Had dinner at The Parlour last night(21 December 2011) and must rave about it. We asked the owner to «pamper us» and boy did she. We never even cracked the menu and had the most amazing food, wine, and service imaginable. She paired wines with each course of the meal, her chef created taste sensations, and the atmosphere was terrific. No complaints here; I HIGHLY recommend letting Cathleen and her staff design a meal around your interests too. A+ from Chad and Jessica. The mac-n-cheese was good, but the top sirloin was unbelievable. We chose to spend a few extra bucks and go the«prix fixe» way during our vacation, settled in for about 90 minutes overall, and were served timely selections that knocked our socks off. We arrived around 6:00p on Friday to find only a few tables occupied; within 30 minutes the place was bustling with activity; I believe most tables were reserved. After reviewing other Unilocalers’ posts, I have to comment: It’s easy to pay for good wine and food, and The Parlour is hardly a «sports bar» people; this is an upscale restaurant which exudes class and style. The portions were more than satisfactory, so perhaps all of these posts are making a differenct. I will continue to recommend The Parlour and can’t wait for another visit…

I have a love-hate relationship with this place. I really like going out with my wife here, enjoying some good food and wine, hanging out, catching up, and all that. We also love meeting friends here and just relaxing and making an evening of it. The food and the wine has always been very good, the service is sometimes sketchy, but we know what to expect… …including receiving a huge bill at the end of the night, and the feeling of wanting to drive thru In N Out after because the three bits of cheese and half a date, or tiny«slider», or cup of soup or scoop of mac and cheese has teased you and you are still hungry! Come on Parlour! I know I don’t need to leave stuffed, and I know quality — which I admit is what you generally get there — has a price tag, but if I order a cheese flight for $ 14, throw some cheese on there, would ya? I’m sticking with 2 stars. It’s a little harsh given that I actually like the place –or maybe want to like the place. But there really is no good reason why the menu needs such a high price tag for so little food…

This is a bit of a mixed bag for me. On the one hand, the food and the service here are great. We particularly enjoy the dragon sliders(which, as of our last visit, were not listed on the menu). The variety of wines offered is extensive, and I appreciate the fact that they offer Republic of Tea as an option. The staff is friendly and very attentive. The down side to The Parlour is the pricing. We understand that wine bars offer a certain style of food. But it is not very appealing to go into an establishment armed with a $ 40 Groupon and STILL spend an additional $ 45 — and there were only two of us, folks. And we don’t eat a great deal. During one experience, we arrived during Happy Hour, when there is supposed to be a discount on prices and still found our beloved dragon sliders to be $ 5 a piece. Not much of a price break, I think. Nice experience, but not one I will likely be repeating soon. Unless I win the lottery…

If you are coming here for the first time the restaurant is hard to find. We ordered the Prix Fixe menu 5 course dinner with a pairing of wine @ $ 65 per person. Ahi Stack Tuna Arancini Stiltion Dates Pan Seared Grouper Sticky Toffee Pudding We also tried their special of the day which were fish tacos. Also very delicious. Staff was friendly and attentive. Our server explained what each course was and details about each wine. Great presentation of food. Ambiance is casual to trendy. Wine bottles are everywhere. Feels like I’ve traveled to Napa Valley. Great place.

I went there because I bought the $ 25 get you $ 40 Groupon a couple of months ago and it was going to expire soon. So we went. I went there with a friend on a Tuesday early evening to try it out. Either we came too early or it was a Tuesday night, there was no one here. Odd to me since it was happy hour. $ 5 on select wines and beers. And $ 5 on sliders and other small dishes. But we got the $ 5 dollar stuff: — Mac & Cheese slider(Very interesting) — Pull Pork slider(Really good) — Salmon Patty(I would have skipped the one) — Shoe string fries(The dip was a little bland. More spice to it would have been nice.) — Ed’s Wontons(To die for and a must have! We got a second order.) — And of course I got a red wine(pinot nior) and my firend got the white(sauvignon blanc) The only non happy hour item was the chesse flight. I could have skipped that one. I like the ambiance of the place. It cute and looks exactly like the name, a parlour. So if you want to have a quite night with friends and grab a few drinks and snacks, it’s a good place to go. But don’t expect to go for dinner, eat before you go.

Saw their ad on Groupon, so we decided to give it a try. The appetizer, Arancini and Pear and Stilton salad were average. However, the two dinner special were disappointing. Sea bass on pasta was too salty and the bass did not taste fresh. The Surf and Turf was a mass; the sauce was salty, a pool of blood surrounded the mashed potato, and the prawns did not taste fresh as well. We don’t drink alcohols so cannot commend on the wines. Nonetheless, we dine often in various restaurants in Napa Wine Country, and this place certainly did not meet the expectation of foodies. The chef was very nice though; he treated us to a free peach cobbler dessert and did not charge us for the Sea Bass.

since there isn’t much wine places in the area, i been waiting to try this place out. Got here pretty late on a saturday night with a gf. Small cute place, we started with the self picked flights of wine. She got all white while i got all red. Petite Syrah was delicious. I love red wine. As for food, we got the prawns and sliders. The meat in the slider had a unique asian taste to it, which was surprising but very good. Chef was nice enough to give us free dessert, really liked it. Def coming back here for some wine… Not sure if they have tv in there? i hope they do so I can go back and watch some bball.

