This is my first time going to physical therapy and I wasn’t sure what to expect. I tore my ACL in November and was eager to get back to sports. I called a bunch of places and had done research on their physical therapists. Finally, when I made an appointment with Ryan, only at this location did they ask me if I was pre-op or post-op. When I started physical therapy in November, I was pre-op and I’m post-op now. If you think you can just come into the office and start physical therapy the day of, you’re wrong. Prior to starting physical therapy, you need to come in for an evaluation(self report on what activities you are able to complete and the level of difficulty association with the task). This evaluation is then sent to your insurance company to see how many sessions your insurance will cover, if any at all.(Anita, who handles all the paper work does an excellent job on contacting your insurance company and processing forms.) Your physical therapist will ask you questions about your injury(how it happened, level of pain, concerns, etc.) and will give you a run down of what to expect and the goals of physical therapy. In addition, the physical therapist will have you do some exercises and see how well you can perform those to access where you are and you’ll provide information on what area is causing the pain. I asked a bunch of questions to my PT, Ryan, pre-op and he did a spectacular job answering all my questions. I’m only 22 years old and as a super active individual, I didn’t want this injury to be a set back. Every single session I would come with questions and each time, Ryan was able to provide a thorough answer and example if applicable. This made me super confident in the exercises/stretches Ryan had me do. I knew what the goal and what muscle we were trying to target. In addition, the technicians working(Mel) was super knowledgable too! Occasionally when Ryan was walking through another exercise with a different patient, he would have Mel show and explain the exercise to me. Not only did they both do an excellent job with this, they corrected me when I would perform an exercise poorly. After my ACL reconstruction(surgery), Ryan left for a different job but no worries because the new PT Rachel was just as qualified! I ask a bunch of questions all the time, and each time, Rachel has not disappointment me. Not only does she provide an explanation, she provides the background or example that enable me to better understand my health. She is attentive when I perform my exercises, correcting and explaining the objective of the exercise and each session has measured the ROM to see my progress. Rachel has does an excellent job getting the ROM back into my knee and getting the muscle back into my calf, quad and hamstring. In addition, she provided great tips/warnings in exercises that I should be careful with. I’m about 4 weeks post-op and I feel great! I am confident in myself and my PT. I think what has made my recovery so amazing was that my pre-op and post-op PTs have pushed me through my exercise. They’re not super conservative with the exercise but it is just the mindset they need if you want the best and fastest recovery. I always have morning appointments and come when they open and they are always there on time!(My mother use to go to a different place and she told me they were always late) Overall, the physical therapists here make you feel 100% comfortable. Physical therapy isn’t easy and it can be frustrating but this office does such an amazing job encouraging you and pushing you through your exercise. Would definitely recommend this office!
