Love everything from staff to atmosphere to food! I am never disappointed. Highly recommend.

Smokin’ Hot was fairly busy when we came last night. The atmosphere wasn’t bad in the dining room. They had a few cool portraits hanging around the place. I was cautiously optimistic. We ordered a small batch of hot wings for the table, I asked for an Asian Almond Salad, my wife got a BBQ variety platter, and the teenager got a bacon cheeseburger. The wings came, and the flavor wasn’t bad, but they were dry. It was clear that they were pre-cooked and then reheated. The sauces they brought by were weak(huh…weak sauce) — teen used the Alabama White on her burger and said it tasted like watery mayo, not a good comparison to the ever-reliable Mission BBQ. They had a «smokin’ hot» sauce that was just vinegar with some spices sitting at the bottom. My wife tried it and said it was foul. I smelled it, which was enough for me. Everything looked okay, as you can see from the photos. My understanding is that the burger wasn’t bad, but it was clearly pre-formed, not fresh. I did try the fries, and they were fine, which is something because it is definitely possible to mess up french fries in multiple ways, and these were done correctly. My wife wasn’t enthusiastic about what she got. She sent back her side of green beans because they had tomatoes in there, which is just about the strangest juxtaposition I can imagine without gagging. She gave me her cornbread after a bite, because unlike the fries, they did manage to screw that up somehow. Molasses, maybe? As for my salad… they relied way too much on the… I don’t know what to call them? Crackers, wontons, whatever they were, they were stale, and I could not get a mouthful of salad without at least two or three of the buggers slipping in there. After getting through maybe half of the salad, I’d decided I had enough, and I started shoving the excess starch to the side of the plate and made a nice –but not neat– little pile. We’ve been in the area for a couple of weeks and it seems like the universe is trying to keep us from dining out if we’re too lazy to make a trip of 15 minutes or more. Heck of a nice neighborhood, but the restaurants suffer from a lack of competition.

This is our go to local bar and foodie grille. We do not live in the neighborhood anymore but we make a conscious effort to frequent Smokin as often as we can. Great entertainment by local bands and musicians and occasionally staff and patrons, Smokin has a Burger that rocks, among other delishessness but I just had the burger and it was so good, I took a picture after I wolfed it down! It was exactly as I ordered. It was juicy, tasty, fresh, on a toasted roll, you did not need anything to accompany this but maybe a cold draft on tap! Look for yourselves! While I ate, I was able to enjoy the afternoon lunch crowd and Tony D behind the bar. The owners Brett and Marcy were in and that was my dessert! Did you know you can get this burger for 5.00 on Mondays? Me either but u can! Hey, Monday @ 2:00 works for me!

Food is ok at best, service can be terrible at times. I have entered the restaurant only to stand there for 10 minutes waiting for someone to notice me and seat me at a table. This has happened both on slow and busy nights.

I can only drink light beer and wine. The cider is pretty good. With live music, it’s a good place for a casual gathering. The French style mussels is really creamy.

Great atmosphere, great food, great service. Not really close to anything, so kind of hard to put it into the heavy rotation. Hope to be back soon though.

My company does carry out from here occasionally when we have meetings and we all get lunch. The first one or two times, this place was great. We’ve since gone twice in the last two weeks though, and it has sucked. So I’m thinking it’s hit or miss here. They really missed this last time though. They mixed up our four salad orders so that something was swapped or missing from each. They forgot to put sauce on my pulled pork sandwich, which, I’m not sure how you do that. Luckily, I had some BBQ sauce left over at work from when we went to Mission BBQ in Columbia– so I put that on. Even that sauce couldn’t save the soggy, gross sandwich. If you want consistent good BBQ thats close to Glenwood, go to Town Grille in Lisbon, otherwise, go to Mission BBQ in Columbia for the real deal.

We went here on a busy Saturday afternoon. We were looking for a lighter lunch. I could not choose which sides I wanted for anything, so ended up getting the side order platter of five sides. Loved all sides except the green beans, but that is just personal preference, because hubby loved them. The jalapeño raisin slaw is amazing with a kick! Hubby got the shepherd’s pie, must’ve been good because it disappeared in minutes! We will definitely be back to try the meat specialties so we can give all the sauces a try!

Food is average, nothing to write home about. It’s their large selection of homemade sauces that make this place something to come back to. Everything from a Bloody Mary bbq to thinner sauces like vinegar bbq to your standard thick sweet brown sugar baby bbq. The sauce is really what makes the food. That being said living locally it’s not in my top rotation of restaurants. The décor consists of lots of musical instruments hanging from the walls and ceiling in the bar area and just doesn’t seem to mesh in with the food which doesn’t seem to mesh with the atmosphere. Worth checking it out though if you’re in the area.

