Metropolitan Barber Shop

In and out in 20 minutes. Showed Tina a picture of what I wanted and it was so. Finished neck and sideburns with straight razor and followed with quick shoulder massage. Very meticulous and very quick. Very good value for 15.00.

Nothing terrible about this barbershop but just a warning… the Asian woman who cuts hair here doesn’t know what a bald fade is. I get a bald fade with a 3 on top. It’s pretty simple. She didn’t get it. I said every word I could, like «bald», «skin», «zero», «nothing», on the sides… and the 3 on top should need no explanation. At one point she said «two?» for the top, even though the number two had not even been spoken at all. She then did a quick 3 ½ on top and a 1 ½ on the sides, no fade, no bald. She asked how it was and I said good, as I just wanted to go get it fixed somewhere else at this point. She then said «next time just say 3 ½ and 1 ½». In my head I said «No I’m not gonna say that next time because that’s not what I wanted in the first place!» But to her I actually just said OK thanks. I guess I can’t go to this barbershop.

Metropolitan Barber Shop is my local barbershop, and therefore I think it’s the best.
What, you want more? Fine.
It’s conveniently (for Goldenites) located in downtown Golden. The prices are good, a bit better than Supercuts, say, but mostly equivalent. But it’s the people that make Metropolitan Barber Shop, in my opinion, the best barber shop in Golden. Lily, one of the two main barbers, has excellent skill and takes the time to get your cut right. I don’t know his name, but the main male barber (who I believe is an owner, and has been cutting hair for years) is likewise excellent.
They also use a straight-​razor at the end of the cut, mixing up their own warm lather, to finish off sideburns and back of the neck. If you’re lucky and/​or they’re not busy, they also do a brief shoulder and neck massage after the haircut! I’ve been coming here for three years now, and every time I go to other barbers in the area it never lives up to the cut I get here.
