If I could I would give this place 0 stars as far as the cakes are concerned. Ordered a cake which was bad. The attendants so well versed with English that they couldn’t understand a word I was saying. They can’t speak English period. 55 dollars wasted. Above all my 5 year old sons birthday was spoiled coz of these inconsiderate buggers. Will Not Recommend It To anyone.

I agree with the first reviewer of this place, «Hidden gem» indeed. I have to say that I give this restaurant predominately El Salvadoran food. a 4 ½ stars but I will round it off to 5 stars for the fact that I am not well-versed in Central American food although I have had it a few handfuls before. From what I DO know and how my taste buds react, this place is legit. Since this business is barely on the radar much less, Unilocal’s radar… I thought I would hurry and write a review for this Mom n Pop joint in hopes it would help make this restaurant bloom. My whole family and I were on a bike ride along the BWI trail and I was taking in the scenery and this place caught my eye from the back of it’s business… I noticed the small sign and read«Christy’s Latin Bakery & Café» …I yelled at my husband ahead of me to make a stop, betting each other that the place might be closed on Memorial Day… he quickly reminded me that if they’re truly Latin then they wouldn’t care about closing on an American holiday… I concurred and we rode our bikes around the corner. The bakery section is what catches your eye at first when you walk in with a glass closet full of Latin sweet breads and a glass case in the front adorned with Latin desserts. In between both is a wall of Wedding/Birthday cake examples of the possible popular choices. Since we were in a hurry to get home, we picked out a few sweet breads for our girls, flan, and tres leches for later after dinner. Later that day we decided to go back for dinner and glad we did. We ordered an array of goodies, so much that the lady said in Spanish that it might be too much food for just us. Haha! So we took off one papusa off the order. :) We ordered one bean/cheese papusa, chicken/veggie croquete, carne asada tacos, The bean/cheese papusa was very good but not the best I’ve had but definitely worth trying. The chicken/veggie croquete was not seasoned very well and hardly memorable. The carne asada tacos were good although the seasoning could’ve been just a tad bit more aggressive. Overall, I had seen most of the customers were Latino and word just needs to get out for the gringos to come out and try something new for this area. Come out, come out, wherever you are!

This place is a hidden gem. They serve very authentic El Salvadorian food such as empanadas and my favorite papusa(a quesadilla that is so much better than a quesadilla), but by far the best thing they serve at this place are their desserts. Gently flavored with a texture that will guarantee to soothe all of your taste buds, their flan is one of the best I ever had. My favorite were the cakes I bought at the front counter. One of the most moist cake I ever had in my life, biting into it made me feel like I was in heaven. You haven’t even heard the best part yet… THEYMAKEWEDDINGCAKES. Based on their quality of their cakes I had, I was ready to pronounce Christy’s as my prime wedding cake caterer for my future wedding… there, I said it. Enough said, when you pass by Glen Burnie through Ritchie Highway, stop by Christy’s and sweeten up.