The hub & I went here a few months ago and have been looking forward to a return visit. We had great food(sliders, cheese plate) and a lovely wine flight. We sat at the bar and had good service even though the place was packed. The owner stopped by to check on us a few times. This place has the ambiance of a city wine bar you might find in NYC even though it’s in Glendora; it’s a great addition to this sleepy little town.

Went back to Parlour Wine Bar & Bistro and tried some different items. This experience was absolutely delightful! Again, this review will be short, since a detailed one will come later, but do yourself a favor and order the Red Dragon sliders made up of fried mac and cheese. It was so good that you will be addicted after the first bite!!! Vermont Cheddar, Peppercorn Gouda, and Brie made up the cheese flight on this visit. The subtle spiciness of the pepper blended perfectly with the gouda, making this my favorite. Also, it went perfectly with my wine flight. The Pear & Stilton salad made up of spinach, red pears, stilton, candied pecans was so refreshing that I ate every last bite. Mmm, I love salad. Ordered the Beignets, cheesecake, and M. Chapoutier Banyuls for dessert. OMG, I can’t emphasize enough how incredible the desserts are at Parlour! The food is top notch at Parlour, but I need to emphasize that the service on its own also deserves five stars. Everyone, and I do mean everyone there is super friendly and sweet!!!

Something about this place is too girly for me. And I’m a girl! Maybe it’s the couch and pillows, which give me the feeling that I’m in somebody’s living room. Maybe it’s the dinky portions. Maybe it’s the fluttery way the waitstaff ask me, way too often, how everything is. On the plus side, it’s comfy and welcoming. On the minus side, it’s not quite professional. The food is tasty, but overpriced(remember those dinky portions?). It’s trying to be a trendy west side wine bar, but it falls way short. For example, the cheese choices included brie, stilton, and manchego — no producer or region specified. These are all cheeses I could get at the supermarket. Go if it’s happy hour, if you have a Groupon, or if you just can’t stand driving to Pasadena, much less to the west side. Otherwise, pass.

The food is very good, as is the wine. We went for happy hour and had salmon sliders, onion rings, Ed’s won tons, and baked potato soup. The service is also very good and the people friendly. What keeps it from getting that fifth star is that the portions are not real generous. The sliders(2), onion rings(5), won tons(3) at happy hour prices were $ 20. Add soup, happy hour wine, and tip, our bill ended up over $ 50. A bit more than I had bargained for. On the plus side, they were very generous with the wine pours. You really need to know where it is when you get there, there’s not a lot of signage and it is located at the back of an office building, down at the end of the hallway. Lot’s of promise, hope they can hang in there and build a little more value into the pricing.

We don’t usually get dressed up to go out on the town much, but the«Pacific Highway 101» wine event sounded like alot of fun. We invited our close friends and made reservations weeks ago for the wine tasting and food pairing scheduled for tonight: Sunday March 27th at 6:00PM. We, and several others, showed up at 6PM and the place was locked up tighter than a drum… not an employee to be found anywhere, no answer or phone recording to their number and no notice posted to indicate why the place was closed. If the cancellation of the event was a concious decision, they would have called the people who made reservations, especially since they specifically requested our phone number when we called. It was kind of embarrassing. I think our guests thought we were crazy until I showed them that the event is still posted on The Parlour’s website: Our big night out with close friends turned out to be a non-event at The Parlour Wine Bar and Bistro. I called Glendora Police to see if they had a phone number for the business owner to make sure no foul play was involved but they had no emergency number on file. I want to assume that the Parlour’s NOSHOW was for circumstances that could not have been avoided because if it was a business/financial decision because they thought attendance might be light, I will never be back. I will update this review with the reason when I learn it.

First: this place has a really nice relaxing groovy atmosphere. Second: If. you are a civil humanbeing that enjoys the experiencing amazing wines & beers(Yes beer) and small well prepared food portions of amazingness. If you are the glutton type that needs to eat massive amounts of junk & filler and really enjoy fried greasiness(well errr… I enjoy that as well lol) Well, the parlour probably wouldn’t be your cup of soda. But i’m sure you’re intelligent enough to know this isn’t that kind of place. I’ve had nothing but enjoyable times here. The Food & Cheese is always awesome. The staff has always been on their game, friendly & accommodating. I must honestly say this place is a WIN.

meh. I am on the fence with this place. It’s cute in a little area of Glendora. Came here to teach a class at a salon nearby and after we came here for a bite. Well. service is good and the food is tasty I was a little unimpressed with the fact that the wine I choose that they ran out of was substituted and given to me. They didn’t let me know that they ran out of the wine I had originally ordered and though it was good I was not a fan of not being given the option to look for something else. Instead they replaced it with something that was also $ 3 more. Not a big deal but I think they should give options. The food was pretty good. I did steal a bite of my friends panini and those steak fries are delish. They do skimp out on the servicing of fries however. I had a pear salad which was light and filling.

