Ate here once. Only once. The food was cold and I was tempted to take out my lighter to warm it up. The service was horrible and it took me a few minutes to figure out where the drinks were. I don’t recommend it.

Pretty straight forward. This is your average Americanized Chinese buffet. The place is huge and they have more offerings than other buffets I’ve been too. They do offer a «create your own» stir-fry station and they do have sushi. The quality is standard and no one got sick from it afterwards, which is a huge plus. It’s cheap, the food is good, not great, and there is a large variety. I’ll be back.

Using the Hibachi chain of buffets in the area as the 3 star baseline, this place is one star above. Before Hibachi, it was at or below the quality of the Hibachi chains. They do not have«sushi», but it seems the other joints have more cheese and other fillers in thier«sushi» than actual sashimi. New China has stepped up their and the quality is far better than it used to be. Probably best Buffet General’s Chicken I have had since the gold standard at the now closed Yen Ching in Urbana, IL. Worth the visit and unless you like the«sushi» or like getting the hibachi grilled stuff, the quality of food here is much better.

We went here for lunch and this place was a disaster. The first two plates in the«clean» plate rack had food steamed onto them. Several of the food items I had placed on my plate were cooler than they should have been. As in, not hot enough to be «safe». The lack of proper cleanliness and food handling scared me so we left without eating much and headed down the street to McDonald’s. If they don’t straighten out their facility, the health inspector will close this place before the end of the year.

Let’s just start by saying when it comes to Chinese buffets I have very low standards to begin with. I know not to be overly critical of any bargain restaurant but this is by far the worst restaurant I have ever eaten in. All of the food is days old and you can tell they just keep re-microwaving it. The food service here is going to kill somebody. Food cannot sit for days at room temperature. Overpriced and she want to kill you! If you walk in this place do yourself a favor and turn around. The health department needs to shut this place down

I get wonton(miso) soup at all the local Asian places and this place tops it! It is not greasy at all, all the wontons are not overly doughy or chewy. It is so yummy and my ultimate comfort food. Forget chicken noodle! Miso is a cure-all!

I actually frequent this place a lot and have a love-hate relationship with it. The prices are a tad obnoxious as I’ve literally been going to this place since it opened and have watched the prices rise over the years. Since I go to school and work during the day, like most people, a majority of the time I go here for dinner and paying $ 11 to eat here is annoying. The quality of the food depends on when you go. I’ve gone some days where the food is always fresh and nice and warm. Usually when it’s busy, so a Friday night or weekend and sometimes at lunch. But then there have been other days where it took a while for some food to get replenished. However, I can never complain about the service. Our table is always cleaned promptly and we never have to wait to pay or take a seat, even when it’s busy. I like to eat their sweet and sour chicken with angel hair pasta and the teriyaki chicken on a stick. Both of which I enjoy quite a bit. I try to steer clear of anything seafood here or at any other buffet just because I don’t trust it. At least with chicken, it’s hard to screw up. I’d also be careful of the egg drop soup; some days it tastes fine and other times(actually the past few) it’s tasted like plastic. Eeek. For the most part, eating here is a hit or miss, but I’ve had more good experiences than bad ones. When their food is good, it’s good. And warm.

Where to begin with New China Buffet? New China Buffet is a Chinese Buffet located off of Army Trail Road in Glendale Heights. You pay admissions, you walk in and serve yourself. A fairly simple business model. Now you’ve probably already seen the one star rating and figured«How could something this simple go so wrong?». Well, you’re about to find out Firstly, the name itself is misleading as I’m not sure anything here is «New». It has a very 80s decorative style on the inside. I’m not sure what was served at lower temperatures the Ice Cream or the chicken. And this applied to three different kinds of chicken I tried. All of the food I had was bland and tasteless. They served something called baked crab, you’d have to be half baked to enjoy it. I’d compare the quality of food here to a gas station, but I don’t want to be unfair to gas stations. A nearly identical restaurant in terms of the interior once existed along Roosevelt Road in Villa Park. But the food served here is quite a bit less fresh and is far far worse. This one also seems to be slightly miniaturized compared to that one, including the selection. Regret has now set in, I wasted 8.50, 25 minutes of my time and god knows how many calories on flavorless garbage here. You know a place is REALLY bad when you start saying«Man, I should have spent my money on that awful Chinese place in the Mall instead. At least the food they serve is room temperature!». This establishment should be called«Old China Buffet» to better represent how long the food has been sitting out. Of Chinese Buffets and Asian cuisine that I’ve reviewed in general this is the absolute worst! I’m giving it a star, and if I could give it a zero, I would. Avoid this place.

