We were visiting Smith Mountain Lake and wanted something for the kids to do… The tour was really interesting and Alpaca were adorable. My daughter was able to feed them which she loved. Worth the stop if you’re in the area.

I cannot rave enough about this place. While staying in the Blue Ridge we decided to take the kids in our group to the Alpaca farm. I personally was unsure what these animals are and how could they be any fun but thought, what the heck. We were met by the couple that own the farm. These are seriously nice people. They explained what alapacas were, where they are from, their care from feed to medical, and then took us out to feed the alpacas. This was a crazy experience. Alapacas do not have top teeth so feeding them is safe and weird feeling. As we washed up we were offered cold beverages to combat the hot day. Like I said these are some of the nicest people. They have a shop where they sell fiber from their alpacas and other alpaca goods they procure from other alapcas farmers. The fiber from alpacas is akin to cashmere so I purchased some beautiful gloves for the winter. If you want a relaxing and knowledgable experience for alpacas come here.
