The food was great, service was OK, friendly staff, my plate had some type of dry crusty food on the side but I can live with that I’ll go back…

Consistently good food, not fancy smancy. Just good old diner type food. They have a Japanese/Hawaiin/American/Mexican mix going on there. It never smells strongly. I know it sounds weird to have so many different types of foods, but it works out and all the food tastes great. Service is okay, never bad but never good. Usually clean and a nice homey enviroment. Id suggest going on Friday for Clam Chower, getting a California burger(Pictured below, with crab! So good) or a Japanese breakfast with Spam! In the end, it’s cheat, good and plentiful!

One of the best burgers I have had in a long time! The side salad was actually tasty and the service was super friendly and fast. I had an appointment and was able to order, dine and pay well before 45 minutes. The food tasted very fresh, my burger was cooked to perfection. I will definitely dine here next time I travel to Gilroy.

Twice in 1 week… Came in to try Scotty’s. We haven’t been since we were kids. Still looks exactly the same! 1st trip had the Yaki $ 7.75 Fried Noodles & vegetables w/chicken(a lot like chow mein) It was delicious! Came with soup or salad(I had the albondiga soup) and ice cream for dessert. 2nd time we went in specifically for the prime rib dinner $ 15.50(sat and sun only) It was really really good! Starts off with their fondue… yum! Then soup and salad(chicken noodle soup was fab) Then came the prime rib… cooked to perfection with veggies, mashed or baked potato and a side of au jus. I had the petite and it was huge. After was dessert… sherbet. It was all very very good! Service was great and very fast! Full bar too. We left stuffed and with leftovers… well at least I had leftovers ;-) We will be back again!

Food was fine. But I asked for a box, more coffee, and where the restroom was. I come back to my table and it was cleared. I just told the waitress I was going to the restroom. Why did they clear my table. That is very annoying and I still had half my lunch. I guess that’s a sign to leave so as I am leaving I asked the waitress why she cleared my table and her answer was your money is right here. I wanted the rest of my food to go like I asked and the cup of coffee before I left. I guess I won’t be eating here any more. At least other restaurants if they clear your table before you were ready to leave, they will bring you another meal for the one they just cleared.

First of all I must say that this is not where I wanted to go. I wanted to go to a place that is very popular and right around the corner. As I was driving, I realized that church was out and there was no chance of getting a table anytime soon. I drove down Monterey Street slowly and was going to try some place new. I passed by Scotty’s and remembered going there as a child. It is inside a bowling alley and I would get a basket of fries at the restaurant. I decided to give it a shot. It was pretty full but I was solo so I sat at the counter. I was greeted by a very nice server who gave me a small bowl of fruit salad and a muffin. I ordered the loco moco(I was surprised they offered this because nobody except Hawaiian spots offer it). It came very quick and it was very good. Perfect spice without the overly salty flavor. Very pleased with my entire experience there. I gave it 4 stars but for a bowling alley restaurant, it is 5 stars. Price was cheap Food was great Service was fast and friendly Well Done

Food here was great! Quick service ! Great portion size! Although the waitress was a little pushy with telling us how to order she had a sense of humor. After you’re done eating there’s a hidden bowling alley in the back.

We were suggested this restaurant by a friend. When they said«Try the bowling alley», I thought: Bowling alley food is always good. Why not? This bowling alley restaurant is a step above others! It serves American, Japanese, Mexican and Hawaiian food. The place is not much to look at… pretty much like other bowling alley diners, but it has lots of seating and the staff is full of smiles and suggestions. And, well, I’m there to eat, not look. I ordered the prime rib & tempura combo. It came with soup AND salad, veggies AND potatoes. AND a dessert cup!!! $ 20 No joke. Did I eat it all? No. I’m a little girl… I’d hurt myself. Did I want to eat it all? YES! Since it was Friday, I chose clam chowder for the soup. I’m super picky about clam chowder because I make mine home made. Scotty’s was AWESOME. Full of clams. Good size slice of prime rib, full plate of tempura, tasted like home made mashed potatoes(you can tell powder ones!) with awesome gravy. I’m sad to say I didn’t get to even see the dessert cups. My husband was full off his calamari steak and my 9 year old girl was full off helping me and nibbling on her good-looking chicken strips and fries. We WILL be back when we shop at the outlets. And bring our friends!