I should preface this review by saying I HATEhateHATEhateHATEhateHATEhateHATE(ok you get the picture) buffets. In fact, I partially attribute my adventurous palate due to the fact that I seek out the opposite of buffet food(did I mention I HATE buffets?). However, having been subjected to buffets for many years due to constraints on party size– extra large extended friends/family meant that the majority of restaurants couldn’t accommodate us… inviting everyone we wanted required banquet facilities – I have also become a de facto albeit unwilling expert on buffets. So all things considered, this buffet is a decent one. This last visit, our party of 50+ walked in with no reservations or warning, were seated promptly, and all the food was fresh and piping hot. Those who enjoy Americanized Chinese food would likely enjoy the large variety of what was available. The spicy salt chicken wings the day I went were surprisingly good, and when a full tray disappeared, another full tray of crisp wings soon followed. No issues with cleanliness or service either, the servers were unobtrustive and prompt in clearing plates when people got up for seconds or thirds. I’ll never be a fan of buffets, but if they bring those wings back and they are as good, I might consider returning for wings by the pound.(Did I just admit that I liked something about a buffet?! HORRORS!)

THISPLACEISHORRIBLE! My boyfriend and I went there on a Sunday around 5:30/6 pm. The food didn’t taste fresh or tasted odd. The chicken. I swear there has to be dogs and cats mixed in with it because it was disgusting and brown(cooked chicken is supposed to be primarily white). The rice was stale and everything tasted like it came out of a can. There was NOTHING fresh. Somehow these people messed up sweet corn. The only thing that was good was the ice cream and that’s because all they had to do was have it shipped in and frozen(But the owners kids were siting around the ice cream sneezing everywhere… I took from the other end). Will never step foot in that place again.

All I can say is if this place is less than half full when you walk in, walk right out and go somewhere else. We went at 5:30pm on a weekday and the place had only two or three other tables that were occupied. Food looked and tasted like it was sitting for quite sometime. Chicken was dry and gummy, and nothing seemed fresh. Even the ice cream was sub-par. We won’t be back.

When I travel to Chicago I always visit my old stomping grounds and favorite restaurants. Although they have a huge selection of tasty food, this place in not as good as I remember when I lived in Illinois. My favorite was the Sesame Chicken but it definitely fell short of expectations today.

Ehhh. I hate Chinese Buffet’s. My nana loves them. So we went. I will say that the food wasn’t completely horrible. A few items were pretty tasty but overall it was nothing overly exciting. The bathrooms were disgustingly dirty. DISGUSTING. If I can help it, I won’t be back. There has to be a better option to take Nana to.

$ 10 is way to much for what you get. The food is all around below adverage. I couldn’t really even find one dish that was worth having a full plate of. If you are considering going here I would opt for Joy Teriyaki which is two doors down, it’s not a buffet and Japanese instead of Chinese, but it has way better food for the same if not less of a price.

We’ve been a handful of times over the years and while it was meh ok in the past, it’s meh blah why on earth did we go here for all this deep fried crud and pay more than we feel it’s worth per head? The buffet had aging food on it, drying and lifeless under the heat lamps. Buffets aren’t always great, but this one was pretty dismal considering.

I’ve been here twice. The first time was for lunch on a slow day; I wasn’t impressed. But I went back with a group on a Friday evening a week ago and enjoyed the food much more. I think it’s better to go when busy because the food is more fresh due to their need to replenish it more often. The spicy chicken and General Tso are the best, but they have a very wide variety of dishes and lots of desserts too.
