Thanksgivings Resturant & Legends Pub

While on a recent trip to the Mt Washington area, while on our way home, we found ourselves in the Gorham NH area in need of a place to grab something to eat before making the long trip home. Not wanting to eat at a chain, and preferring to support a small, local restaurant, we found ourselves in Legends Pub for lunch. The place was completely deserted, which should have served as a warning. The hostess /​waitress was as pleasant as she could be under the fascist régime she must have been under. Being a vegetarian, my options were limited. Although we were at an establishment that certainly doesn’t even acknowledge the fact that someone could not eat meat, I assumed a place as deserted as this would have some interest in accomodating me. When ordering, the rest of my group placed their orders and when it came to me I asked to order a grilled cheese sandwich. the waitress informed me that since it was on the kids menu, the lady in the back, presumably the owner/​manager has been refusing to fulfill these orders becuase of the age restriction. I informed her that I didn’t care what she charged me, and that all I wanted was a grilled cheese. She said she would try to make it happen. She came back and informed me that «she» wouldn’t make it. Now I understand the reasoning behind this from a financial standpoint, but I was willing to pay whatever she asked for it. I was shocked that a place so deserted was so unwilling to accommodate a paying customer. This blatant disregard of customer service was both offensive and shocking. The rest of party ate their overpriced, heavy, and unfulfilling sandwiches and we got the hell out of there. If you ever find yourself in this area and are wondering if you should venture into this establishment I would say this: if you are in the mood for overpriced sandwiches in a outdated, uncomfortable dining room with zero customer service and hospitality for travelers not seen since the Oregon trail, give it a shot. Otherwise, avoid this place like the plague and go elsewhere. With any luck, this place will be forced out of business and this lady can go back to where she belongs, cooking burgers at Wendy’s and complaining how the government ruined the economy and how great she had it when she owned her own establishment; refusing to acknowledge that maybe, her shitty attitude made her place of business a piss ant pawnshop not worthy of the scum between my toes.
