Back here again for a quick visit. Staying in a dorm this time. Very nice people. Wish I could stay a bit longer, maybe for a retreat.

This is a wonderful place to spend a couple of peaceful days. They have rooms and beds for rent at very reasonable rates. Vegetarian meals and coffee or tea anytime of day are included. You can use it as a base to explore the area, or enjoy the tranquil, meditative vibe of staying in a spiritual community. The people here are nice and helpful. I should mention that I am a part of the Kadampa community, and that my visits have been religious in nature, but I have also come here to get away from it all, walk in the woods, enjoy the company of my fellow Buddhists, and do some reading and writing. All are welcome.

KMC New York is a beautiful, peaceful, blessed environment. I was fortunate to volunteer there for a month before the Temple opened and it is a time I remember fondly. There was a great sense of working for a purpose larger than ourselves. People pitched in and did what needed to be done. I have since attended a few Festivals there where we receive teachings and have the opportunity to engage in meditation and prayer in a large group. I enjoyed being back in the big octagonal Temple and looking at the lovely artwork. There are nice walks, a pond – complete with turtle, deer, and wild turkeys. When I walked up to the Temple in the snow, I would smile. I couldn’t help it. It was so cold my gums hurt, but I couldn’t stop smiling.
