Let me preface this review by saying I gave another Tokyo Joe’s location one star due to poor service. After that, Larry, the founder of Tokyo Joe’s reached out to me, apologized, sent me some free meal cards, and said he was on it. I was impressed, so I increased the stars on that review but haven’t been back to that location. Fast forward 6 months, I finally decide to give them a chance again with the free meal cards. Forget that, I’m done with them for a while. The girl working the counter at this location was so rude. Hardly looked up when I walked in, and continued about her business. I wasn’t sure if she was going to call me forward to place my order or what? So finally after standing there awkwardly long enough, I just stepped forward. Then it still took her several seconds to prompt me for my order. After ordering one thing she asked if I was eating there or to go, and what my name was, and then told me my total without asking what else I wanted. So I interrupted and told her there’s more, to which I received a begrudging«k.» Finally after completing the order I handed her the card expecting her to suddenly get nice because it was clearly from Larry, but she just looked more annoyed and said«we’ll call you when it’s ready.» It looks like some other people have had issues with this girl and another one(both of whom were working there) based on other reviews I’m reading. I’m sorry Larry. I used to love your restaurants, and I tried to give you guys another shot, but this is just annoying as heck. I don’t even have that high of standards for service, but even a freakin’ smile would help.

Overall food is great and love coming here. Only thing that they should work on is not having the music being so loud. Guy at counter messed up my order because he couldn’t hear exactly what I ordered. I still enjoyed it.

I gotta say, I really like this Tokyo Joe’s location. Even though I never see very many people dining when I pop in for my to-go order, it has tons of seating inside — booths, tables, sushi bar, and counters — and quite a lovely patio outside. Actually there are two patios, a larger one with a nice fire pit in back and a small one with just a couple of tables on the parking lot side. You’ll get the same healthy-leaning food and helpful, friendly service here as you’d expect from any Joe’s location. In case you didn’t know, Tokyo Joe’s offers rewards and the system has recently been re-vamped. The old-fashioned punch cards have been replaced with plastic cards and instead of getting a free entrée after the purchase of 15, you earn one point for every dollar you spend. You can get other little rewards along the way as well. Last week I got a free iced tea, just ’cause, I guess. And you get a free entrée on your half-birthday, which I think is pretty cool because sometimes it’s just too hard to use up all of your birthday rewards from your various rewards programs all in the same month. The thing I don’t like about the new system is that your free meal reward will expire if you don’t use it, but at least you’ll get an email reminder before the deadline looms.

I am so happy to update this review. After a very very unpleasant last experience, tokyos has stolen my heart again. The service was overly friendly and fast regardless of all of the other customers. My meal itself was the best I have had yet out of the 8478274 times I have been there. I am glad to say I will be leaving my previous experience in the past and continue to be a TJ addict!

I’m always a fan of Tokyo Joe’s. This location’s parking lot layout is a little tricky. Seemingly smaller spaces or narrow passage area? I dunno. Other than that– the food, service and décor are all what you’d expect from Tokyo Joe’s. Food= always fresh and tasty with many Asian inspired options. Service= always fast, friendly and ready to accommodate special orders without an attitude. Décor= open, modern, clean and stylish.

This place is kind of annoying. They forgot my daughter milk, veggies, and fruit that I paid for. Idk why they assumed she didn’t want it. Or how they could forget her whole order… regardless of how my food was I will not come back.

This place has been super hit or miss lately in the service department. There have been too many times recently where there has been an error in our order(things left out, regular noodles instead of rice noodles, incorrect sauce, etc.). It’s still fine as far as TJ’s food goes, but it’s frustrating to get a to go order and get home to find something missing or not made as ordered.

Most of the locations do a very nice job overall serving freshly made meals to the chain’s standard specifications. I’d give 5 stars if they modified their meals to include a more substantial serving of fresh vegetables. They say each meal has 5 ounces of fresh/frozen-cooked vegetables, but I’ve had 3 baby spinach leaves and 4 bean sprouts(yes, exactly 4) o my most recent shrimp meal. This is a recurring theme, along with the less varied vegetable mixes than the menu promises. They apparently run out of the really nice fresh veggies and switch to whatever else remains on hand. I see no reason to pay extra for a second serving of veggies when a more substantial single serving should be available. TJ’s, please check out the newer national dietary recommendations and modify your offerings accordingly, with less carb and more fresh veggies. Thanks.

