I went to them for help for Domestic Violence. They sent me to court against my abuser completely alone and with no understanding with what was about to happen. Following their legal advice ultimately enabled the abuser to control and abuse under the courts nose and through his attorney. They also gave me a two-hour notice to vacate the emergency shelter because they deemed my situation«Not an emergency» any longer. I am currently homeless and about to lose my child to an abuser because of their advice aiding the abuser I was running from.

This organization is primarily focused on providing shelter and support to battered women and children, and support to female veterans. Their building is ancient. They function on donations of goods and money. Keep that in mind. They are a safe haven for vulnerable women and children. Don’t expect a shiny new facility unless you can donate one to them. They do much needed and crucial work.

I just moved to Glendale, 2 blocks away from YWCA. I thought it would be nice to swim with my elderly mother for a little excercise. When I walked in to inquire about their facilities, I was greeted with rudeness, lack of knowledge and complete cynicism. I don’t understand how an organization such as the YWCA, which promotes respect for women, would have disrespectful poor excuses for humans, also women, be such a disgraceful representation. I will tell everyone of this complete irony and will not support this organization.

This review for the YWCA of Glendale is specific to their swim instruction program for beginner children. Do not waste your time or your money enrolling your child in this program. The untrained instructors do not have a clue on what it takes to teach kids to swim, how to motivate kids, and the supervision of the instructors is non existent.