Iam never going there again. Everything is overpriced, I was served a dirty glass, and the wait staff was acted as if they couldn’t be bothered.

Great food. Had the surf and turf. Was amazing. Sweet potato fries and regular fries are awesome. We eat here often and are never disappointed. They renovated the place and it looks great. Service is good as well. Check it out!

It survives because there is really nothing else out here. If you must eat the food choose carry out. I’d drive to Bare Bones if dining in.

Just an update because I saw Brett’s comment. I probably should have flipped the order of my review because the food here is a star. I know they are working on the dining room configuration. Highly recommend. I’m such a big fan of the wings that I have to force myself to order other things. Everything I’ve tried has been great. But the wings with the Blackjack BBQ sauce are not to be missed.

5 stars for a couple reasons… First one, is that it’s the best place far and wide in this area. If you live close by, you’ve probably already been here. Second reason, is that the super low stars are undeserved. the décor works here. It is neighborhood-bar warm and friendly, not trying to get pompous or price out the locals. The owner is an awesome dude. Sincere, friendly and obviously committed to his place. He’s here all the time and is totally integrated with his staff. The menu is amazing because there is something for everyone and nearly everything is done with skill and care. The only thing I’d change is the crabcake sandwich. There should be a soft and buttery brioche bun snuggling that delicious crabcake. The flour one currently masks the awesomeness of it. The wings, softshell crab(in season) burgers and brisket are ridiculous. Their beer selection is ok, and the folks that come here are super friendly! I’ll be back as often as I can. Bravo!

We enjoyed Smokin’ Hot, although I think I would have enjoyed it more if I had ordered one of their signature dishes. We were there to hear a band play, so got a few appetizer-y dishes to share: Pretzel Bites were not anything spectacular, but just about the perfect accompaniment to beer and live music. We had them with house honey-mustard sauce. Frito Pie(a.k.a. Fritos topped with chili and cheese) is a bad idea no matter what kind of diet you’re on, but oh my, it was delicious. We ate it all with no regrets. Their wings were smoked rather than fried, so tender and pleasantly charred on the outside. I loved the variety of barbecue sauces, all homemade. After all that, I ordered a salad, which was a mistake. Why did I think a barbeque place would make a good Asian salad? Iceberg lettuce, tired shreds of carrot and onion, and a goopy, sweet-ish vinaigrette. I should have stuck to junk food! Still, we had fun, and I give them points for bringing in a decent southern-rock band rather than playing hillbilly classics in the background.

Different location inside a strip mall, and yes the décor is pretty outdated. We had a recommendation from a friend for this BBQ place and live music. We got there and it was sort of awkward with no hostess and eventually someone came to seat us… we sat at a high table. It took about seven minutes for our waiter to come over. It was getting quite busy though. I got a sweet tea which was very good and my husband got their beer and he said it was good. We ordered around 7pm and our food did not come out until 7:40. For a bbq place where most things are already prepared I thought it was a long wait. It was crowded but not THAT crowded. Our waiter also didn’t come over at all to refill drinks, tell us how long it would be, etc during the whole 40 minutes. I got the pulled pork platter and it was excellent. I got to choose between 12 homemade sauces to use on it also. Their fries were amazing and Cole slaw good as well. I had a very hard time just choosing 2 sides… They all looked good. Husband got sampler and I tried the chicken, pit beef, and ribs and it was all good also. He didn’t like the mashed potatoes though… hard and old. We asked for the check and boxes as soon as food came out… and still had to wait 15 minutes after we were done for him to bring it. Eventually we left cash and had to ask bartender for boxes. We will be back but hope for better service. Black hog is still better by far but further for us from Westminster and Carter Que in Mt. AIRY Is about the same level of food and service as Smokin hot and same distance. It’s nice to have a few places to go though.

We love this BBQ restaurant! Atmosphere is a little old school… but does that really matter when the prices are actually reasonable for A LOT of meat?! Not to mention your choice of 12 different sauces… yes 12! I’ve had the beef, pork, and chicken and all have been juicy and tender. We love the smoked wings – super flavorful! My favorite side is the applesauce – don’t be thrown by the pink color… they use red hots for the cinnamon spice! YUM!

It’s a quaint little place in a strip mall. There is a separate bar and restaurant area. The service is very friendly. On the plus side is that they offer a variety of home made sauces and their own brand of draft beer. They also have entertainment some evenings. However, the meat(pulled pork) was dry and the coleslaw lacked dressing. On the other hand the wings were juicy and cooked perfectly but, the Old Bay seasoning was a bit too salty. I was not impressed with their BBQ