This was our first Tokyo Joe’s experience and based on our service we won’t be back. Rude rude rude girl working the counter with stretched ears/tattoos. We didn’t know what we wanted right off so she rolled her eyes, sighed and went back to sweeping. No one was behind us and it was 8 plus hours away from closing time so I don’t understand the rush. We order and she angrily pushed everything on the screen, refused to make eye contact. Food finally arrives and I have no veggies, I point it out and she says«Well it says no veggies, what do you want?» Uh, veggies? If you have a veggie combo that has the word no in the name, maybe clarifying when taking orders? She went back to the kitchen for the missing veggies and I hear«oh my god, really? What do you want?!» exclaimed loudly. So so so unprofessional.

Generally speaking I really like Tokyo Joes. I think the food is good. It’s a bit pricey, but I still come regularly. The problem I have is with this Tokyo Joes, and the rude people who work here. About 50% of the people are amazing and the other 50% are so rude that it’s hard to believe they still work here. I just paid $ 15 for lunch and I have a 20 year old girl with huge ear gauges at the counter treating me like I’m not good enough to eat here. No smile. No thank you. I don’t know if she doesn’t like me for some reason or if that’s how she treats everyone, but it makes me NOT want to come back. But I probably will, because the food is good. Seriously, is it that hard to be nice to people?

This location is nice! Plenty of seating and a patio area. The build your own bowl has a lot of different options and it’s all pretty tasty. This place also offers New Belgium beer along with Coors and Lucky Buddha(not my favorite but cute bottle). The beer was only a penny yesterday! Whaaat! They did a special for Tax Day which makes me wonder what other specials I’ve been missing out on. This didn’t seem to be advertised very well. It felt like a secret when I asked the cashier about it. Overall this is a great spot for a quick, filling lunch that’s not too unhealthy or expensive.

I went to Tokyo Joes, along with 6 other people for lunch. It was five of the group’s first visit to a Tokyo Joes restaurant. It was kind of a late lunch and the restaurant wasn’t that busy — in fact, during much of the time of the experience I am about to tell, there wasn’t anyone in the order line. After we placed our order and sat down, we observed one of their associates walking around the restaurant with an appetizer trying to find its“owner”. The associate literally walked the restaurant two or three times trying to give it away. He would walk back to the register to check something, confer with another associate and walk the restaurant again. In the mean time, 5 of our group received their lunches — 2 didn’t. After some waiting, we stopped an associate(remember the appetizer guy moving his way around the restaurant) and asked about our 2 missing lunches. He went off to check on them. They weren’t found so he came back and asked what was ordered(again). Back for a search of the kitchen and POS system. No luck, as he came back with an order pad and took the orders for about the 5th time now. Took everything down again and went back to place the order. By now, everyone else had completed their meals and we were sitting around waiting for the 2 missing meals. I forgot to mention that I also ordered an appetizer that never made it to our table — I know what your thinking, because I did too. Nope, the one that«wandered» around the restaurant wasn’t mine(I asked during one of the many loops it made around the restaurant). 2 of the other orders weren’t exactly what they ordered either, but they felt somewhat fortunate at that point and didn’t want to add to the confusion. Whew! What an experience! As we drove off, a person we were riding with stated that she has never received a meal that was exactly as she had ordered… Entertaining to say the least(but we just went in for a lunch — not entertainment). I won’t go back.

So I teetered between 3 and 4 stars for this joint, but I had to go with my personal Unilocal philosophy and rate primarily based on the taste of the meal, and I’d say it’s probably a little over 3 stars. That being said, I love to eat here because the food is extremely healthy so I really love eating here when I’m watching my calorie intake. They have so many different tasty options at an affordable price. The kids also love their sushi rolls and teriyaki chicken. The best part is that if your on a diet Tokyo joes has so much variety that you can eat healthy and feel like you have a different meal every time you come. I definitely recommend Tokyo joes for people who are trying to watch what you eat. I’ve also eaten at healthy places that are way more expensive that have lower quality food.

