The sushi roll was tiny bites of crab with WAY too much rice wrapped around. It tasted more like store bought sushi than anything and they skimp you on the fish. Our party enjoyed the oysters and buffalo app which is the reason I’ve given this restaurant a 3 star rating. The service was horrible. There were 8 of us. I asked for 8 waters and she brought 6. Then, she never came back with more when we placed our order. Someone else brought the food out and she never came by to ask how we were doing. She seemed to be in quite a hurry, but that’s no excuse to dismiss tables of customers. There is plenty of seating and pretty short wait times. If you sit out back, the live band is way too loud. You couldn’t hear anyone around you or have a decent conversation. The bar seems like the hot spot outside and is pretty fast with their service. It is convenient to the location of our friends boat, but I’m not in a hurry to return anytime soon.

I’m not sure why people rated this place so poorly. The view was outstanding. The waitress was never late with anything. And the food was outstanding. We had the chowder, soft shell crabs, lobster rolls, fried shrimp roll. Wow wow wow.

What a wonderful way to end our trip to Gloucester. Award winning clam chowder and my first lobster roll. Also had fried clams and old style lobster roll with butter. Our waitress, Jenn was absolutely charming and on the money with her suggestions. Great service, great food. A little hidden gem well worth looking for.

I had dinner with a friend a couple of weeks ago. I’ve been there in the past, actually quite a bit when they initially opened for dinner and the food was above average. However most recently, I’m not impressed. The service was very good, but the food has gone down hill. I’ve eaten there several times in the past 6 months and last summer it was also lacking. I had the shark bites, which used to be really good but the past 2 times I’ve gotten them they were extremely dry. I also had the caprese salade which had mushy tomatos apprently time for the trash. Didn’t finish those after one bite. Sorry but that’s not what I expect as a paying customer when I go out to dinner. To be served tomatos that are beyond their consumption point is insulting. I didn’t bother returning either, I just won’t eat there again. The drinks are very small for the price, not like Katrinas. I always give a place several shots to get it together but they really blew it. Maybe time to rethink their strategy since there is a lot of competition moving into town. May need to up their game.

My god daughters first birthday party was here today. It costs 350 $ for an hour of set up and two hours of party time. The help was smiley and pleasant. They did a table with placement set ups, some balloons and a couple tables for the food that was included(five pizzas that they get a discount on, which I know because I work at the parlor they order from). I figured the pool would be reserved for an hour for the party but that wasn’t the case. When we asked for towels, they told us they were 2 $ each. Honestly baffled as to what exactly cost 350 $… To use the balcony space? Because other than that and the 30 dollars they spent on pizza, nothing was included. Two dollars a towel? What do you throw them away after? What did the 350 go towards then? Really thought it was ridiculous.

I’d heard good things about Mile Marker so we decided to take my mother here for an early birthday breakfast. It’s easy to find with plenty of parking. I thought the lay-out was different. There’s a huge pool on the first floor(there are 2 floors with the second overlooking the pool). I assume guests from the hotel that’s attached and/or parties use the pool. Looked tempting. Having a heated pool though made it extremely hot. It felt like we were in a sauna. In fact, I heard several other customers complaining about the heat. They had fans going but it wasn’t helping much. We sat on the second floor which may have been a mistake as it seemed like we had little service due to being away from the main floor with all the action. Our waitress was nice but a little clueless. I ordered a mimosa and we tried to order a shandy(advertised everywhere in the downstairs bar area) and the waitress had no idea what that even was. She then discovered they didn’t have it so we went with another beer choice. The beverages(even coffee) are served in plastic and paper cups. Tiny portions. The prices aren’t high but be aware that the portions are just tiny and you’ll need several of any drink you order as it goes fast. The menu is okay. Your standard fare with a bit of Gloucester seafood flavor. I tried the steak tips and eggs(great steak), my mother ordered the eggs and hash and my friend ordered the veggie hollaindaise. The food was just okay. You get a ton of home fries, however, they’re very flavorless. They could do with being cooked with spices or even chopped onions. Pretty boring. The steak was awesome. Everything else, including the hash, really hasn’t anything special and was too bland. Prices are great. For 4 drinks, a coffee and 3 full breakfasts it came to around $ 60. With so many breakfast/brunch places in the area we’ll probably not be back but it’s worth trying once if you’re looking for a new breakfast place.

I ate here today for lunch and had the very best clam chowder I have ever eaten. Had to order another bowl to take home for supper.