This place is kind of a trip. A restaurant in a bowling alley? Huh? A place that serves Hawaiian food in Gilroy? Huh? A place that serves Hawaiian food inside a bowling alley? What the hell??? The wife and I have been here for breakfast a couple of times. The food is decent, nothing to write home about. But the twist is that they have Hawaiian style breakfasts. You can get Loco Moco and Chinese style sausage. Kinda weird. I just had a regular omelette but the wife had the breakfast with Chashu and she said it was good. If you’re looking for Hawaiian style food in Gilroy I think this place is your only shot.

Heading back from San Francisco, we were looking for a nice, non-chain place to eat. Found Kelly’s, walked in, and were immediately seated. The waitress could not have been better. Friendly, attentive, helpful. The food was good. Not blow your socks off, but for the price, it was good. I would not hesitate to come back. The bread pudding was fantastic.

Rolling down the 101 on Mother’s Day morning we were looking for a breakfast place. We drove by the Black Bear Diner and people were spilling into the parking lot. Decided to drive into town and look for a place that had cars parked in front. Lo and behold we discovered Scotty’s. We were seated immediately and had some of the best service you could ask for. Sunday brunch was about $ 8.00 and with coffee we spent under $ 20.00 for 2. The staff was outstanding. The food was good, see what the other reviewers have written regarding their diverse menu Talked to the owner who has been there for 45 years and many loyal staff have been there many years also. It may be hard to spot, so look for the bowling alley. Were foodies and had been dining at some exclusive restaurants in San Francisco but we will remember Scotty’s. We will definitely go back.

To truly appreciate Scotties, you would have to be an older person that is familiar with the old Hank’s Coffee Shop in J-Town San Jose. It is unusual to have a family restaurant where the cuisine is a mixture of old time Japanese, Hawaiian and good old American. There is only one other place like this besides, Scotties and the closed Hanks, the Fourth Street Bowl Coffee Shop in San Jose. I have prefaced this review with this information because Scotties reminds me of a pleasant memory of childhood. Scotties does not represent itself as one type of cuisine. Like the great country we live in Scotties is a melting pot of cuisines. A cross culture experience that everyone should try at least once. I have always thought that some cuisines of some cultures are naturals to mix, such as Mexican and Chinese. At Scotties they have mixed Japanese or Asian or whatever you want to call it with good old country American. I have been a fan of this mixture since Hank’s Coffee Shop in the 60’s. Be adventurous and try something that you have never eaten. Go to Scotties, look at the menu and order the plate that you would have never thought you would eat. Prices are outstanding. Service is good. The food is excellent. I will say that I am biased, in that I grew up eating the type of food and would drive a lot of miles to dine at Scotties.

I wish I tried this place sooner! Definitely a good spot to go to for breakfast/brunch. I was here on a sunday and right when I sit down, they bring over fruit and a muffin. I ordered the small breakfast and when the food came, my face was like O____O. The portions are huge! Even though it was a small breakfast, there was enough food for 2 people! What I really like about this place is you can ask for pancakes instead of toast! What a treat! I always wanted to just order 1 pancake, and here, I can! :D Will definitely give this place another try!

«Ahh shit here we go,» was exactly what I said when I found out this place was Island Style. Hawaii’n to be exact. It automatically reminded me of Gardena Bowl, here in LA, which serves up that bomb. This place is good… not great. My teri beef(teriyaki) was sorta thicker than I’m used to when I order it elsewhere, but it was nice because it was like a mini steak, and even had char marks… it was definitely flamed cooked, which was nice. Only draw back was it didn’t have very much of that teri flavor. I don’t need that shit drenched on there. but I want to be able to get a good taste of it. I plated the teri beef with rice and two eggs. Yeah, I’m an islander, I know. This place is cozy, maybe not the best, but if you can identify with that island style type of food and atmosphere, you’ll love it here. I did. I’d definitely come back.
