Excellent local beer selection on tap. I’ve gone a couple times and have used the kids options for my daughter. The first time she got the butter noodles that were unfortunately served with minced parsley(toddlers don’t deal well with green, pepper, red stuff etc.). Today she got the Mac and cheese it was pretty good although there was cracked pepper mixed in it. Luckily she didn’t notice until about half way through. It was also a bit salty. The fries are awesome and they have a nice eclectic menus. I got the Kai burger today expecting fresh cut avocados on my burger, instead it was a spread. Me better half got the Asian chicken cabbage salad, the name slips me. It was served with chicken mixed in the salad and what seemed like wonton strips. There was something lacking in the salad. The lady next to us also got the same salad and she asked for salt to jazz hers up but I think it was missing something other than salt. Maybe a peanut sauce or carrots maybe even a little red cabbage. The lunch for the three of us including the awesome crispy shrimp similar to a bang bang shrimp cost us about $ 60. A little pricy but I would gladly pay that for artisanal meals than something from chef mic(rowave). We will be back! Thanks for awesome service and hospitality.

Ordered ribeye medium well? It came out tender but not much flavor. Over cooked steak more well done than medium. 1 hour to get entrée. Bread was served but the size of a dollar size coin. Not much flavor at all. The french fries were just OK. Service was sooooo slow. I left my steak and chalk this experience up to never again!!! I expect good portion size and at least the food should at least taste good. Very over priced. Maybe if I had some alcohol perhaps it may have been better??? If you are looking to spend money just to spend money this is the place for you! The atmosphere was excellent. People were dancing and having a good time to each his own. The waitress was offended about my opinion. She was making up excuses. This evening she said was the was the busiest for them. I am not trying to bash their business just honest opinion. The female felt I was threatening. The female called the 20 looking something owner and told my party to leave. To get out of his restaurant. We were being kicked out of his restaurant really. How terrible to treat a customer. WOW this should never happen to anyone. This was not for me or anyone to be treated that way. So what if the restaurant was not doing very well this evening. You don’t treat people that way ever. The«owner» should be more relaxed and simply apologized and left it at that. Having a hot headed personality never helps any situation. Having class and respecting someone’s opinion is what should have happened. The«owner» running the business needs to learn professionalism. PS. For those that read the owners rebuttal, we never asked for refund. We did not eat the food other than just enough to taste the food. 90+ percent of the remained untouched. We could not eat it. My wife was very upset by the young looking owner by the way he treated us. It’s obvious that the owner(s) do not speak very good English. The comment holding some hostage is ridiculous.

Went with friends who LOVE this place, now we LOVE this place and are taking friends this weekend. Potato chips with warm blue cheese dip! Mahi special with wasabi mashed potatoes! Cheesecake dumplings with 3 different sauces… WHAT! Isabelle opened a bottle of wine for us to try, loved it too! From great service to a great atmosphere! A+ all the way !

The staff is super friendly, and the atmosphere is comfortable. And the food? Well it’s amazing! The wild mushroom pasta and curry shrimp are the bomb! It may be a little pricy, but it’s well worth it.

We dined here the evening of Friday, February 7, 2014. The food and service were both excellent. We ordered the petit filet special, which was perfect. We also ordered the short ribs and mashed potatoes; the ribs were very good, but the potatoes were disappointing – our only criticism and the reason I rated this restaurant 4 stars instead of 5. Even the decaf coffee at meal’s end was excellent. I will definitely return, and I highly recommend.

First time here after visiting the other Gloucester restaurants in the past and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Wonderful drinks to start the night, refreshing and unusual, but a bit pricey. the main course was out of this world particularly the sautéed corn with bacon side. Mussels entrée was the best ever had. Prices very reasonable. The caramel topped chocolate brownie was good but not made in house. Everyone there was attentive and friendly. Definitely a must return place!

