The Chart House is a regular for our dining. It is located up on a mountain in Golden and has a great view of downtown Denver lights at night. The ambience is very romantic and intimate. The wait staff is extremely polite and helpful. The menu has a variety of gourmet foods elegantly prepared. It’s a winner!

Four of us ate here on a Saturday night and had a very nice evening The restaurant was full but not every seat was taken. We had reservations and were seated immediately. Our server came to the table right away and was very attentive throughout the meal. She was knowledgeable about the menu and gave some good advice when ordering. We found the salad bar well stocked with a very good variety, all fresh. The food came out of the kitchen in a timely manner. The oysters, blackened Salmon, beef ribs and Caesar salad were all very good. The Lobster bisque was only lukewarm and the Charcuterie had apparently been sitting out a while as the cheese was getting hard and the toast stone cold. Our server, Meg, who was great, offered to replace the cheese herself but my wife was already full from the oysters and salad decided just to take the remaining cheeses and meats home. Finally, although expected, everything was a bit pricey. By the way, our server explained that the building boiler had broken down several months ago and took some time to fix. She said guests had to wear coats when eating and it was very cold which explains some of the comments on this page. We were there January 162015 and the building was warm and comfortable

Horrible experience. No heat in the dining area for the past two days and they never informed us. They purchased inadequate space heaters and then refused to move them from empty rooms with no diners. Understaffed. Long waits for every phase of ordering. The Mgr was not helpful, made the excuse he just came in today so was not aware of the heat problem two days before. Very expensive for the mediocre quality of food. Took 20 minutes to receive a drink. We will not go back and used to enjoy all the Chart Houses.

This review is for happy hour only, available from 4−7pm all days except Saturday. Happy hour menu includes a nice selection of appetizer plates from $ 4-$ 7. Today I ordered a starter off the dinner menu for $ 14(the Wicked Ahi Tuna) and it was fantastic with beautiful presentation(see pic) and the fried artichoke hearts(I like how it’s more of a light tempura that a crusted deep fried taste). It was delicious and enough for my dinner. Two fruity mojitos are on the happy hour menu but I don’t like sweet drinks so I request a regular mojito. It’s consistently okay(not bad, not great). I think the glass is so tall they have to make it economical. I would prefer a smaller or skinnier glass to improve quality(it’s a big drink). They have crayons and coloring menu for kids. The happy hour section has lounge chairs and a view of the outdoor fire pit. This a beautiful restaurant if you appreciate ambiance and service has been good in the happy hour section. This area is a good size but does fill up(especially on Friday) so try to arrive by 6 if you want to dine from the happy hour menu(sun– wed is less busy) because you need to sit in this section.

We went here last night after moving and it was excellent!!! The food was tasty, especially the blue cheese filet. The atmosphere was very relaxed with some really eye catching lighting. Don’t even get me started on the views of the Denver area; breathtaking. Our server was so patient and accommodating because we were catching up with family at the table. I can not remember his name currently but he was amazing! UPDATE: I found our receipt. His Name was Jake and he was awesome!!!

This restaurant used to be a favorite for special occasions. However, over the years, the food quality has gone down and the prices have gone up. We can go to a chain restaurant and get a better steak — for a fraction of the price! The shrimp appetizer was over cooked — as well as the lava cake special desert — leaving no «lava» in the middle of the cake. We came in for a special birthday celebration. The Chart House will put«Happy Birthday» and the date on the top of the menu. The disappointing thing is they put the WRONG date at the top of the menu. How hard is it to know what date it is? And we never got our leftovers to take home with us. Apparently the servers take your food in the kitchen to be boxed up — and we never got the food back. Which is just as well, the food wasn’t that great anyway. A very disappointing and a very expensive meal. We will not be back.

We were seeking a nice restaurant with a view and great cuisine so the Chart House came to mind. We arrived and were seated in Curtis’ section. He took our drink orders and poured our water right away. We started our meal with a dozen oysters on the half shell which were flavorful and succulent. Next came great clam chowder as well a couple of us ordered lobster bisque. Both came perfectly seasoned and at a perfect temperature. I ordered prime rib which was paired with very nice whipped potatoes. One in our party ordered short ribs. They were fork tender with a very nice reduction sauce. A third entrée was seared scallops. They were rich and nicely seasoned. He evening ended with a great key lime pie and chocolate ice cream pie. The only shortcoming to the meal was that our sever was not very attentive. We had to signal him for refills on water, tea, bread and needed condiments. But otherwise a good evening.

I won’t waste time giving details so will instead summarize our experience: 1) Nearly empty at 8pm on a Saturday but out of 4 different entrée choices 2) Waiter tried to up-sell on everything and in a robotic, scripted way 3) Overcooked, over-priced salmon(if that was King salmon, it was the tail) 4) Will never go back.

