The kids make it necessary to visit these family oriented restaurants, so what’re ya gonna go? The local choices in Glastonbury are many, but the kids are notoriously finicky. We need a place where we can all get something reasonable at a decent price. Italian is the best bet, since one child won’t do Chinese. Bertucci’s fits the bill AND has call ahead seating. They love the hot fresh rolls and are quieted immediately with, yes… filling up on bread(may my late mother forgive me!) There is a decent kids menu and fine choices for everyone. I like soup in the winter, but it sorta lost its charm when i complained that the soup was so much thinner and less well spiced than usual. The waitress actually said, «it really depends on how much water the chef adds to the bag.» The BAG? That took all the appeal out if it for me. Ew. But that is this type of establishment. Don’t expect a stellar culinary experience. But it’s adequate & fits our needs. Plus there’s wine. I’ll try a salad next time. ;)

This place is cursed. After giving up about four years ago we decided to order a pizza to go in a weak moment and having had years of New Haven pizza in the mean time were so disappointed that I sent corporate an email. They sent me a $ 20 gift card. So we went there for dinner and the waitress brought my wife the wrong meal. You can’t make this stuff up. All I can say is that the rolls are fantastic but you can’t run a restaurant selling only rolls. After many years of disappointment I am convinced that there is no hope for this place and please don’t let me be seduced by a roll fix.

My family and I went to dinner here this evening. It was one disappointment after another. To start, our appetizer was burnt and therefore inedible, yet this dish was served. Second, the service was poor. We waited about 1 hour to be served with our meals. When the food arrived, it was not warm and the same dishes had differing portions. My meal was cold and it tasted awful. I had the manager come over to discuss my disappointment with the service and meals. He looked at me practically speechless and said he was sorry. We will NEVER eat there again! Once frequent diners no more.

It’s okay. Pizza thin crust. Pretty good. Not to busy and didn’t see wait person all that much. Never followed up. Manager had to get us grated cheese and pepper flakes. Dessert small portion for price and looked pre-fab. Solid three. Don’t expect professional service.

Terrible service. The waitress did not check on us at all. It took us almost 1.5 hours to get our pizza. I can understand if they are busy but to not tell anyone at the table anything for that long is insane. And I see that this is a chain and will not be eating at this location again, that is for sure! YUCK

Great lunch with my girls. Lunches were just the right size so we could have rolls and salad and they still ate their meals.

This review is about my experience with the carry out portion from yesterday, even though this place has been disappointing for years. Prompted to write a review after yesterday. I’ll try to be short. Placed an order 2 hours in advance for a carry out order as I was driving back from Boston and just wanted to pick up some food. Got here on time and after waiting for 10 mins, the girl comes back and says you need to wait your order isn’t done. Finally after waiting 20 minutes PAST my pick up time the food was ready. The manager on duty happened to hear that I had been waiting and said can I help you? I mentioned that my order was due for pick up at 4:10 and it’s now 4:30. «Well the time didn’t come through in the system» with an attitude, no apology, sorry you had to wait or anything. «But you did get my phone number and email and didn’t think to verify a blank time on an order?» A shrug and repeated that there was no time, despite me showing my confirmation email with the correct time and all my info. Way to represent management, I can see why your employees leave much to be desired since you set such a great example. DON’T COMEHERE. I have refused to dine in for years because this place is filled with incompetent people that are slow, mess up orders or are outright rude. If you want some food go to Chilis across the street from here. Better food and nicer people.

Happy hour over too soon 4:00pm to 6:00pm, wine $ 3 a glass and half price appetizers. I had the fried mozzarella $ 2.50 and roasted vegetables $ 4.00 they were really good and I had enough left overs for lunch tomorrow. The bar is small so you need to get there early, and the staff were really friendly and working hard to please.

I normally shy away from chains but my mom likes this place and it was her birthday so of course, I took her where she wanted to go. I was completely expecting to give a good review– tasty food, great service, clean, bright atmosphere. And then 30 minutes after leaving the restaurant, my husband and I were taking turns running to the bathroom. I will spare you the grim details of our food poisoning– use your imagination. Either way, I am no longer impressed. Stay away from the seafood. In fact, just stay away.

Three star food, five star waitress. I really have never been wowed by anything at this restaurant but our service was outstanding tonight. Thankyou to our server, Elizabeth, for being awesome.

I ordered the mini pizza and salad lunch special. Long after the pizza arrived the waitress asked how everything was. I said well, I didn’t get my salad and at this point I don’t want it. She said, «oh ok». Then I was charged for the entire lunch even though I only received half. Drinks sat empty the entire visit and we waited way too long for our check. The margherita pizza was awful on top of everything else.

