Ever since I have moved to the area, I have had a terrible time finding a good tailor. I’ve always been one to stick with my local dry cleaner as my tailor, but having tried on three separate occasions over the last year to give them my business, I have been disappointed each time. Their dry cleaning services are relatively expensive. That being said, there is a «value» dry cleaners only 5 minutes away from here which is very difficult to compete with and which I am spoiled by. That being said, I decided to try and make this my «tailor» spot. The first time, I had a dress shirt which four of the buttons had actually come off. It was a less than ideal situation, but the clerk asked me to go to a local store and buy a complete set of buttons so they would all match as he had to replace all of the shirts button. Not the most convenient, but I certainly made do. After I got the shirt back, I noticed that he did not sew the buttons on as tight as he could have an immediately after one wear one or two started to come off. Against my best judgement, I returned today with a sports coat that needed a new set of three buttons, as one had come off completely and the other two had come off. Surely any tailor has a box full of buttons next to their machinery. But not here — he asked me to go to Walmart, buy a set of three buttons(you can’t just buy three!) and return to him and he would do it. I walked out and went to another tailor a little further down the road and they did the entire job for $ 10.00. That aligns with my expectations: I drop it off, you take care of it however you see fit, I pay the bill. I was offended that he would expect me to go find buttons. At that rate, I might as well have found someone else to sew it and eliminate him all together! If that wasn’t clear enough, know I won’t be returning.