Excellent dinner. We had the chop salad, bronzed tilapia with rice, bread and for dessert, mud pie. The bread was warm, salad crisp and tasty, fish cooked to perfection and very yummy. We finished the meal off with coffee and mud pie. We were extremely pleased. Service was great and everyone was super friendly. I would have given 5 stars but we had two complaints. First, the website for this location says they have magnificent hilltop views, this is not true. Right outside the windows is the highway. Waaaaaaaaay off in the distance you can see a tiny sliver of the Denver area but to call the view magnificent is ludicrous. Our second complaint was where we were seated. Our table was so close to the people seated next to us that we had to move the table over and up about 10 inches plus remove a chair for my dinner guest to awkwardly slide out of her seat. Very romantic, this would be the perfect location for a special occasion. Enjoy!

Is it even possible to have a $ 37 New York strip as tough as leather? The steak also looked like it was cut with a chain saw! What the hell is going on? We have eaten at the Chart House dozens of times over the past 30 years, and the restaurant has gone down hill for the past 10 of those years and just keeps getting worse! The Manager was no where to be seen, and I decided not to embarrass my wife by strangling the«chef». What… your cooks clearly do not have the skill sets to cook! The place was full of drunks chugging down drinks in the bar during happy hour… virtually no one in the restaurant! Change the name of your restaurant to «Dive Bar of the Rockies»… We will NEVER be back, and I will tell everyone I know both in social media and in my personal circle, what I think about your Restaurant! Your hostesses are a bunch of stuck up snobs… and could care less about your customers. Also had to ask for lettuce in the salad bar, which had not been set out yet… no one on your staff even noticed! Good riddance!!!

If there was a sign out front I would have told you it was a fish shack that didn’t know how to cook fish. Service was so slow. In the time we got our salads w no appetizer tables next to us got there salads and were ready for entrees. Our Salad orders got messed up which meant mine sat for 15 minutes before my wife’s tomato salad showed up. Her salad was good at least. When our main dishes showed up 1 hour late after two other tables had almost finished their entrees(again we didn’t order apps), my halibut was very over cooked as was my wife’s mahi. At least hers was semi edible. I couldn’t even cut into mine w a fork. When Jason the manager came by the first time, it was only after we complained about the over cooked fish. We pointed out the long delay in getting our food and it was suggested it was our fault. Mind that the two other tables had finished and we’re now paying while they remade the halibut. It was suggested by the manager that we were apparently In a hurry, as if it were our fault. When my halibut showed back up(now at one hour and fifteen minutes) it was quite good although the risotto had been rushed and was runny and quite watery. But worse the manager actually waited while it was tasted. Had to ask him to just leave at this point. He should have just brought it out and apologized and then come back to check on us In a minute rather than hover. The waitress was pleasant but didn’t recognize early enough there were problems and didn’t get her manager involved quick enough. Or maybe she did and he didn’t do anything. It was other servers that apologized for the salad delay. We got our salads and halibut comp’d. But we didn’t go to the chart house for that. We went to have a nice dinner. When Jason came back he finally recognized they had made mistakes. If only they had done this from the start… we understand things go wrong but this is a over the top. At a minimum a fish place should know how to cook fish.

Went for Happy Hour Friday night, atmosphere was great with many folks celebrating the end of the work week. Happy hour wines were good. I had the Cab and my two female companions had Chard’s. We decided to order a few appetizers which was dinner for the three of us. We ordered the Prime Rib Sliders, Calamari plate, Mediterranean Chicken and Fish Tacos. All of these were excellent. Our waiter was excellent and was very attentive to our need for quick service from the kitchen and keeping our glasses full. We will be back soon!

Surprisingly this out of the way Chart House does a brisk business. It’s an upscale area and there’s not a lot of options of course so, they benefit. I went for a Friday happy hour, very packed, but bartenders friendly and the happy hour deal — which is 7 days a week — is a great deal for food and drink. I didn’t dine but will go again. Nice deck, great location. I give it 4 because outside of happy hour, it’s a very pricey place and I’ve never had 5 star food at any Chart House I’ve been to nationwide. BUT, up the street in the little shopping strip is the Hideaway. THAT is a great place! Terrific menu, GREAT bar, good reasonablyl price food, and a great outside deck with fires. They have live music several nights a week. I guess it just reopened not long ago after a bit of a redesign and menu update. Terrific! Highly recommend you pass on Chart House and check this place out.