Extremely disappointed with the mile marker that I go to frequently at least 2 or 3 times a month but today was the last time. The service has gone way downhill lately along with some of the food. There is always a long wait to be seated, not a big deal, but our server came by our table 2 times the whole meal to take our order and to bring the check that we sat there with empty plates for 20 mins until she brought it to us. The food runners rolled their eyes at us when the put our plates in front of all the wrong people. Unfortunately the amazing views aren’t enough to keep us around anymore. Will not be returning here again Edit* gave it another chance and would rather get a burger from mcdonalds. While their kitchen is being renovated, somehow they still charge $ 8 for a tiny burnt burger patty with lettuce tomato a side of small bag of chips and a pickle?! Not sure why they even ask you how you want it cooked, i guess medium rare means well done. At least the service at the pool bar was WAY better this time

I really want to like this place. Given it a few chances this year. The food is really good, atmosphere is second to none, but the management must have this place understaffed. Longest wait of any place around. When the food finally arrives, each time it’s missing part of the order or the order is completely messed up, and then you have to wait even longer for the correct order. They even ran out of glasses this morning for orange juice and water. Only a place badly management allows this to happen.

Went to Mile Marker One Restaurant for a birthday celebration on a Friday evening and the food was delicious and the service was excellent! We were a party of 12 and had reservations and it was our first time being there and I’m glad it turned out to be a good decision. I would definitely return again. Our server Ben did a wonderful job. We didn’t have to wait to be seated, we were taken right away. The portions size of the food was excellent. A lot of food! the drinks were really good. The pour was right on! Thanks so much for making my birthday dinner phenomenal!

My husband & I ate here for dinner and we ended up sitting in the outdoor patio, as there was a 45 minute wait for a table inside, so we went to the bar and patio to get a drink and found out we could eat out there. It seemed to be the pick of the night for dinner was the lobster roll, we must have seen at LEAST15 of them being served while we were there and my husband was having a bit of food envy as they looked great and he didn’t get one. I got an asian salad w/chicken and it was superb(I’m not a seafood fan)…I gobbled up every last bite and my husband had the lobster bisque which he said was quite tasty as well. They had a band getting ready to play, however we left before they stared up, but I imagine it would have been rocking. Definitely would be a great place to sit and chill for a while after having dinner so you could listen to the live music, unfortunately we had plans afterward so we were in and out quick.

I wasn’t super impressed with this restaurant. It has a nice view, being right in the marina, with boat docks all around. The food was mediocre. The spinach dip was a bit too vegetable-y for me, like spinach with a splash of cheese. Crab cakes were good, probably the highlight of my meal. Burger was good(tho the description for the Cali burger said avocado pulp, which ended up being guacamole… just odd). The Maine Lobster roll needed a bit of flavoring, and needed a higher quality butter to go with it. Mixed drinks weren’t that tasty, neither my wife nor I wanted to drink it. We ordered the coconut custard pie for dessert, and it was extremely disappointing; it looked like they bought a pie at Market Basket and just threw it on a plate, for $ 6, I was expecting something more. That was just a disappointing end to an unimpressive experience.

Mile Marker One is a nice reprieve from the places that line the harbor. It’s out at the marina and offers a nice change of scenery. The prices are reasonable and the food is very good. Good service and a great atmosphere. It’s connected to the hotel so there’s usually a lot of action at the bar next door and for any fans of Wicked Tuna, the crew docks right outside.

We stumbled on this place after a hike in rockport. Good variety of food from seafood to sandwiches. Loved the outdoor deck bear the river. Nice service, efficient. Excellent lobster roll! Fries well done. Clams were ok. Drinks awesome … Try the Painkillers.

Service was not good and the food was the same. However, if your looking to kick back and relax, the music is top notch.

We have been to Mile Marker a number of times. When we first started going we thought it was great. Beside the atmosphere, the food was good too. Then it started going down hill. Don’t know what happened. Obviously the scenery is still pleasant, service not bad… but the food is yuk! Besides not tasting good anymore, it now comes cold. If you send it back it takes twice as long as the first time, your partner has to wait, and it comes out just as cold and sad as ever. We are not going back after being long time patrons. Sorry Mile Marker. What happened?

I came here with a few friends for breakfast and sat outside. It was a beautiful view by the water overlooking the boats with good music. It was slightly crowded, yet the service was awesome and our server, Marisa, was terrific as well. The food was abundant and delicious for under 10 bucks. I’ll definitely come back here next time in in Gloucester.

May 162015 Four of us went there for breakfast, warm sunny morning so we sat outside overlooking the river. The server was very good the breakfast was very good I had the hash with eggs very good. They had a Bloody Mary bar where you added your own garnish to the drink, nice touch. I would give this a 3 ½ stars, great view, good food. It would have got four stars but restrooms located in odd place… The pool area. I would go back there again.

Came here on a busy Saturday night with a party of 5 and were seated promptly — we were told there would be a 45 minute wait, but by some stroke of magic, we were immediately whisked away to our table right on the edge of the deck. Service was a tad slow but understandable given how busy it was. Waitress was fun and personable, and was knowledgable about the drinks and food. Food was good, especially the shark bites: pan seared, spiced mahi mahi with a spicy aioli dipping sauce. After we ate, there was a reggae band playing at the tent bar next to the restaurant. Great tunes and good energy, lots of people dancing. Clientele was a little aged for my taste but it was fairly early on a Saturday. All-in-all a good experience, and will definitely come again.
