My family and I went to the Granada Hills Grubfest tonight, and every time we go, I like to get a shaved ice for dessert. I hadn’t tried this truck before, but boy am I glad they were there. This is the best shaved ice I’ve ever had. The ice was fluffier than new fallen snow and they soaked it in syrup. I went with pink lemonade and blackberry and got full flavor from the top to the bottom of the cup. The two guys serving were incredibly sweet and friendly, too. I’m making a beeline for this truck the next time I see them.

Great service and great shave Ice. Hired them for my daughters birthday party and it was a hit at the party. Reasonably priced. Definitely hiring surf riders shave ice again in the near future.

Really stupid reasoning! Horrible customer service! They had a line of at least 20 people and one(out of the TWO workers decides to take a break) really? Anyways, I went with a groupon of 8 dollars and it was the last day to use it, but the person said i could only purchase ONE shaved ice with the groupon. so basically i lost money.

I dislike everything about this. Their flavors and syrups are awful. We ended up throwing it away. Such a waste of money! Never again.

first time at this truck… i asked for Tigers Blood + blue raspberry syrup flavors, but they didnt have blue raspberry so still charged me the regular 3.50…i wouldve thought they woul charge me less as good customer service would because they were out of my flavor. this shaved ice didnt taste as good as usually shaved ice; the syrup was more sugary and less flavorful, and the ice seemed like it had been refrozen. wont be back

I had the pleasure of hiring Surf Riders for my daughter’s 1st bday, as well as my 40th bday.(Yes, she was born the same day as me!) I had them come to my party for two hours, they serve all you can eat Shave Ice during that time for one price, which is a great deal. It was the hit of the party, coming out front of my house to see a 23 foot Shave Ice truck with many different flavors. I believe the ice came from block ice, with a shave that is soft and fluffy. I believe the shave was from a machine, but you couldn’t tell at all. Other businesses I’ve been to take 3 – 4 minutes just to make one, and it had more of a crunchiness like a snow cone.(not good!) But not Surf Riders; theirs melted in your mouth so you didn’t have to bite and crunch it to the point you get a tooth ache. They were able to serve many guests in a small amount of time. A lot of my guests went for seconds trying other flavors, even I tried 4 – 5 different ones. If you hire them you will not be disappointed, just make sure to have them come and ready to serve towards the end of your lunch or dinner service, right around dessert time, that way you can maximize the two hours. That’s what we did and it was perfect timing. Chris has a great business, serving yummy Shave Ice to guests, Mahalo to you and your staff and I hope to see you at another party!

I was at the Food Truck event that is held every Friday evening in Granada Hills, I had already eaten and as usual after a meal I was looking for something sweet. I wanted something lite, I spotted the Surf Riders truck and decided to check it out. I wanted to make sure it wasn’t a regular ‘Snow Cone”, you know, that thing that is made from pulverized ice that tastes like you are eating ice with hardly any flavor. Well what I saw didn’t look like one of those old carnival snow cones so I ordered a regular sized Shave Ice with Blue Raspberry & Tigers Blood flavoring. The Shave Ice was piled high and came with a spoon and a straw. The ice was lite and fluffy, like fresh snow. The flavor was good and permeated the ice so that it was flavorful from the top to bottom. When I got to the bottom it was like a slushy and this is where the straw came in handy. The Surf Riders Shave Ice was lite and refreshing and really hit the spot on a warm summer evening!

«Ice Ice baby!» Remember that awesome rip-off of «Under Pressure» by David Bowie and Queen? I am now thirty years old and anything using the word«Ice» brings me right back to 1990 in grammar school and puts a heart throb magazine headshot of Vanilla Ice clearly in my mind. The rad thing is, you can actually order VANILLAICE at this truck! Well, you can order your shave ice with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. It’s not called«Vanilla Ice» but I imagine that they will read this review, immediately«stop, collaborate and listen» and subsequently rectify the situation immediately. I did not order a vanilla Ice today but I can assure you that I will be tracking one down ASAP. For the low, low, bargain price of $ 3 and zero pennies I had a «regular» size shave ice. It was hugemongous. They have every flavor imaginable. I chose Honeydew and something called«Tigers Blood» which it turns out is not made from a winning combination of cocaine and hookers blood but is in fact a super potent flavor bomb made from a mixture of strawberry, watermelon, and coconut syrups that tastes exactly like rainbows and magic. The dude inside the truck was super cool(«too cold» in fact) and that shave ice was the most kick ass, fat-free, low calorie treat I could ever imagine. I want another right now. Word to your mother.