The food was amazing, when we received our food on the second go-around! The atmosphere was great until the management burst-out into a tangent about our return food, as it was not prepared to our liking. We could hear him in the background yelling about how this food looked to be prepared perfectly the way we had asked. Another thing we noticed, was the managements lack of leadership. We own our own business, which would not be anything without the help of our staff. It is VERY evident the management walks all over their employees by the way they communicate with them, and by way of recognition — there was NONE. In a nut-shell: –Food is great!(Cooks prepare good food once we got it the second-time) –Service was good. Server was cheerful, helpful, and very kind. –Management is TERRIBLE, they show a lack of management skill, and lack the ability to lead — New management is requested for our return back to the Chart House.

Ugh! We have been to the one in DC and it was amazing! This location was absolutely awful. The waiter was bad, but not as bad as the food. My fish was bone dry without any flavors. The food was blend and tasteless. Hated that we waisted a celebration dinner. We should have listened to Unilocal.Do NOT waste your time!

I don’t actually even know how to begin. We ate here a while back and had a horrendous experience. Made a reservation and were seated quickly, and that is the last good thing that happened. My husband and I actually rented out and were married at the Chart House in Dana Point, CA, it was a perfect experience dealing with that location. We definitely had high expectations for the Colorado location and hoped this could be our special occasion spot. Well thats not happening. We ordered appetizers dinner, dessert, salad bar, drinks, you name it we ordered it… the kitchen was apparently backed up and took over an hour to bring out the first appetizer! It was ridiculous, our server did not mention anything and when we asked what the hold up was, she just said that they were busy. It was not packed at all. The manager throughout our entire visit was walking around… in what appeared to be a panic, we tried to stop him multiple times and were completely ignored. We mentioned to our server about our wedding and she simply said that she didn’t know there was a location there. I wasn’t expecting a parade out of her, but seriously that was it?! Come on. All in all my husbands dinner was terrible and he didn’t eat it, we told her it was bad and she didn’t offer to replace his dinner or take it off the check. The best part of the dinner was the serve yourself salad bar. I honestly could go on and on about how horrible it was and how we will not be back. Paying that enormous bill made me incredibly angry. Were heading back to CA this month and are thrilled to enjoy a meal at the Dana Point location.

I do not disagree with past reviews however my wife and i went there fir our anniversary. They gave us personalized menu s service was amazing and food amazing. They remembered with a free crème brulet. They have a special section w 3 course meal fir $ 30. Had short ribs which were excellent. Wife had panko chicken and loved it. Apparently have a new chef who is a great addition. I would try again.

The Chart House used to be a very nice place with good service and great food. USEDTOBE! Went there last weekend. It was like they went on craigslist and specifically hired all of the people who had been fired for being bad servers, or rude obnoxious wannabes. The wait time was way too long for being nearly empty. The wine list was put together by a 5 year old by the way it looked. They tried to upcharge on everything. The steak was so chewy Im sure it was probably road kill on the interstate nearby a few days before. This will be a great spot for someone to lease and fix up when it eventually closes. It will take some money to make it fresh again. This company obviously does not care to make it work again!

I took my date here after hearing from a friend that it’s a cool view. However, the view is only a little bit of the city in the distance, the highway, and a grassy hill — not impressive. The demographic when we were there made us feel like we were eating at a retirement home — or some sort of club where older people wanted to eat predictable food and pay too much for it. In our mid-late twenties, we stood out. Overall, for the very expensive prices, the menu was far from creative, the flavors were mediocre, and the food was not fresh by any means. We made the mistake of paying for the salad bar and the fruits tasted like chlorine. On the positive side — the service was wonderful. However, it was quite robotic/corporate. I much prefer restaurants where the servers show a bit more personality. When I am going to drop that kind of money on a meal again, I will definitely be going somewhere else where there is more care put into the food and an actual dining experience. I am somewhat embarrassed I was lured in by the view and took my date here instead of one of the much better restaurants in downtown Denver. My date and I had a good laugh about it, though.

The Chart House is convenient for us due to its proximity. It’s ideal for appetizers and drinks at the bar but we’ve always considered the food just«ok» for the price. Last night, the service was EXTREMELY slow and while my wife’s dinner was great, my king crab legs were not good. Edible, barely, but far from $ 45 worth. Our waiter was polite and courteous but he was doing all of the running and was obviously in need of assistance. After waiting 10 mins to be greeted once seated, 15 mins for app and drink orders, 30+ mins for dinner, we finally ordered our check with dessert and ended up canceling the dessert after another 10 minutes since we could no longer wait for it to arrive and still have time to eat it. We were with another couple that had to leave after an hour and it was almost a total of 2 hours, most awaiting food, etc. As we left, we noticed the entire other half of the restaurant we were unable to see was completely empty. Unacceptable service time given the capacity. I mentioned to our server that he should have a runner helping him out as it was obvious he was being stretched thin but he indicated that was only on holidays, etc. We’ll come back for happy hour at the bar but I feel ripped off from our last dinner.
