Riverside, CA
This place would be GREAT for kids. They have a one-​room schoolhouse, a blacksmith, some farm animals, an heirloom garden, and friendly, interactive docents. It’s right by the Astor House Museum, so you can do both in one day and get a feel of the high life and the workingman’s experience. It wasn’t my favorite place to visit during my trip, but I enjoyed the chickens, if nothing else!