I’m still a fan and I had been dying to come back here since… well, 2009(really, it’s been that long??? How did I let that happen?). Anyway, when my good friend had a 35th birthday, I found it the perfect excuse to be hide my selfish intentions behind the pretenses of treating her to a really nice lunch. Although there has been a change in chefs, I still found the food delicious. I sampled some of my friends comfort-food-style mac & cheese, enjoyed my cheese flight and shared the caramel bread pudding. My other girlfriends had the bacon panini which smelled incredible. I can understand why the previous poster complained about smelling like meat, but personally, I don’t find that a drawback. :) Although I still take a star off b/c it is a little pricey and the wait is very«leisurely», lunch is at a manageable price point and reasonable for a very nice lunch(it’s about what I would pay at a lovely museum café and I don’t have to be pretend to be interested in art – that’s kind of a discount in and of itself). Cathleen, the owner, was very gracious and even split our check for our entire group(I don’t know if I should brag about her being so accommodating – she may hate me when everyone else starts asking for their check to be split a million different ways). She answered all my ridiculous questions patiently, even when the information I asked was right in front of my face on the menu. The atmosphere really is lovely and one of my favorites to dine in around the Glendora vicinity. I’m planning on gradually working my way through their fabulous dessert menu, one at a time. Hopefully my next visit will much less than 2 years away.

Found this restaurant through the LA Restaurant Week website. From the other reviews on Unilocal,I thought I’d give it a try! I gave this restaurant four stars because the food was excellent, but I’m not sure I’d go back simply for the prices. My party of two ordered two salads, three small bites, dessert and their wine flight($ 13) and our check total was $ 118 with tip. The food was excellent, don’t get me wrong, but I’m not sure I’d want to drop $ 100+ again. Some people on Unilocal complained about the portion sizes being too small. I personally love restaurants with small portion sizes because I’m not the type of person who enjoys the«All you can eat» thing. The portion sizes at The Parlour are small — they are small bites! As long as you know what you’re getting into, then the small portions are not surprising. Service was great when we started our meal and slowly started disappearing by the end. We ended up spending a lot of time sitting around waiting for him to come back. He was extremely friendly though and it gave us some time to just chat. All-in-all, it was a good restaurant that I would bring a friend to who is visiting town, but I’m not sure I’ll drive all the way back to Glendora. Oh, and it seems like the menu is seasonal because the top of the food page said, «January 2011.» They MIGHT entice me to go back if the menu changes with the season.

This place is amazing, consistent and delicious! For everyone complaining about the portion sizes, you’re here for the wrong experience. You obviously don’t ‘get it’!! It’s a wine bar you aren’t supposed to be served oversized plates and sloppy food! Everything is MEANT to be delicately delicious, and enjoyed with a wine or a brewsky. You shouldn’t have to be rolled out of this place from fullness when you’re done. It’s PERFECT! to those who understand the concept and appreciate fine wine and food — The Parlour Wine Bar & Bistro is the SPOT to be! These bad reviewers below me must be delusional! or simply stumbling into the wrong restaurant! LOL possibly the BBQ joint? Smelling meat and whatever else, hahaha… If you go out for this ‘experience’ in the village of Glendora, you will not be disappointed! Me and my Fiancé crave it every week! and we’ve been good at satisfying that craving! It’s my #1 place to dine in Glendora. I must say the mac n cheese is simply divine! ;) among everything else. I haven’t had anything I didn’t like. everything has been superior quality, staff, food and drinks! Thank you Cathleen!

We’d been curious for a while and finally made it in last week. It’s small and pleasant inside. There was a young fellow strumming a pleasing guitar. An affable hostess greeted us and spent a few minutes figuring out how to get us seated. The menu had many tasty-looking options. She went for soup; I had fried risotto dish with marinara; it was good, a bit rich. The soup was a flavorful beef barley. The wine selection was easy and the flights looked good, DIY flights are also cool. Though I realize it’s not their focus, they lose a star for a lackluster beer list that also turns its nose up at the United States entirely, if I recall correctly. We have a lot of finely crafted beer being brewed all over the country; there’s no call for that.

I happened to stumble upon this place after a late lunch at Frisella’s Roastery. It was hidden so I probably wouldn’t have seen it driving on the street. As soon as I walked in, I was surprised at how nice it was inside. A bit small but it had a simple yet elegant setting. It was practically empty so seating wasn’t a problem. The waiter was awesome(I wish I remembered his name!). He was extremely polite and informative especially about the wine selection. Here’s what I tried: –Martin & weyrich moscato allegro: sweet and light. i’m a fan. –Conundrum white blend california: not as sweet as the moscato. fruity with a bit of a dry aftertaste. apparently, it was a mix of white and dessert so if you’re looking for something in between, this is for you. –Scaldis belgian ale: i love belgian beer so that’s all you need to know, ha. –Lindeman’s lambic framboise: my fave. the perfect amount of fruitiness and flavor. So I looked over the menu and their food selection sounded really good so I have more of a reason to go back next time. Overall, I really enjoyed their wine/beer selection! Yay for good buzzes!
