My coworkers were really starting to like this place. So sad.

Excellent staff, even better food. Highly recommend wings and the traffic light hero. This deli offers great creative sandwiches without burning a hole in your wallet. Two thumbs up charlie. also took home a pint of the el diablo sauce. what the heck is that and why did you introduce this to me?! we need to stage an intervention cause im addicted!

Let’s start off with, WOW!!! AMAZING!
I have lived in this neighborhood all my life for the last 28 years and I must say FINALLY a Deli that is just amazing. There are a few Deli’s that are OK but this one takes the cake. I am very familiar with the area being that I worked almost every store on that strip of Union Tpke. since the age of 16. As far as I remember that Deli has changed owners 4 times since I remember. When I used to work at petland I used to go there everyday and get a sandwhich from the original Super Deli, only cause it was convenient and next door (they weren’t that bad.) But, now with this new owner I must say he has made the place do a complete 360 with those awesome hot sandwhiches that they make. All their salads are homemade no store bought stuff.
The service in their is exceptional and Roland the guy who makes the sandwhiches has been there for at least 12 years or more he is the best! He makes great sandwhiches, with the combo of the new owners idea’s, recipes, and fresh homemade items this place really stepped it up. Charlie the new owner, after going in there repeatedly I got to talk to him and he is a really cool down to earth guy. I used to go hit up Cherry Valley a lot but lately as everyone knows it has gone downhill since the early 2000. Charlie’s Super Deli definitely makes Cherry Valley look like some bodega sandwhich shop in the lower east side.
There is a sauce he makes called the «el diablo» I think? But, it’s a hot sauce that he makes himself. It has a kick to it but I love spicy foods so it doesn’t bother me, but for everyone else who has it they think it’s really spicy. They all say the same thing it’s really spicy but it has an amazing flavor! It’s not just hot it’s a hot sauce that is so good. I honestly think he should bottle it up and sell it by the bottle because I’d be buying it by the gallon. All in all this place is just great, everyday he is thinking up new ideas for new sandwhiches and foods and each and everyone of them is great. I’ve had about 8 different hot sandwhiches and going today to try another. There are days that I have been there 3 times in 1 day for breakfast lunch and dinner. They have great breakfast sandwhiches and platters. The sides like the fries and sweet potato fries are fresh made there.
All in all this place is just great, first Unilocal review ever written. I felt so strongly about this place that I’d come on here and rant about how I like this place so much. I hope he becomes very successful here so I can keep getting my great food locally! Oh and they deliver!

Thanks to Charlie’s Super Deli, I will never eat another sandwich at Blimpie or Subway ever again. This is not your average food joint. The exceptional service, quality ingredients, original menu, and affordable prices are few reasons why I needed to Unilocal about it. I just can’t settle for any of those other places anymore.
Everything from Charlie’s Super Deli is fresh and hand made right on the spot. This place never fails at pleasing my palate. Besides the incredible heros made to perfection («Nat’s More Like It», «Bada Beej», «Traffic Light» are just to name a few), I ABSOLUTELY LOVE (and have developed very hardcore cravings for) the empanadas (with green sauce), buffalo wings (with red sauce), and shrimp burger. The low-​fat frozen yogurt, grilled chicken on a whole wheat wrap, and a salad from the salad bar (with a side of the YUMMIEST chicken salad or tuna salad EVER) is also satisfying when I want to eat light.
All this talk about how great this place is sound too good to be true? You definitely won’t be burdened or disappointed when you pay for it either. Not only is the food mouth watering, but the prices are unbeatable too. It never hurts my pocket to eat great food when I get food from here. Cheap price for an expensive taste. It really does not get any better than this.
I’m more than just a huge fan about Charlie’s Super Deli as a food establishment. I love the men who run this joint too. Charlie is the coolest guy you will ever meet and it is an honor to have a sandwich made by the sandwich guru, Ronnie. It is always a pleasant experience at Charlie’s! I just had to Unilocal about it! I love you Charlie! Goodnight.

Recently had a montage of sandwiches from the Deli. There aren’t any quality deli’s in my neighborhood so its always important to stock up when I’m in queens. My experiences with NY delis had been overwhelmingly disappointing until I came across Charlie’s. The attention to quality ingredients separates this deli from all the rest.

Awesome deli!!! Food is made fresh!!! and by fresh, i mean it’s not some frozen patty being slapped on the grill, it’s real angus beef being cooked to perfection for a cheeseburger deluxe on a hero, and all for $ 5!!!
we had the burger, the traffic light (chicken cutlet topped with cheddar cheese, avocado and bacon), a honey mustard chicken salad in a roll and sweet potato fries (freshly cut sweet potato, deep fried in front of me!!)
to top it off, i got a small cup of strawberry frozen yoghurt. simply superb!!!

If I could have more stars to rate Charlie’s Super Deli I would give it a 10!
The hubs went all the way from Jersey to almost Long Island just so we can have all the delicious offerings from CSD! The honey mustard chicken salad is to die for. Charlie puts tender delicious chicken with sweet cranberries and pecans. I love this chicken salad because it was very refreshing and not overloaded with mayo. The honey mustard adds such robust flavors and the pecans add crunch. I love cranberries in just about anything but especially chicken/​tuna salads!
I also had the «traffic light» sandwich on a roll. Let me tell you: bacon + chicken cutlet + avocado on a roll/​wedge plus the fixings… = HEAVEN. That sandwich is completely amazing in it’s combo and taste. A++!
If you are a sweet potato fries kind of person. GET IT. He cuts it fresh and fries it fresh. OMG SO GOOD. SO GOOD!
The frozen yogurt is perfect for these hot days and it’s not too sweet! I love that. Move over Pinkberry/​Red Mango. I found my new favorite froyo place.
Charlie’s Super Deli has a million things to eat, salad for you healthy people and other things as well. He has a wide array of chips (try the jalepeno chips or the pop chips!) Very inexpensive, clean and the most important DELICIOUS! Charlie is super nice and his suggestions are super. If you just need a quick stop in for a drink or you want to stay and eat there… it’s PERFECT.

This place really is a stand-​up and stand-​out gem!
The key thing to note is easily the most important thing for any real foodie. And that is — they do the food RIGHT. And by right I mean, in anyone’s book — the right order of which it should be done :
DELICIOUS.
Because frankly, good food speaks for itself.
FRESH.
Because fresh just makes everything that much more delicious! Hand-​cut fries, made just when you order it? Who does that anymore?! Charlie’s does!
ORIGINAL.
Charlie [yes, there really IS a Charlie!] is so good at ‘creative’ because you can tell he’s passionate and excited about having you try his goods.
WELL PRICED.
Because if something’s not reasonable, we wouldn’t be able to treat ourselves to it often. No matter how good something is [ie; Luger’s!] — we need ‘good’ to be accessible to enjoy it!
