Haw River Canoe & Kayak is a nice little local business that rents out canoes and kayaks to people to paddle with on the Haw River. The people were nice and funny, good paddling river, and nice canoe and kayaks! When I drove up to Haw River Canoe & Kayak, I could easily find it, though I had to crane my neck to see it. Parking is abundant so it was not a trouble. We walked in and the nice man behind a counter signed us in with no hassle. The process was quick and easy. Then another man got my group paddles and life jackets. Also no hassle. We didn’t have to wait long. Soon, our group got in a van to head down to the river. The man driving the van was nice and threw out some punny jokes. We quickly arrived at the river where another man was waiting to give us our canoes/kayaks. He told us we could do whatever we wanted, we just had to turn around ½ a mile down and come back. We had 3 hours to kayak. When I finally got into the Haw River, I took in the absolute beauty of the place. Little pollution and a perfect day out on the river. The kayak was pretty standard. The 3-hour time limit allowed me to hop off the kayak and enjoy swimming/wading in the water. 3 hours was enough time to get to the ½ mile marker and turn around and rest in the water. I loved this kayaking trip. When I finally came out of the water, a man took our kayaks and we set off back to the Haw River Canoe & Kayak«headquarters». There we changed upstairs(an interesting puppet place occupies the upstairs of the building) in the bathrooms, thanked the staff, and left to enjoy the rest of Father’s Day. Thank you Haw River Canoe & Kayak for helping us to have a splendid, peaceful Father’s Day! I will now be coming back.

Great, helpful staff. They were very knowledgeable and made it easy to get on the river quickly. Provided all the gear, drove us to a put-in spot and launched us on our way. When we were done kayaking, we just had a short walk back to the office.
