Is there an option for NO STARS?! I read a review that someone took their Christian louboutin shoes here to get a vibram red sole and that this place did «great work» wish I could say the same for myself. Not only is the sole sloppy and uneven but the cobbler took it upon himself to give my brand new 900 dollar shoes an unrequested polish in several spots 3 shades lighter than the actual shoe. These are brand new shoes I’ve only worn once and now they are ruined. I took them to a new shoe repair place that actually isn’t sloppy and knows how to take care of designer items and they were appalled and said he completely ruined the shoes and they’d be glad to write me a letter stating the condition my shoes were in when they received them to try and salvage my shoes when I called back to talk to them about it the girl on the phone was snippy and ride and said «well he isn’t in that’s something you’ll need to discuss with him» I demanded my money back considering the job I asked him to do was so sloppy the new cobbler I went to was apologizing for the sloppy work. Not only did he throw a messy waxy shoe polish on my shoes but he also let the machine cut down one of the spikes on my shoe and knicked the leather than threw a different colored polish on the outside of the other shoe that had no problems at all with it. I’ve taken pictures and have seriously considered showing them to my lawyer and requesting they refund me the face value of my shoes I have pictures showing the condition they were in when they were given to «Paul’s» when I told the girl I shouldn’t be paying for this sloppy work she said «he’s the only one who handles Louis Vuitton shoes» great considering they’re Christian louboutin… I also brought a pair of Prada shoes there to get stretched I’ve never worn the shoes before and the suede has black marks on it, the shoes are purple. I will NEVER give this place business again and am begging people who have designer items to never trust them with this place. I should have listened to the previous review of the girl with the cowboy boots who said they gave her an unwanted shoe polish a completely different shade. The staff didn’t even acknowledge my frustration or concern the only thing the girl said was «he tries to match the polish as closely to the shoe as he can» well that’s wonderful but I never asked for a shoe polish. I took them there ONLY to get the sole replaced that’s it. Then she was telling another customer who was considering bringing her CL’s there that he one of the two people in Illinois who will handle CL’s and he does a great job I’m sure the customer saw the look of horror on my face when I picked them up. I will be contacting the cobbler who did my shoes for a Finn refund of the work he did and it’s absurd that I have to take my shoes elsewhere to fix the problems he has created. Never take your shoes here. My brand new designer shoes look like some tacky shoes now. Just a tip in customer service don’t be rude to a customer when you make a mistake and don’t dismiss what I’m telling you. My shoes look like there’s white out on them and I have pictures to prove it. Wish I could give this place 0 stars how are they even allowed to work with designer items. My shoes were in perfect condition other than the sole and a small knick on the front of the shoe. Now the spike is shaved, there’s a glob of UNREQUESTED messy wax polish on the front and a tear in the side. Appalled would be an understatement the worst decision I’ve ever made is trusting this mediocre business with my belongings. A two year old could have done a better job. The thick red material that feels like cheap rubber was cut way too wide for the shoe. Instead of trimming it down to look like a natural sole he decided to glue the extra rubber to the side of the shoe leaving glue marks and glue all over my shoes. I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves.

I have been going to Paul’s for over 30 years and each time I bring my shoes, or other types of repairs, like my softball glove or luggage, it always looks great! I just picked up a pair of wingtip shoes that I dropped off after finding them in the back of my closet. I thought they were beyond repair but they look like new! Nice people and professional work. I know several shoe repairs have closed recently, but I hope this one stays around for another 30 years!

These guys are magicians when it comes to shoe repair! I took them a pair of expensive Blundstones, the Australian-​made shoes called «Blunnies» by their world-​wide fans. After six years of steady wearing the heels had worn to nubbins. Paul and his team returned my Blunnies good as new in two days for $ 22. That, as the Aussies might say, was «brilliant!»

Found this great place for used ice skates while searching online! Thank goodness, as we needed them for the next day. I called ahead to make sure that they had my daughter’s size. Fortunately, they did have her size. (They have a lot of skates but actually only one in her common size.) Purchased them for $ 15 which included free blade sharpening. The lady at the counter was very pleasant and struck up a conversation with us about skating. The décor is 70’s it seems to me; brought me back to my childhood!

Awesome! I took my pair of Christian Louboutins here to have them resoled and cleaned up. My shoes had been well loved and were in need of some TLC. Paul’s worked wonders on my Louboutins. They now have red Vibram soles (to match the shoe’s red sole) which look great! They also cleaned up the heel where the leather had been damaged. They look so much better now, I am so happy with how they turned out!

When I got my first real job I took a vacation to visit a dear friend in San Antonio, while there I decided to splurge on a pair of cowboy boots, I loved them dearly and I would never spend so much money on an item of clothing. I rarely wore them because I was worried that I would damage them, they never came out in the rain and definitely never in the snow. They had a unique, vintage-​like finish; one of the reasons I liked them so much.
A few months ago I was in Memphis and noticed that the cap of the heel had fallen off, my husband works close to Paul’s and offered to take them in to get the heels fixed. The price and turnaround were very reasonable.
I don’t know why, but the cobbler decided to polish the boots, bright red. When my husband sent me a photo, I almost started crying. He went back and alerted the store of the mistake, while they were sorry and attempted to fix them, I still want to cry when I see them. I’m not sure if I’ll ever wear them again and it pains me to have such a beloved purchase ruined.

