BARK – Bandit’s Adoption and Rescue of K9s

I adopted my doggie at Bark and she’s a great dog. They do a really excellent job of matching the person with the dog. Their online adoption form is a bit rigorous, but I think that’s important to have when you’re adopting out animals that have had tough lives. You will have to leave references, I hate doing that but Bark was kind and respectful to my references when they called. Their website is good. You can tell all the volunteers love dogs and work really hard at adoption days and everything else that one needs to take care of a herd of pups. They spay and neuter all their dogs. When you adopt from them you get a bunch of awesome coupons for Petsmart (useful, since adoption is in the Petsmart) and a coupon for a free visit from their vet.
Everything went really smoothly with my adoption and everyone was great. The only reason this review is 4 stars (4.5, really) instead of 5 is that after I adopted her my vet had some questions about her spay and her previous environment. When I asked Bark about it they were vague and I felt like they were trying to give me the runaround or ignore and gloss over what I was asking them. Not a big deal, maybe they just didn’t know and didn’t want to tell me they didn’t know, it just came out weird and I felt a little… odd.

After we lost our first dog, the house was empty and quiet. I missed having her around. A couple weeks later we went out to a rescues open house at a pet store to get my doggie fix. After the first one, we stumbled onto another one. This one was BARK’s pet adoption day at a pet food store.
I walked around the cages and saw this beautiful white German Shepherd laying in his crate in the regal way only a Shepherd can pull off. He looked at me with his soft, warm, brown eyes and I asked to see him. The volunteer got JoJo Shep out of his cage and the dog jumped up on me and showered me with kisses. So maybe he didn’t have the best manners but he did have plenty of love.
BARK had rescued him from a shelter who was going to put him down because of the horrible heath condition they found JoJo in when he arrived. Bob (who runs the place) did not accept that and took JoJo to the BARK vet and after a few weeks, the dog was off deaths door. As a testament to this care, over a year after adopting JoJo, we went back to let JoJo say good bye to Bob because we were moving to California. JoJo ran up to him and almost tackled him! Even after all that time away, the dog still remembered the kindness shown to him!
Bob and the rest of the people at BARK are commitment to the welfare of the dogs in their care. They spare no expense in caring for these dogs and do their best to place them in the best home possible. If the dog is not placed, they can live their life out on the BARK farm.
If I was a dog and found myself on the street, I would want BARK to pick me up!
