the place was. Very comfortable and casual but upscale at the same time. We did have a reservation and the atmosphere was pretty loud with a full bar of patrons. We started off with calamari and found it to be good. Our waitress was very sweet and a little Asian lady filled our water glasses pretty much every time I took a sip of water. It did become funny as we stopped counting after the fifth time. She didn’t say a word and wouldn’t acknowledge you, just pour the water and leave. I ordered the filet mignon with two scallops and the waitress said the hash brown fries were the best so I went with it. My wife ordered the stuffed lobster tail. We waited almost 20 minutes in between the clearing of our calamari and the entrée and while my wife enjoyed the lobster tail when it arrived I was a bit disappointed with the scallops as they were only slightly warm. The filet was very tasty and cooked perfectly but I paid $ 44.00 for that entrée and it certainly wasn’t worth it. I might come back for lunch and try a burger but I certainly will not pick the barn as our place to go for the special night out. Too expensive for my taste as the food is good just nothing special.

We went for Sunday brunch with a group of 5. They have the full lunch menu and the brunch menu and we all got breakfast foods — the tacos, pancakes, waffles, eggs Benedict, and an omelet. The pancakes came with caramel, apples and cinnamon and waffles came with banana foster. Everything was amazing and we’ll definitely be back! Can’t wait to try the dinner menu. Compared to West Hartford, everything was extremely reasonably priced.

My companion and I came here to ring in the new year. It was a bit on the expensive side so we opted for the Cheeseburger. I have to say that it was perfectly cooked and that the fries were really good. We also managed to get a crème brule‘ that was just amazing. I would love to come back and try something other than a burger since the menu had some really tasty looking food on it.

Four of us went for dinner on Saturday night. Be sure you make reservations. We had reservations for 7:15 and waited about 15 minutes. It’s a busy place. Excellent steak and good paella. Music at 9:00pm. Will go back.

Second Visit. *** I want to comment that the portion sizes are small and therefore value is an issue *** Not sure if I will return… first visit had the same issue which I overlooked at the time because I was focused on the menu and new restaurant experience. First Visit… a «wonderful» waitress arrived promptly and was eager to help with any questions. I wanted to scan the menu and wine offerings(very extensive) before ordering. The feeling of The Barn is relaxed and peaceful, but I suspect that weekend evenings are a different mode… I suspect very active and a somewhat happening place. I visited for a late lunch and the abbreviated and lower priced menu. I enjoy sampling offerings to get a sense of the skill from the kitchen and I was not disappointed. Two flat breads, one was with a fig jam and blue cheese, etc. and was OUTSTANDING. The other was a close second and was comprised of chorizo sausage, arugula, and more. Ordered a pickled beet and fennel salad and enjoyed it very much. It included a stuffed goat cheese«croûton» that was the size of a dinner roll and it was the perfect accompaniment. I also ordered the kale hummus appetizer and found it very good, but not as eventful as the other dishes. I was very pleased with every item and found the quality, presentation, and flavor of everything to be extremely good and at friendly prices, each at around $ 11. My next visit will be soon and I plan to try new items, but the fig jam flat bread is a staple for me. Lastly, I have to applaud the server for her attentiveness, demeanor, and excellent service. The Barn has potential, but the VALUE could be better with increased portion size. There are many competing restaurants that offer a better bang for the buck.

So, I really like the idea of the is place. There is not anything else around that offers a great steak house experience so close to home. My wife and I headed here without reservations on a Friday night and the place was packed. We were offered a seat at the«community table» upstairs — a large boardroom type table that seats up to 20 people. We grabbed the end and were greeted shortly by our waitress. First the Cons: — We had to ask 3 times to get the interrogation overhead lighting tuned down to a more appropriate Friday Date Night level. — The blue cheese wedge salad showed up and we waited as long as we could for a any waitress to offer ground Pepper until I just got up went to the bar area and commandeered the salt and pepper mill from there. Salad was delicious! — We ordered 3 sides to go with our steak — Brussell sprouts were amazing but needed to be sent back because it was as if someone had spilled salt on them. And they were OUT of sauteed mushrooms — how the heck does a steak house run out of mushrooms at 7:00 on a Friday night? wtf! The Pros: –Our cheese board showed up and was loaded with great local cheeses and fruit spreads. Great way to start. — Ribeye Steak we shared was very good too — A little heavy handed on the salt as well but cooked perfectly. — Bottle of Avalon Cal. Cab for $ 28 — $ 120 including tip — not bad for 1 steak, 2 sides, a large salad, cheese board and a bottle of wine. Overall the Cons can be chalked up to «working out the kinks and a busy night». I look forward to trying some of the other menu items and plan to be back soon. Staff was friendly even though service was sketchy. Atmosphere is great — there is still some rustic left from the old days after a clearly expensive renovation to this new hot spot.

We recently went for Sunday brunch menu, which is really just a la carte choices, but they have everything you would expect for a late morning breakfast. We all had eggs in one form or another and everyone was happy. I would have liked to have my eggs a little hotter, but the«done-ness» was spot on. We had six people for the meal, and were seated in a large comfortable booth. Also, the place is beautiful inside — the owners have done a fabulous job of turning this place into what should become a destination eatery for the area. We need to go back for dinner to get the full experience. If brunch was any indication, then dinner should be a treat.

Very well remodeled Clean crisp. Had cold seafood platter for 2 appetizer. Fresh. Labeled the oysters. But had to ask for horseradish. Had wedge salad. A bit different odd taste with cucumbers and red peppers. but fresh. No bread and no deserts a bit odd. Very pleasant crisp staff.

Loved this new restaurant. Only wish, for the price, bread was served. Also missed having Bernaise sauce as one of the options. Otherwise, the food was excellent as was the service.

Food was great, it is obvious that someone cares in the kitchen. We had Hushpuppies, Mussels, Beet Salad for apps, all were outstanding. Entrees were Parmesan Crepes and Ribeye, Crepes were very good, steak was overlooked but still very flavorful. Service left something to be desired but they’re new and still working out the kinks and that can be expected. It’s nice to finally have a restaurant in Granby that isn’t just a watering hole serving mediocre food. Once they work out all the start up issues this place will be a great place to dine out. Also drinks were amazing

Good food and atmosphere. It is quieter upstairs if you want more of a conversational atmosphere. Service was good as well. We emailed them to make reservations two days in advance and we were met with a prompt response that we were all set. We were seated where we requested downstairs. My wife and I ordered filet mignon 8 oz. and they were cooked to our liking. Everything was fresh and well prepared. It is a little pricey but everything was cooked comparable to Abigail’s or Flemings, etc… Dessert was delicious and coffee was good too. Only negative is the price but everything supports this being a more upscale restaurant with great service and well cooked food. We will go back. I would like to try a seafood option when I return!

I stopped by «At the Barn» booth at Celebrate Granby. A lovely and charming young lady named Nichole served a delicious clam chowder. I highly recommend trying the latest new restaurant in town!
