Based on how clean the room was when we arrived my rating should be higher. The reason a knocked a star(or 2) off is directly related to the sparseness of the place. No a/c, ceiling fans and the window has a 12 – 14 tall slider in it. The gal at the front counter on check in was quick and well practiced but her accent was borderline too heavy for me. The room does have a tv, fridge and microwave. The bad part is they are all plugged into a power strip in the ONLYOUTLET in the room. There is another outlet at the phone/dressing mirror and one in the bathroom. Charging your phone or laptop up could be slightly problematic. The place is showing its age but the paint is fresh, the sheets were clean and everything was exactly as you expect it on entering. Oh, the only visual defect in the room was a wood plate used to mount the toilet paper roll over(guessing here) the hole where the in-wall paper dispenser used to be.

Me and my wife stayed here for two night for a music festival. It was no frills but very very clean. The staff was very friendly but had no knowledge of the town that surrounds them. At $ 95 a night it was over priced. But overall we had a great stay and will concider staying there for the festival next year.

This was my second stay at the Azalea. Both times we have rented the family unit which easily accommodates 4 adults. The Azalea has a great location and it is very clean. This is why I will never stay there again– The first morning I observed another guest mix a packet of instant oatmeal from the meager breakfast selection. She politely asked if there was milk. She was told that others use dry non-dairy creamer(ugh!) But then the woman behind the counter told her she had milk… but not before making the request sound completely out of line. I thought the guest had been treated rudely but it was none of my business. The next morning my friend and I went in to get coffee and the pre-packaged pastry that passes for breakfast at 9:06. Breakfast ends at 9:00 and this time we were the recipients of the rude behavior. Finally– we woke on our final morning to discover our unit had no hot water. A call to the office got the reply, «Why?» Ummmm. we didn’t know why! When I mentioned that the previous evening the water had been lukewarm, she came back at me with an attitude. Apparently it was my fault the water was cold! Ultimately she did call someone to repair the(?) and did offer to let us shower in an unoccupied unit(we declined) I can find other«no frills» clean motels in a good locations– I will not return to a place that is inhospitable and rude.

This place is no frills but it’s a throwback, charming old-style roadside place. Extremely clean and fairly quiet, too. I liked the character of it. Good price for what you get, which includes a free continental breakfast.

Stayed here with my wife. Inexpensive and very clean. The people that run the place are very nice. Did I say clean? VERY clean. I would come back again.

A very well run sleepy hotel. Friendly staff, extremely clean and easy on the wallet. Refrigerator and microwave included as well as free Wi-Fi. My only complaint is there were no plugs available to recharge electronics other than in the bathroom, and a power strip behind the TV, Refrigerator & Microwave. Will most definitely stay there again if the opportunity arises!

Best thing was it’s cleanliness and there wasn’t significant road noise. However, the walls were paper thin. No frills but free wifi.

We were visiting family in Brookings, but could not find a motel at a decent price(all that were left available were tiny rooms and ocean-view and $ 200+) so we searched Unilocal and found this treasure in nearby Gold Beach. My wife, myself, and our adult daughter spent the night there and the total cost was under $ 80! Taxes included! The staff was so uncommonly nice, and the room was immaculate. We were all also impressed by how BIG the rooms were. Our room had a single and double bed, but was so big it could have easily accommodated 3 – 4 doubles. The beds were very comfortable, big bathroom/shower, fridge and microwave included, even a nice table and chairs to sit around when eating our meals. WiFi was provided free of charge, and worked very well. Everything about this place demonstrated that it was well kept and well cared for. From now on, it will be our go-to destination whenever we’re in the area.

Hard to believe I could give a 4 star to a place that only charges $ 50 for a room but believe it… it’s real. One of the cleanest hotel rooms I have stayed in and I stay in hotels on average 12 nights a month. The décor is totally low end beach, but it is in good repair and the bed was quite comfy. Also I was surprised to find a refer and micro in the room too boot. Located in the heart of Gold Beach, across from the High School it is an easy walk to the beach(head south to 8th street) and an easy walk north to the Sea Star for drinks. I was given a 15% discount card for dinner at Spinners across the street but didn’t use it. I highly recommend Azalea Lodge… it’s not high end, but you could do a helluva lot worse for double the dough.

As we drove in to register we were pleasantly surprised at how very clean & welcoming the grounds were. The owner was very nice & had our room ready for us. Our room was very clean, a little larger than most & had all the basics we needed. .. . small refrigerator, microwave, tv & wifi connection, even a hair dryer & everything worked great. After a full day of traveling we really appreciated the shower, with lots of water pressure & plenty of HOT water. The bed was very comfy. The curtains were blackout type making the room very dark & great for a good night sleep. We stayed 4 nights & didn’t have any complaints. Great place to stay & reasonable rates. We HAVE recommended this great find to our friends who will be visiting Gold Beach, Ore. soon.

Very friendly and clean family run business. We arrived very late on a cold rainy night and the owner was kind enough to stay up late for us and had our room toasty warm and ready. They price was about the best in town because they didn’t have an ocean view which did not bother us at all. The owner was very helpful with a variety of things during our visit and I’m sure we will stay there again.

A little sleepy hotel in a little sleepy town. The staff was very nice and it was family run. Prices were also good. Can’t ask for much more, a clean room, good staff, a working bathroom and tv, at a reasonable price.
