This deli serves German and Polish sandwiches. The lady working was very pleasant. I ordered a veggie sandwich($ 6.99) and it was very good.

Came in here a couple weeks back to see what they carried. The only other European store in the area was a German deli in Rancho Cucamonga so I wanted to see if there was something comperable closer. The store and selection are extremely small. When I first walked in there was no one working so I looked around for about 5 minutes before a worker came out of the back room. She asked if there was anything I wanted to get(there really wasn’t since I was just looking) but I went ahead and got one of their chocolates and she SCOFFED at me rudely insinuating«is that it??». Given the fact that there’s hardly anything worth buying and the absent-turned-insulting customer service, I’d highly recommend going elsewhere.

A hidden gem of the town this place has to be the best sandwich shop in the city and the neighboring city. It’s a mix of Sweden, Poland, and I think a little bit of Germany in there too. The owners are two of the nicest ladies and they let you try if you just ask. For someone who does not have any knowledge of the region above, you’re going to have quite a long look at the lists of meats they have, but don’t be reserved and just ask for ham or roast beef. I tried the liverwurst and it was just so good. I don’t even bother and let them make it the way it was suppose to be made with all of the condiments they think is right in there. I honestly didn’t know anything about the foods in this region so all I can say is they’re good and I would really like to try them all. In addition to the sandwiches, the shop also sells Polish, Swedish, and such snacks and ingredients there if you wish to get them. The shop has a small parking area but rarely gets full. Try a taste here and you’d definitely go back again. Happy New Year and toast for my first review of 2015!

UPDATE: They really need to lose Kasia’s brand kluski. I just cooked the nasty frozen block of klusiki, per directions, and they totally disintegrated. Clearly the wrong proportions of flour, starch & egg. They should never disintegrate, even if they float in the water a little. Gramma’s never did, they were perfectly delightful & gooey. ORIGINALREVIEW: I will only rate based on what I bought. I stocked up on my fav’s and had an $ 80 purchase. I’m raised in the US but born in Poland. We exclusively at Polish style growing up cooked by my traditional Polish grandmother … of if I could have one more day with her in the kitchen! She would make EVERYTHING! Her Pierogi from scratch are unbeatable. I lived for her Silesian Dumplings & chicken gravy. Assorted sausages were always in the fridge. They have well stocked shelves of just about anything a good Pole would probably want. They were heating up some cabbage for a customer when I was there & it smelled fantastic. I make a lot of my own dishes so I wouldn’t buy Bigos, Cabbage or stuffed cabbage rolls(Golabki) anywhere which I believe you can get at European Deli. I’ve never made pierogi, way too labor intensive & always bought«Alexandras» brand at another Deli. My Church also serve’s Alexandras brand at our annual festival when the, ahem, ladies of a certain age stopped making home made for the festival. First, the Deli is pretty good. They have a good selection of traditional Polish/German deli meats, sausages, & wurst just like gramma had at home. I bought the liverwurst(perfect) and Village Sausage(traditional sausage known as ‘Polish sausage’ here in the US). As any sausage, it tends to be fatty, so we don’t keep it around. It was great grilled with peppers & onions. Leftovers were perfect in scrambled eggs. You Polaks know what I mean. It’s the Kasia’s brand Kluski & Pierogi that killed it for me. I rank them at 2-stars, tops, here. I was looking for a local source, but I think I’ll still have to schlep to get the Alexandra’s at another Polish deli. European Deli sells«Kasias» for about $ 8.95 or $ 7.95(I forget) per 14 oz. package. The Pierogi only had 10 in the packet, they were moderately stuffed. They were OK at best. Alexandra’s has a full pound/16oz, 12 very stuffed pierogi for $ 7.95. The Kasia’s Kluski that they sold were small(that’s OK) but inconsistent. European Deli may have a storage/freezer issue. Though they were all in a freezer, the first package looked ok, but the second package I opened, the Kluski were all frozen in a clump and had ‘cracks’ in the dough. Just overall not-impressive when Alexandra’s version are, again a full pound, and always consistent texture. Finally they misled, well, lets be honest, lied to me when they said the Deli in Santa Monica is closed. I mentioned to my mother who was there the week prior. We called to double check & sure enough, they’re open. Never lie to a customer. Maybe in the old-world under the commies, but not here & not in the world of the interwebz. Major lost points. I’d give them a 1-star on that alone. . I will go back for my deli sausages as they were OK& not worth the schlep elsewhere. I will continue my $ 100 pierogi/kluski habit elsewhere… Between the deli, the frozen goods & the mis-information, I’ll round it off to a 3-star.

I stumbled in here on a recommendation and I will definitely come back. I was just looking at their selection, which was great. They have a nice variety of European goods. I’m looking forward to trying the gooseberry jam! They also have a nice variety of meats and I hear they have great sandwiches. It’s a small complex and it’s easy to miss, but there is usually plenty of parking.

A little Eastern European market and deli. It definitely has the feel of being across the sea. The aisles are narrow to make room for the a large community table in the center. You can eat your meal there, or sit and chat and catch up on the latest news with another regular customer or the owners. It’s interesting to peruse the selection of imported noodles, beans, sauces, curry ketchups, and even a large selection of imported chocolates, cookies, and sweets. The deli boasts a large selection of meats, sausages, and cheeses. They will put together a sandwich for you and its on a really nice, chewy, sturdy, crusty roll. I hate soft, mushy bread. They have pastries and cookies also. I like this rolled up pastry with a crumbly center. So good. I don’t really know what is called, but you can see the picture to know which pastry. Probably two servings but I have to eat the whole thing. I hate the hours, though. By the time I get home from work, they are closed. Sometimes I get Mondays off, and they are closed on Mondays. I just wish it wasn’t iceberg in the sandwich and a nicer green leaf lettuce or romaine, but this is a solid little place. Support a small, local, non-chain business.