What a treat to have a restaurant this nice in Gloucester. The food is out of this world — ribs were the most original I’ve ever had. Good beers on tap, diverse wine offerings. We were there with a party of 5 and we all had superb meals — Salmon, Mushroom Pasta and Angel Hair Pasta all great. This is a classy place run like a top restaurant, if you want a nice meal with friends where you can enjoy, good company, great food and wine and not be rushed, this is it.(BTW If you want a high-chair and your meal served in 6 minutes, there’s an Applebees on 17 and it’s a great one). LuLuBird, thanks for landing in Gloucester. Stick around.

First visit to the restaurant and we had to wait 45 mins for our food. Once we received the food the portions were very small. This not a kid friendly restaurant. Price is very expensive for what you get. I won’t be returning.

We had a great meal at LuLu Birds tonight. The chips with blue cheese dip were delish… we even saved the blue cheese dip to save for dipping our potatoes from our entrees in! The grilled romaine salad was also very good. I was a little surprised that there were cashews on the salad, but they complimented the salad well. My husband had the short ribs which were also very good. I had the salmon with capers, roasted potatoes and a corn/bacon side. It was supposed to be paired with spinach instead of corn, but they ran out of spinach. I was a little disappointed, but the corn turned out very tasty! During the meal the chef came out and apologized for running out of spinach which was very much appreciated. The service took a little long, but the waitress was very friendly and anxious to please. Overall, a great addition to downtown Gloucester!

We sat right down at 5, with only one other table, though the restaurant filled up by the time we left. Given Maddie’s dairy allergy, we found the kitchen to be very accommodating, and they even cut her burger into pieces in the kitchen which was very nice, and so our two year old was happy with all of the offerings. The chef made sure she had dairy free fries, which were crisp and seasoned just right. We started off with two appetizers, which we devoured: house made potato chips which were served with a warm blue cheese dipping sauce and their spicy beef dumplings. The dumplings had a nice ginger flavor and an amped soy sauce, and although not piping hot, the parsley and sliced peppers used as a garnish added a welcome note of freshness which we would order again. I thought the blue cheese dip fared well with the chilean cabernet sauvignon we ordered, but more aptly with my beef entrée. Kathy ordered the chicken paillards, which were grilled with herbs and served with mozzarella, tomato, and a lightly dressed and salted arugula salad; neither too heavy nor particularly bold. Stealing the show, however, were the beer braised short ribs, three pieces adorning an ample tower of creamy mashed potatoes, with just enough richly flavored sauce to support each bite. The ribs, decidedly not overtly hoppy, were fork tender and sufficiently cut so as not to be fatty and without an ounce of waste. The thin slices of battered fried onion were neither greasy nor overdone nor over-supplied, as they often are carelessly added at other establishments, and added just the right onion flavor to give the mouth interesting options for each bite. Fresh whole flat leaf parsley, lightly dressed, added a punch of freshness on top, and could even be taken further with a bit of lemon. Definitely worth ordering again, though the menu was not light on other items I would like to try at future visits. Another point worth making is that the menu was not too busy, allowing room for seasonal changes and providing the kitchen, ideally, with the opportunity to focus on executing all of its dishes well. We also ordered two desserts, the chef-made special, consisting of four fried star-shaped wontons filled with cheesecake and served alongside a dot of crème anglaise and chocolate syrup. Just to push our luck and see how responsive the kitchen would be, we ordered a some vanilla ice cream off-menu to supplement the dessert; we ended up only receiving one of the desserts to share plus a bowl of vanilla ice cream with whip, but it was tasty nonetheless. We also ordered two coffees, which weren’t brewed as strong as we generally like, but were serviceable. An espresso machine or a stronger brew and a small container of half and half instead of the individual creamers would be a more fitting touch for the establishment. The hostess was pleasant, the waiter attentive and friendly, busses very attentive and kept our drinks full, and even had a front house manager check on us who was also quite friendly and willing to help out. The restaurant was clean, and overall made us giddy that we have another gourmet food offering in Gloucester worth going out for. With cautious optimism, let’s hope they sustain the effort and keep up the good work. We’ll do our part by coming back!

This is a fantastic spot in a sleepy little town. The atmosphere is chic and cozy and the staff and owners are incredible. Not to mention the food is incredible and the wine list is spot on. Try the tuna tartare it’s delicious, don’t believe me ask the dishes!
