A’la Mode

Walked in to this business after a local told me about it and referred me to Melissa. I was lucky as she has a few minutes to fix a badly broken nail– what a sweet young lady — and she did a great job on the new nail. Will remember her when I am back in the area.

I called in for a last minute appointment and they were able to fit me in that day! Cheryl gave me a shellac manicure in the perfect salmon/​pink color! Will definitely go here next time I’m in Granby!

While listed as a single business, A’La Mode is a «booth rental» salon. What’s that? Nothing bad! It just means that each stylist is an independent operator paying rent for the facilities. It also means that you pay your stylist and not the salon. Also not every stylist charges the same or is available during the same hours. This tends to confuse a lot of newcomers who might walk in and find only one gal working at a specific time or day.
While walk-​ins are welcomed, they can’t always be served based upon appointment schedules for the stylists currently working. The best best is to CALL AND MAKE AN APPOINTMENT. Guys tend to wander in aimlessly looking for a quick cut and almost always get turned away.
Nail services are not always available either and rarely on a walk-​in basis. Again, CALL AND MAKE AN APPOINTMENT.
I’ve never used the spa services, but I’m sure my previous notes about an appointment will hold true as well.
Lastly, about those appointments, CALL. Don’t use the online reservation service. The owner doesn’t seem overly reliable.
My personal fave is TANIA LANGE at this Granby salon. She is great. So much fun to talk to and completely focused on ensuring you get the service you deserve. So when you call, ask for TANIA LANGE!!!
