Olympia is an old-school diner, a candy store, a soda fountain, all in one. It’s like a drugstore counter minus the drugstore. Only open for breakfast and lunch, with a small, inexpensive menu of things like egg sandwiches, burgers, soup, milkshakes, and my mom’s favorite — the olive nut sandwich. Yes, it’s exactly what it sounds like, and I don’t get it but she loves it. Homemade mayo, green olives and cashews on bread. The food is simple and tasty, the sweets are outrageous, service is friendly and the atmosphere is like stepping back in time 100 years. A Goshen classic.

Stopped in to meet a colleague before heading across the street to the courthouse. The food and coffee were great, and the atmosphere was terrific. Afterwards I returned to buy some candy and caramel apples to take home for the family. You have to admire a place that has been in business at the same location for over a century, but when you have a turtle or caramel apple made here, you realize why.

If you’re in Goshen don’t miss stopping at Olympia Candy Kitchen and taking a step back in time. Is it an old time soda fountain, a lunch counter, a candy shop? Yes, it’s all three. This place is literally 100 years old, and I honestly believe very little has changed in the last 70 years. It’s a comforting feeling to know that something has stood the test of time. I had a delicious BLT, an old fashioned cherry soda, and then stepped over to the candy counter to take home some sweets. I tried quite a sampling of candies and found I really liked the turtles and nut clusters the best. Really enjoyed my visit here.

This is a wonderful breakfast and lunch spot in goshen. My usual order is the pork and olive sandwich, fries, chocolate shake. Potato salad with homemade mayo is great too. Delicious chocolate — my favorites are the Charlie Chaplin, chocolate covered toffee, and turtles. My sister LOVES the peanut clusters. And my mom the nougats. The candy canes and ribbon candy at Christmas are one of a kind and beautiful. Don’t miss the Olympia if you’re in town. Tip: closed on Wednesday.

Visiting family in Goshen and stopped for a bite. LOVE this place! Friendly staff, deliciously simple food, and phosphate sodas sooooo delicious! If you like to get a taste of traditional Midwest atmosphere, food & service, this is a terrific place to enjoy!

It took me a while to warm up to this place. The menu is sparse with some throwback offerings like the nut-olive sandwich others have mentioned. Not being much of a fan of either nuts nor olives I’ve never ordered it. But what I have ordered I like. What they do they do pretty well and consistent. I can’t say I’m terribly fond of their chocolate. It’s not as sweet and creamy as the wonderful Italian chocolate I grew up with in Erie, PA.

I’ve been here for breakfast and lunch over the years and it is ok, not fabulous. I love to sit down and get a Green River fountain drink though. But, the candy… GAH! My favorite thing is Charlie Chaplin, marshmellow covered in milk chocolate, coconut and peanuts. It is the best. And their turtles are great as well.

This is a review only for the diner — not the candy. Our party of 3 arrived on a dreary Saturday at lunch time. It was busy not overly. As others have said — the place is lodged in a time capsule era of Happy Days and earlier. Neato. Informing out waitress it was our first time there — we asked about the best selling items on the menu; sandwiches: nut olive(a house made cashew-olive mashup), stuffed olive, burger, tenderloin — «really anything». I ordered the double fried egg sandwich w/cheese and house made mayo on whole wheat, the Mrs. had the fried egg and ham w/cheese and the 3rd wheel ordered the tenderloin — all buttressed by the french fries. Our food was serviceable, but nothing standout. Must be small eggs BTW — I was still hungry after my $ 5 egg sandwich on extra thin and very small lightly toasted bread. Nice portion of fries but nothing was served hot — just warm. The whole experience reminded me of the cafes from decades back that advertised themselves as the«Sanitary Diner». Our bill tallied $ 20 not including tip for 3 lite lunches, I’m not wowed. We left and walked in the cold breeze 3 blocks south and got a hot dozen of Gus’ Little Orbits w/cinna-sugar and felt better about the Goshen run. When I elect to give this place another try — I’ll get the burger and hope for the best.

With today’s fast pace of life have you ever walked out the door feeling like you have forgotten something but you can’t figure out what it is? The best way to figure it out is to drop in the Olympia and slow down for a little while forgetting whatever is troubling you that day. The Olympia is as accurate depiction of what Goshen was like over six decades ago. I would almost like to go so far as to say you can taste the town’s history in a bite of one of the uniquely Goshen sandwiches like my personal favorite the pork and olive or one of the hand dipped chocolate candies such as a turtle or Charlie Chaplin. The breakfasts are good and solid with fresh squeezed orange juice done to the order. Whether you are passing through or have lived in Goshen your whole life the Olympia is and always will be worth a visit.

The place has a very quaint feel to it with the very long counter seating, high molded ceiling, and chromed edging. As far as food goes though, it is fairly standard diner fare. I have been a couple times, nothing is necessarily bad, but I haven’t seen a whole lot that stands out. Their phosphates and flavored sodas are very tasty, and I will probably return for that. I will probably skip the food personally as I am not a big proprietor of heavy greasy food(such as my burger that greased through the bun in my hands). I haven’t had an opportunity to try from the small selection of candies available but will have to investigate further. The majority appeared to be fudges or chocolate-based candies.

Olympia is one of my favorite places to eat in Goshen, I work downtown and eat here at least once a week, the food is constantly good, the waitresses are consistently cute and friendly. You can get a really good breakfast or lunch for under $ 7 which is pretty awesome. Their Pancakes & Breaded Tenderloin are my favorite things on their menu. Also buy a couple chocolate turtles, they are always really good!

The food isn’t terrible, but I’ve had better. Their burgers and fries are so-so. Their breakfast is actually pretty decent. They actually have real orange juice where they pretty much squeeze oranges into a glass and serve it to you. It’s weird at first, but really good. Overall, it’s not too bad.

This place is like 100 years old, literally. In a good way. I can sum it up like this: If you’re in Goshen and thinking about going to Bob Evans for breakfast, turn it around honey and head to Olympia Candy Kitchen. You’ll just die as you walk into a completely different time, somehow preserved for us to enjoy in the Bob Evans age. Excellent sandwiches, breakfast all the time, and delicious desserts. Check it out. You’ll be amazed.

This old school candy kitchen and diner is in the heart of Downtown Goshen. Straight out of the 1800’s and all the candy is made right there in the store. Jordan Almonds, Turtles, ribbon candy and chocolates. Sitting down for breakfast or lunch is a treat. Their menu is classic American all around as well featuring burgers and sandwiches. Stop by this retro gem if you are in town!

I stopped into this downtown Goshen landmark with the GF for a bite to eat while visiting her family for the holidays. The atmosphere is friendly and the food was inexpensive and tasty. I had a delicious bacon cheeseburger and the waitress didn’t bat an eye when I asked her to put a fried egg on it. The GF had this odd specialty called the Olive Nut Sandwich. It is actually much better than it sounds. The real gem at Olympia and the reason for it’s name, is the candy that is made in the kitchen at the back of the restaurant. Homemade turtles, chocolate covered nuts and assorted sugar candies are worth a small sampling if you find yourself in the neighborhood!
