I usually only write reviews when service is great or if it is bad more than once. I have gone to PBs for years and since the renovation it has gone down hill. On numerous occassions it has been horrible service. Today I went for breakfast, we were seated right away at a table with no utencils. We were not greeted and were just asked what we wanted to order. Our drinks came and there was black specs in. one of our waters. When i looked down at my water there was a bug! I had already drank the water! It took our waitress 10 min to even come over to take our orders, when the bug in my. drink was addressed it was shrugged off like it happens all the time. Our waitress continued to be unattentive and cold. I also waited 15 min for my coffee to be filled. To top off this wonderful morning, the waitress took my brothers food before he was finished. This establishment does not care for their customers. I paid full price for my bill and noone apologized for the bug.

So my daughter and I were down at Rowan University for a couple of days of field hockey(why else would I travel?!?) and we needed a place for lunch. Since my daughter couldn’t give me a solid answer as to WHAT she wanted I chose PB’s because I knew we’d find something. We were seated quickly, but I noticed a bit of a chaotic feel as soon as we walked in the door. Hostess was a bit frantic, waitress took longer than she should have, never got water, asked for extra napkins when the food came(never got them)…overall the service was a bit slow and shoddy. My daughter ordered a Grilled cheese, but it was underdone on one side. Additionally, the fries weren’t crispy, but the French onion soup was pretty good(I think that’s the reason she wanted three stars-French onion soup makes her happy). I went a little off the reservation and ordered the chicken parm sandwich-which I didn’t enjoy or finish. Seemed like it was just a few sliced chicken fingers-with sauce on top seemed like it was just poured over the top from a jar. I did enjoy the Manhattan clam chowder which was pretty good and my salad was ok-mixed greens, 2 cucumber slices, about ¼ of a tomato and a side of dressing. I wanted to give them 2 stars, but my daughter insisted on three. I can live with that, but I’d probably try someplace else next time.

Okay, here’s the thing about PBs: if you need some fatty diner food after a rough night of alcohol and frats, this is great. If you’re a nuclear family with 2.5 kids that needs lunch after going to church, don’t go here. You can decent enough grilled cheese, but that’s about it. I will say this, they have some pretty good cakes and sweets. Overall, I’d say go to another diner of you can, such as Angelos. But if you’re doing a walk of shame on Sunday and you just need some hashbrowns, hey why not. Really your call on this one

SIGH… it has taken a while to write a review. We really wanted to write a 5 star review but the inconsistency of food quality and service just don’t warrant more than 3 stars. We’ve been coming here for over a year… sometimes a few times a week especially during football season in 2014. Over that time we have rarely seen the same severs as they apparently turn over more frequently than the tables themselves. That often creates for poor service and staff that has no clue about the menu. The most current example was dressing(asked for in the side) being put on my salad so much so that the remnants looked like a ½ finished bowl of soup and an incorrect bill(did not adjust for their 2 for 25.99 dinner pricing). The food ranges from excellent to just bad. We used to know which nights to avoid(different chef) based on the wings but honestly it’s a crap shoot anymore. The last 3 times we were there(over a 3 month period) we say the same thing«we’re done with them» yet we keep going back just hoping and praying that the food and service return to what it was a year ago… and it hasn’t. If anything it’s gotten worse. So despite their amazing selection of craft beers and great football specials, we’re done with PB’s…well at least until our memory and ire fades and the desire for some funky craft Belgian beer gets the better of us. 3÷29÷16. And we’re back to not enjoying the food. This place is total hit or miss and the food quality is a constant yo-yo

Ordered the Texas Ruben. Worst sandwich I have ever had. Small beef sandwich with a burnt taste and no saurcrout or Swiss cheese. Not open faced. They don’t know what a real Ruben is. Had to wait for my fries. $ 10 for a Sad experience.

Stumbled on this place while driving back home from South Jersey and typing in «diners» into the Waze app. Place is pretty big and looks more like a bar than the typical jersey diners. There seemed to be quite a few people waiting to be seated so I was afraid it would be a long wait but everyone was seated very quickly. I ordered my usual diner order: Greek omelette with bacon. Food came fast and tasted just fine. Coffee wasn’t bad either. Waitress was pleasant(didn’t catch her name).

This place is the pits. After receiving a less than desirable greeting from an unsavory gentleman in a wrinkled Kohls style shirt, we waited what seemed like a eternity to place a simple drink order. We then ordered what we believed to be a simple enough meal. This was our second mistake. Our egg breakfast seemed to be taking quite a long time, until our server felt it necessary to tell us the operations of the business, explaining to us that their«chef» confused our orders. My omelet was a delicacy I would not serve to the man who killed my father. If you pass this Golden Globe award winning establishment, be sure to stop in and use the john, which conveniently has a hole in the door.

As a vegan, there are very few options here for me. Twice I have ordered the pasta primavera with only veggies. The first time it was ok, the second time it was totally bland and the pasta was very undercooked. The veggies had no flavor, no texture. It really was just something to eat so I wouldn’t be hungry. Very disappointing. The veggie quesadilla is pretty good as a lunch option, but for dinner, I’d go elsewhere.

I was reluctant to review this place after my first time eating here but I’ve given it several tries now(breakfasts, lunches) and the verdict is in: PB’s is out. The food(eggs, potatoes, toast coffee; pancakes and coffee; burgers, fries, and beers) always manages to be underdone and overdone all at once! Also, the food was stone cold on every visit. The servers we had were gruff and it took a painfully long time to get our orders or to get water or meal accompaniments like hot sauce, or even the check after we were finished. I understand slow service during busy times but when staff far outnumber customers there’s a problem. Last, everything felt sticky, as though our table wasn’t properly wiped down. We really try to visit local businesses but the bad has outnumbered the good every time we’ve eaten here, so unfortunately, we won’t be back again.

