(Shopped 11÷30÷15 M @ 7:00pm): Quick… buy clothes and such from arguably THEBEST surf company brand in the industry at half-off before they close on Thursday, December 17, 2015! Although the brand and I shared a storied history that went back to the days when I was a grommet on the shores of Waikiki and Queens Beaches, respectively, I’d only shopped at the Glendale Galleria Quiksilver store location a few times pre-Yelping. Located in my hometown, the main deterrents were the horrible traffic and the mall themselves. Rather, I primarily shopped online for their swag. On this chance shopping adventure, I was in the area for a free-food event and noticed the bold«Store Closing» signs . Back story: Quiksilver’s U.S. division filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in September 2015 as it attempted to reorganize for better solvency. How were things during their waning days of being opened!?: The Purchase($ 54.50 Post-Discount) — I needed to replace a dying pair of black boardshorts($ 59.50 reg. price /$ 29.75 sale price), and I wasn’t about to spend too much money on a simple one-color boardshort, so this worked out perfectly! I hoped to purchase more boardshorts but there were none left in my size — good grief! Next, I picked-up a sweet plaid button-up short-sleeve collared shirt($ 49.50 reg. price /$ 24.75 sale price) which was purely an impluse buy. Although I didn’t need another shirt, one can never have enough boardshorts; after all, life is better in boardshorts! I also hoped to land some flip-flops but again none in my swimmers’ flippers size. Service — I must preface that during this time of pending closure, it’s understandable why the young cute female and two chilling males’ general sales skills were lacking. They were each friendly as one of them greeted me when I walked through the door and were helpful when I needed to try on a few items. Under normal circumstances, the service had been much better, but with hardly an incentive I felt they held the fort down well enough; yeah, I cut them some slack. When I was ready to pay, all went smoothly as expected. Parking(Free) — Located in the Glendale Galleria, there were a ton of spaces throughout the massive parking structures. If so inclined, the mall also offered valet service — ’nuff said. Atmosphere, décor, ambience — Nearly your typical surf shop with wall-to-wall apparel, bags, display tables, and footwear(no surboards or accessories), with annoying rows of ceiling track lighting that made things feel more like a photoshoot, and just enough space to maneuver between all the racks. No natural lighting whatsoever and wherever you might’ve seen any wall space there was the occasional poster(especially in the three dressing rooms). There were no TVs but Top-40 music(my bleeding ears!) played in the background. Attire — Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. Overall, the Quiksilver Glendale Galleria location was a fine store which had seen better days. But since I was an Island Boy and a true beach bum, this and most surf shop locations that were landlocked didn’t have that authentic beach feel. It wasn’t their fault, it simply how it was. Generally speaking, their prices(industrywide, actually) had also escalated to an un-aloha level. However, my allegiance for the brand won’t waiver and their clothes lasted for decades. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above(TOTAL paid experience was around $ 60.00; no tip required). And, they accept my credit card of choice… AMEX! 4.0STARS

Visiting 11÷25÷15 Going out of business. Hardly any people. Even though prices were cut, still kinda expensive. My girls like Roxy, so I just dealt with it. Board shorts, flip flops, two piece bathing suits… All sales final.

I have always loved Quiksilver, the quality is amazing and selection of board shorts are eclectic, fun and well made. I came in today to check out some rashguards and see what they have for board shorts, a very helpful young man Josh helped my shopping experience a lot more pleasant and faster, he is very knowledgeable of their products and helped me pick items that would best benefit me when I go surfing. Excellent customer service and not to mention I’ll be sporting the latest board shorts even before it hits the shelves! How cool is that!?!(Let’s just hope the waves don’t swallow me whole or that’s a total minus in the cool surfer dude points hahaha) Anyway, if your looking for the coolest beachwear, surfer gear, shorts, flops, shirts and rashguards, this store definitely has what you need. Surf’s up!
