Thorn Custom Inlay

I have only the highest recommendations for Thorn. Custom guitars and inlay are the stuff of this small Glendale company. Ron Thorn and company have produced some of the most beautiful instruments I’ve ever seen, and they sonically trounce anything I’ve ever played.
I ordered my axe in 2003. Koa top over black limba, rosewood neck and fretboard. Ron and I planned the guitar on the phone. I was welcomed to visit the shop and select the exact pieces of wood to be used for my instrument. Ron was gracious with his time and helped me determine just what it was that I needed from the guitar. He even helped me custom-​design a soundhole design for the semi-​hollowbody. I’ve found this kind of treatment pretty rare in the guitar world; try getting Paul Reed Smith on the phone to help you spec a guitar!
12 months later I received the guitar, which is literally my baby. Six years later it is in perfect shape and sounds better every year. Everyone who sees and hears it is floored. I’ve seen the guitars that Ron has made since I got mine, and they are only getting better.
If you are in the market for a strat or tele, Thorn is currently producing guitars which use those classic shapes as a springboard for his SoCal design.
