There’s this little Korean restaurant that borders Glenview and Niles, Illinois. It lives in a strip mall where there’s a Walgreens and a bunch of smaller shops. Its name is GoBaWoo. If you go here, you should definitely try the bulgogi, skip the calbi(it’s a little tough), order a bowl of spicy tofu soup and also get some grilled trout if fish is what you’re into. The spicy cold noodles aren’t that bad, but they’re just a little hard to chew. They’ve also got a bunch of great side dishes … and I am all about the side dishes. Some picked radish, some potato, some kimchi … MMM!!! GoBaWoo is always a super refreshing option after a week of sandwiches and cold cereal.

Very authentic Korean food, in a semi-Korean neighborhood. Took the family here for lunch. My three year old wouldn’t eat the steamed rice because it was slightly blue but it tasted fine. They made us up some«kid fried rice» with egg, beef, and peas and stuff but he would not eat that either. Little monster! =] Even though the décor was kind of lacking(kind of old/grungy, missing lightbulbs, crap stacked in corners) the food kind of made up for it. I like to collect paper menus for my «menu drawer» at home, but this place didn’t have any for whatever reason. Seemed like they cut a lot of corners to save some money. My wife got the«short rib with tofu» lunch special but there wasn’t really much meat there. I got the«spicy pork bul go gi with tofu» lunch special, which was decent. The«tofu» turned out to be a seafood soup with slimy chunks of broken up tofu, thin sliced vegetables like chiles and green onion, little bits of octopus, small clams, and some other hot stuff. It was awesome! =] Also the banchan was a bit above average, pretty good overall food except for the portion sizes on the meat that you would expect with an American meal. Glad I tried it… I might go back if I was really hungry.