Huge fan of Tokyo Joe’s and it has been awhile since I have been. I don’t fast food so this is a perfect option. My lunch meeting cancelled, so I grabbed lunch today. It is unfortunate when you are waited on by someone that ruins your experience. Come on girl… you are working in a fun place where you can wear what you want(and trust me your certainly do wear what you want it seems) and you have to be so rude. This young woman had NO eye contact, was annoyed by questions asked and simply rude. A great reason not to return. If you don’t care for your job. look for a new one and as an adult, stop the eye rolling

My first experience with Tokyo Joe’s was the original(I think?) location on Evans near DU. It had been years since I had so much as even thought of the place when I rediscovered this local brand in the downtown area, proving that location is everything in the restaurant business. Much to my surprise they later opened this location on Colorado Boulevard. The food is standard Japanese fast food with enough variety to keep a regular happy. Is it the absolute best Japanese food in town? No, but that’s not exactly what they are shooting for. It’s a solid lunch place. I tend to enjoy their Nikko Salad. Mixed greens, celery, red peppers, tangerine sections, sliced almonds, a flared avocado quarter and either chicken or tofu. Sometimes I have both. The miso soup is simple, yet flavorful with tofu, scallions and seaweed. The bowl menu is totally a la carte and they have sushi. The interior décor has a modern feel, with some bar style seating that comes in handy when dining alone or in odd numbers. There is patio seating available as well. I’ve had mixed experiences with the staff, but overall I’d say the staff is good, friendly and helpful. I’m a regular here and as long as the food remains a good value, I will continue to be. Check out that huge front door and bamboo wall.

Food is great, as always, but service across the Denver metro has really declined over the years, from 15 minute wait times for food, to inconsistently happy workers, to stores opening 5 – 10 minutes after posted open times. I used to eat here multiple times a week but not as much these days.

I eat at Tokyo Joe’s at least once a month. I love it when I am craving something fast, healthy, fresh, and tasty. I order ahead on their phone app and it is there waiting for me in no time. It is a nice change of pace from your other food joints like Chipotle and Smashburger. I like building my own chicken bowl. You can get brown rice and add fresh veggies. You also have your choice of sauces. I like to mix the Yakitori and dragon. It has a nice kick. I love Tokyo Joe’s for the convenience and quality of food I receive. I have not had one bad experience. I recommend stopping by if you are looking for a quick, healthy, flavorful bite.

I feel a little bad giving only two stars, but I do not think Tokyo Joe’s is worth 3. Maybe 2.5. While visiting Colorado, we stopped by for lunch. I got excited at the thought of having a ramen bowl for lunch as the day was not too hot. I got their classic ramen bowl, and the first few bites were really really good. Then about a third of the way in, I was getting kind of bored with it. By the end I was tired of it. There were SOMANY water chestnuts it was insane. They also don’t have a very strong taste so the last third of the bowl was fairly tasteless. I would have enjoyed more spinach and green onion to add some flavor. It was just a really boring bowl of food. Also the noodles — not the type I would normally expect when ordering a bowl of ramen. My husband got the Yakitori bowl, which was just drenched in sauce. So much sauce. It pretty much overpowered any of the other possible flavors of the bowl. By the end of the meal, neither one of us was really satisfied. The overall experience was kind of eh. Definitely would try somewhere else next time I’m in Colorado.

Tokyo Joe’s is one of my go to places when I want to try to eat something healthy. They are a great quick serve restaurant and this particular location is well run, a little nicer and newer than some of the others and has a nice patio. I really am always a little surprised when people complain or dock stars about thinks that are outside of the control of the restaurant. One reviewer wrote…“They have a nice outside patio, but it was too hot…” How can you blame the restaurant for it being too hot outside? It is what it is… a quick serve restaurant in the same vein as Chipotle, Smashburger, Five Guys, and even Mod Market. You order at the counter and they either call your name or they bring your food to you. If you want a sit down restaurant where they take your order, go to a sit down restaurant. But don’t try to compare the two!

I’m giving a generous 3 stars, as my family enjoyed their meal. Tokyo Joe’s is a chain. The interior is spacious, but a little gimmicky. There is a nice outside patio, but it was too hot for that nonsense. I really don’t like ordering at a counter. I feel pressured to make a decision before I am ready. The offerings include special bowl combos, make-your-own bowls, soups, and salads. I ordered a beef and udon noodle bowl with carrots, snap peas, and edamame. It feel flat. The beef was overcooked, dry and unflavored. The broth was uninspired and bland, even after adding soy sauce. The veg was not cooked properly, the carrots were too crunchy, the edamame too mushy. My family ordered various other noodle bowls and salads and loved them. I am just very picky about how my food is sourced and prepared. The service here was friendly. It was a good experience for my family, but I am not likely to return.