I very much enjoy Bertucci’s. My wife and I have enjoyed this location for years. My wife and I enjoy the Sporkie pizza. I have very infrequently strayed from this meal, but when I have, it’s been great. One of things I enjoy is that they provide the kids some raw pizza dough to play with. It’s a small thing, but when you have kids, it makes the difference. One of the things I most look forward to is the rolls. They are free and terrific.

I have fond memories of Bertucci’s being a nice ‘treat’ when I was a kid. It was a nice family dinner out on a regular basis. As I got older, I gradually began to realize the mediocrity that we were consuming. That being said, I still enjoy it for what it is. You can enjoy a good meal here, but just don’t go in expecting all the bells and whistles. It’s run of the mill Italian food produced for the masses. This location, in particular, does a pretty good job. Service seems decent the few times we’ve dined here, and they have a great take-out operation. I, personally, enjoy ordering online(great website), and then everything is ready to go at the exact time I specify. They are usually right on the mark with the pick up times. I would also recommend scouring the newspaper each week for coupons, as they have some great ones! You can easily save $ 10-$ 15 off your meal with some of their deals.

I have been here a couple times in the past 3 months. It’s clean and the staff is quite friendly. That’s a plus. The food I ordered(chicken parm and eggplant parm) was really salty. I mean I know italian food is salty but this was a little over bearing. Also, the rolls were stale one time. How are you not gonna give me fresh rolls?

Had a new girl as our waitress, her first day, she did a great job. Food was just OK. Pizza was average. Salmon was good.

Late lunch may not be the best time. The waitress seemed to be in a huge hurry… Even asking about dessert before we had even finished lunch. Not the experience I was expecting.

Placed and order online 2 hours before pick up. Pretty simple order. One meal, salad and bread. Arrived on time and was told it would not be ready for 20 – 30 minutes. I decided to cancel the order and go elsewhere. No call to let me know things were backed up and no apology no nothing. I understand things get backed up and a call giving me a heads up would have been fine. But to drive in and find out then is really poor service.

This location tend to be a hit or miss, food generally comes out better when you eat it there vs if you take out, because they seem to not care as much how it comes out when you take your food to go, I guess they figure are you really going to turn around and bring it back once you are home… The service is really good however the best service is by the bar area. This franchise has a good variety of choices wether you are looking for a quick lunch salad/panini combo or some good old spaghetti with meatball comfort dish. Their desserts are top notch too. In this location I choose to come here when both Max’s are packed and/or JGilberts aren’t open yet. If you are not picky and in a hurry to get some lunch this place will do.

I went to Bertucci’s in Glastonbury for a Mother’s Day Celebration with my aunt. I believe it is a restaurant world fact that Mother’s Day is the number one holiday for chaotic restaurant experiences. Our server was very nice, and forewarned us that normal service time was a bit delayed. Most of the tables around us had parties of six or more. So yeah, it did take quite a bit longer for our food to arrive, but overall, the service was it’s usual Bertucci’s goodness. Side note: Has anyone else tried to request the oil for the bread without cheese? They always say that it just comes that way and they can’t change it. Why they can’t pour plain oil onto a plate, I will never know. I ordered the Farmhouse Salad, sans pepperoni, as my meal. Sometime between my last visit to Bertucci’s and present day, this salad was transformed to quadruple its size, with fewer ingredients. Essentially, it’s a gigantic bowl of lettuce, with strips of peppers, tomatoes, mozz, and cured olives across the top. Not bad, but the lettuce to other ingredient ratio is waaaay off. I wouldn’t recommend this as an entrée salad. For desert I ordered the Piccolo Chocolate Budino. Both the cost($ 2.99) and the portion size were a total win! It’s about six spoonfuls of creamy chocolate pudding/mousse deliciousness, served in an edible chocolate cup. I love that they offer this, and other desserts in the the Piccolo size, as I never have room for a huge dessert. Overall, for a chain, Bertucci’s is a pretty reliable place to go for good food and service.

I placed an online order for 4 large pizzas for my boyfriend’s birthday party, which was convenient. I also ordered two salads. The salads I assumed would be bigger because after you place the order for the large pizza it asks you if you would like to add a salad. I thought the salad would be proportional to the size of the pizza you ordered. Not true. The salad is enough for one person. The pizzas actually looked bigger in the pictures too. I thought they would be sort longer because the pizzas at BAR in New Haven are like that too. They are standard large size. The pizzas weren’t bad, but I’ve had much better for much less. I think it was way overpriced for what I got. My 4 larges barely fed a hungry 9 people party. I figured that rather than order your regular pizza from down the street I’d pick them up here and they’d be better. I do realize it is a chain, but so is Pizzeria Uno and I love their pizzas. I was really disappointed. I get the same type of pizza from Wooster Street in Storrs and it’s way cheaper. Moral of the story the price is not proportional to the quality in this case.
