This place was awful :(. Ordered an iced mocha latte. Got a packet of carnation instant hot cocoa and cold water and milk. Totally overpriced! Two medium drinks were $ 11.00! No food was ordered. The lady who served us was on the phone the entire time. At least she smiled but seriously… Thankful that there was a much better place on the same strip(went there and got two medium coffees AND a pastry and it cost $ 7.75). Needless to say we threw the first coffees out.

I was craving dessert on my drive through Cape Ann and this place appeared like a God send. Get the Cappuccino cake. It is fantastic. I am assuming the lady serving me was the owner. Either way she was delightful.

I just popped in while I waited for a friend, so I had a decaf coffee and one of the home made biscotti. The coffee was very good!!! I had it black and could really taste the quality and the biscotti was delicious! I will certainly stop in here again during my next visit to the area. Also, the woman who was there was very polite, attentive, and helpful. She paid attention as to when I was finished and getting ready to leave, so she came over to ask me how everything was and cleared my table for me. :)

The rudest service and worst coffee. Go somewhere else. He was going to take away my items because at first i didn’t have cash. On top of that after a purchase he hushed me away when I wanted to use the bathroom.

Excellent cappuccino and latte. True old worlds expertise and atmosphere. Disregard the poor review from that one lady. She simply doesn’t know what she’s talking about. We’ve enjoyed cafes from New York to San Francisco to Paris to Portugal to Greece. Café Dolce can hold its own with any of them.

Overly priced! Things taste old. You even get the feeling you have to buy something to use the bathroom! Never go back…

I had a tiramisu gelato from this place a couple of weeks ago. It was very good! The lady that owns the place is very nice. I hadn’t seen her in a few years, since I don’t live in New England.

If you want to go to an authentic café’ up north, this is the place. Beautiful inside, wonderful ITALIAN espresso is served. I say Italian because a lot of café’s have turned Yuppie and serve gruesome Seattle/Starbucks type coffee. Great gelato and deserts as well. People are super nice here as well.

Went in Saturday afternoon to grab a cappuccino. The owner was there(I think she said her name was Pina) and she was SO sweet. Ordering my cappuccino turned into a 25 minute conversation about my family, her family, and making sure we make the most of the time we have with them. I was on my way to visit my Dad at the nursing home and she was missing her Mom in Sicily. It was just one of those great conversations that happens naturally and makes your day. Also, the cappuccino was amazing! I bought my Dad a peach filled croissant and will definitely be back in the next time I’m up in the area. Great experience.

My husband and I went there the day after we got married in Gloucester at Stage Fort Park. I am attracted to the café’s because I am Italian! The woman behind the counter was amazing, so friendly and kind and gave us sweet advice, which we took to heart. My husband took me back to Caffe Dolce on our anniversary because of our first experience there. The nice lady was not there but her daughter was working and she was sooo nice! I love this place, the people and their scrumptious treats! Thank you Caffe dolce for touching our hearts!

The sign in the window says«people love us on Unilocal». Really? Maybe they did; but I’m thinking maybe not so much now five years after the last review. To be fair, I suppose the latte was okay. It was well made, but lacking that something extra. Perhaps it would have tasted better had the woman taking my order looked and acted as though she were happy to be there and happy to have customers. My ‘good morning’ went ignored. My ‘thank you’ as she handed me the coffee went unacknowledged. As I was leaving, the other woman, perhaps a friend of the person who waited on me, said I looked like a fish out of water. That was suppose to make the ice-cold unwelcoming attitude of the person helping me, better? It didn’t make the latte taste any better. I could overlook that for a great cup of joe or a welcoming attitude — neither of which I found here. It’s a shame I get it that most of their customers must be local and they’re naturally aloof to outsiders, but if a business doesn’t want outsiders in its store, then perhaps take the Unilocal sign out of the store window. I think of a Unilocal review as a beacon to draw me in, or keep me away, when I’m traveling. Mission accomplished on the latter.

This place was recommended by the waitress at Valentino’s. My sister & I had gelato, which was excellent. Their gelato & desserts(except cannoli) are imported from Italy. The flavors change weekly and I cannot pronounce the flavor I had. They also have a small selection of liquor. There is a window that overlooks the waterfront, which was nice because I was there during Fiesta. Service was slow though and we were the only ones in there.

The best cappacino in the world. Made with style. Truly an Italian café. The sweets have something to be desired… but the coffees and mocha’s are out of this world.

The best cappacino in Glousta’. Try and go when the woman owner is there. She treats the cappacino creation as a fine art. And will tell you the secret to getting the optimal foam. The top ends up like a crème brulle. I only wish there were more top and less bottom. If you go on a Sunday morning, you don’t get the woman(mother) making your drink… but the son and it’s still pretty good. What you do get on Sunday morning is the hub bub of a bunch of Italian men talking in Italian and sharing a lot of info. It is like being in Italy. Pretty cool.

Great Italian caffe. Go there and sip your cappuccino, have a great piece of cake and relax. If you are up to it you can talk italian with the owner!