Nicest people ever! I have only taken a few things there but each time I have been really happy with the results.

After a day of looking for the product I sought, I consulted, «Yelp» and found Paul’s Shoe. He was friendly and very knowledgeable of the products he sold. He did not try to «upsell» me but helped me find the best products for my needs. I discovered he worked on clothing products other than shoes — I have several leather coats that he can take care of for me. Very glad I found this little shop. Guaranteed return business.

I used to take my leather repairs to the Amish in Wisconsin, looks like I found a more local shop to take care of my smaller scale needs! I came across Paul’s by combo of memory of passing it on my frequent drives through downtown Glen Ellyn and also the internet. It can be a bit difficult to spot, it’s a small shop right in the midst of all those shops on main street on the north side of the tracks (btw, check out the resale shop next store, so good!). There is street parking.
My first time coming in was to repair the heels on my favorite pair of boots as the nail was wearing through. Cheap! I think I may’ve paid $ 12 and they were as good as new, I was so happy to be reunited with my loves.
Second visit, I brought in another pair of heeled boots, these ones needing new shoe laces (which they have a good supply) and one needed a new hook for the lace. Again, great work, paid around $ 11 or so for the repair and laces.
Employees: super nice! Doug seems to be the main guy (no, his name isn’t Paul) and has always been great whether he did the work or merely answered my questions. Ended up chatting with him for a bit about school. I’ve dealt with several different employees, all have always been great and willing to help.
The services available are numerous: purse repairs, shoe repairs, blade sharpening, sports equipment repair, horse tack repairs, supplies, you name it! They ask for a $ 5 deposit prior to any service, so please oblige them and bring some cash. They’re speedy with their work, they can get real busy but they give you a time frame if it can’t be done that day.
At any rate, Paul’s has my business!

Are you a cheapskate? Well, you can get some here. We were skating at the nearby frozen Lake Ellyn when my wife wondered if there is a place to buy skates around here. Well, there is and it’s barely a mile away, along the main stretch of businesses on Main St. in downtown Glen Ellyn.
Paul’s is a tiny storefront that still has the somewhat cluttered and dated look of the old shoe repair places that you hardly see anymore these days. Walking inside, you realize this is probably how the place looked in the 1960s.
With this being winter, there were skates all over the shelves and floor as you walk in. Hockey and figure skates for men, women, boys and girls, all of them used and going for $ 25 – 30 each. Pick out a pair that fits and they will even sharpen the blades for you at no extra charge.
They don’t have all sizes, as my wife found out, but my 10 year old son got a pair of used skates for $ 25 that fit him nicely, without the high cost of buying new. And if he outgrows them, he can bring them back for a trade-​in discount on a larger size. I found the people pretty helpful too in finding skates for you. Good place to know in the neighborhood.

Paul also repairs shoes with the highest quality and very quick service.
We are lucky to have such a great shop in our town.

I do not recommend Paul’s Shoe Repair at all. Although the staff is very friendly, the quality of the work is quite poor. I brought in 5 pairs of boots to be repaired and was beyond disappointed when I picked them up. They looked like a first grader had tried to fix them, black goop on the heels, sloppy marker looking material on the front top. It was actually quite embarrassing that the staff would hand me my boots back looking nearly as bad (maybe worse) than when I had brought them in. Old school, great boot repair shops truly are a dying art.

I used Paul’s Shoe Service for the time to get a pair of English riding boots shortened. I brought the shoes into the store had a consultation with the owner and said his wife who does the custom work would call me to discuss exactly how much I wanted shortened the price and how long it would take.
Mary called me within 24 hours, we talked on the phone for about 20 minutes discussing my boots. She really took the time to find out what I was expecting out of the service. To shorten the boots and replace a broken zipper Mary quoted me around $ 150, the final price ended up being $ 80 which seems VERY reasonable. I have a feeling many of my fellow equestrians bring there boots there, since her questions were right on point to my needs as a rider.
Once I picked up the boots I was greeted promptly by an employee who was also quite a knowledgeable equestrian (making me feel even more comfortable about bringing my expensive riding boots to them). My boots are so shiny I can still see my reflection in them. I even found out they service tack (not an easy service to find).
Overall I am very happy I have some beautiful boots that finally fit me for a good price. the way my boots sparkle alone makes me want to bring them in just to get cleaned before all my shows..

I had ordered a pair of boots from Von Maur and unlucky for me the hill was loose on one of them so I took it to Paul’s shoe repair and they had done a great work. I am happy with their service and would recommend them to anyone.

I took my luggage to Paul’s to have it repaired and they did an excellent job. Amazing prices for what they offered and I was able to get it back in way less time than I expected. I’ve gotten years more use out of my luggage with that simple repair.

Just used this place for the first time — I took a pair of leather boots in to get new heel tips put on. They had them finished in one day, and threw in a free polish! Nice, and a hell of a lot cheaper than buying new boots!