Eggs Benedict at Hollywood Diner or Seven Star Diner are much better. Not to mention the couple times I’ve been here the servers are so monotone and miserable it definitely takes away from my mood lol.

I’ve been into PBs 3 times. Each time my time spent here has progressively gotten worse… First time I went there and ordered a pork, egg, and cheese sandwich for breakfast. Pretty simple request??? I think not. It took about 30 minutes to get my sandwich. I ate that sandwich with NO drink because I didn’t see my waitress again until the meal was finished. The sandwich itself was okay, but the bread was soggy, as though it had spent time sun bathing underneath a heating lamp back in the kitchen. The second time, I made the mistake of getting the fish tacos. Barely any fish. If you’re interested in cabbage tacos with sour cream dipping sauce, please order the fish tacos. The waitress didn’t bring my friends toast over until he had asked for it twice. And I have a feeling refills are against PBs policy because once again, I didn’t get one. Also, the roof was leaking on my shoulder. Third and LAST time I will go here, I went with a group of about 10. Now when with a large group, I understand service being slightly slower. But not wrong… I ordered old bay fries and a burger. I got my fries when every one else got there entrees and didn’t get my burger until everyone was already finished. Three strikes and I’m done.

It says right on the page, «receive 10% off your food» which is complete BS. I stopped in here with a few friends one night just to grab drinks(not my choice) as we only stayed for about 30 minutes. Our server was kind of slow and the atmosphere was a bit strange. One of my friends decided to order food and when we went to pay, I let him use my 10% discount as it popped up when I checked in. The girl at the register claimed that they don’t accept Unilocal discounts in the rudest way possible. Looks like false advertisement to me. I have no desire to come back to this place.

Crab cake sandwich was nothing but breading. How does a «taproom» not have the syrup to make strawberry margaritas? Strawberry daiquiri was disgusting. Such a disappointment. This place bit off more than it can chew in its attempt to move away from being just a diner.

Here another restaurant where I’ve been to dozens of times over the years. I can’t remember a single time when I’ve had a bad meal. The food here is very good, if not excellent. What’s more… if I were a thief and made a career of robbing places, PB’s can keep the register money, I’m just going to take the Death By Chocolate cake… it’s worth a stint in the slammer. Holy cow! I’ve had breakfasts, lunches, and dinners here, all very good! The newer tap room is impressive and the bartenders are great. My most recent trip was last week when I had their half chicken dinner special. It was great. With that came a side of split pea soup. Wow! Home run! I’ve been to many places that do not know how to make a good split pea, but PB’s was truly off the hook. Now to the service. A few people wrote about poor service and long wait times. Honestly, the service staff has, at the very least, been competent. A vast majority of times, for me at least, the service has been very good! However, I have had a couple of occasions where I thought the wait time after the order was a little long. This was not the server’s problem. It might have been more to do with a busy customer load. Either way, this didn’t effect the food quality during those times as the food was still great and at the proper temperature. Obviously, by the responses of the owner here, he and the staff care about their customers and work hard to correct any issues. Give this place a shot, my family and friends(and I) love this place.

This place is our«go to» when in town for University events. PBs is a diner with a little extra … Good breakfasts and good dinners if you’re into the std diner comfort foods. Lots of beer taps to choose from and live music on the weekends. Attentive service. Comfortable place.

I’m a pretty regular patron at PB’s, and haven’t had anything to complain about until the day before yesterday — minor or not, it lost my business. I went there with my boyfriend for a quick bite to eat, and was quickly greeted by a male server who said he would be with us in a few minutes. More than«a few minutes» go by, so I ask the hostess if she can do me a solid and grab the male server who greeted us. An older female server comes up and says she’ll be right with us and that she’s our server — miscommunication much? I’ve worked in many a restaurant and was under the impression that servers had sections. Anyways, we order our beer and food — the latter of which was awful. How can you screw up a grilled cheese sandwich? The chef at PB’s has written the book on it. Last time I checked the cheese should be melted and not still in squares(see attached picture). This is one of the easier sandwiches to make, and you think it’s acceptable to it send out to a table half-cooked and luke warm? Thank god I did’t order anything with meat or it might have been undercooked, too.

I was hugely let down by this Jersey Diner experience. We went mid-afternoon on a Saturday and it was surprisingly busy(college student breakfast time, I guess!). The atmosphere was lacking despite a somewhat recent renovation. It had no character, diner or otherwise. The menu was extensive but nothing really appealed to any of the four of us, only a few side or breakfast dishes were under $ 9 – 10. Our waitress was far too busy to give us any of her attention and when asked, she didn’t think the 2-egg breakfast special came with toast or anything. Just eggs. For $ 5.79. So my friend ordered this with a bagel, and it came with hashbrowns. Other friend ordered the same. Additional friend ordered mozzarella sticks. These came with a watery marinara and looked fresh out of the freezer. I ordered the French onion soup, which looked delicious but was too salty to eat. First I watered it down, which didn’t help. So I dumped out the broth altogether, but the onions were too salty to eat too, so I picked off the melty cheese and left the rest in two bowls. No one asked how our food was. At the end, our party got split up between two tables that cut in front of two of us in the jumble to get to the cash register. Before ordering I had asked for separate checks, but while waiting to cash out our waitress told me I should have asked for separate. «I did before ordering.» «You should have reminded me.» There was no opportunity. This exchange was the cherry on top of an overpriced and disappointing lunch. I won’t be going back.
