Decided to give this place a try. I usually go into San Jose for my pedicures. They had a great 20 special for a mani and pedi so I was pretty excited! The owner kept trying to talk me into gel but the gel leaves my nails so soft they can bend when you take it off! No thanks. She tried to talk me into it about 3 times! Not a great selection of nail polish but maybe because lots of people do the gel? The girl who did my hands was an older lady with glasses and she was very good. The girl that did my pedicure was new and the manicurist was telling her what to do in Vietnamese. I am sure she was nervous! She took her time and did a pretty good job. I wasn’t too happy with the polish though. After I left I noticed 2 nails had totally smudged! Ugh! Also she didn’t polish the top edge of the nail so it looks kind is weird. Overall I would try them again– the pedi and mani included a mini massage of the legs and arms! Very nice touch!

My sister speaks highly of this place. This is my first time at this nail salon and I received great service. At the time, there were plenty of open seats and available ladies, so I got my mani/pedi right away. Service is really great– they take their time with the cleaning, painting, and even massage! They massage your feet, calves, hands, arms, and neck/shoulders! The price is great too, $ 25 for both hands and feet! I’m definitely coming back whenever I’m in town visiting my family.

I was referred here for their Mon, Tues, Wed $ 20.00 mani-pedi special. Not sure what to expect — thinking it would be a «you get what you pay for» experience. It was ANYTHING but! Spa pedi included great lower leg massage with hot stones, hot towel, hot oil — SUPER relaxing. Mani included arms, hands, neck, shoulder massage. WONDERFUL! Went for the price — have been going back for the great mani-pedi!

I also live right across the street from Great Nails & Skin. I called and was able to get a same day appointment. Wendy was my nail technician; she put a full set of Gel with white tips on for me. The price was more than fair $ 25. She asked me how I like to have my nails done and then followed my instructions. Wendy kept checking to be sure we were on the same page. I have been to a LOT of nail shops in Santa Clara County, Dublin and Salinas, I would have to say my experience at Great Nails & Skin was one of the best I have ever had. My fingers are sensitive and I did not mention this to Wendy because I wanted to see if she was gentle or ruff. I am please to report that I did not have any pain during my appointment, the evening after, or the next day. If you are looking for a GREAT(pun intended) nail shop, I believe you will find Great Nails & Skin to be a positive experience and you do not have to break the bank to be more beautiful than you already are. Best wishes and thank you Wendy for a job very well done. Kasey G.

I live right across the street from this little salon, but tonight was the first night I went in for a pedicure. I’m so happy I did, it was a genuinely lovely experience. First of all, $ 15 for a spa pedicure. I’m used to paying twice that! You might think that for that price, they skimp out on the massage or something, but it was a full-fledged luxurious pedicure, complete with a scrub, lotion massage, hot stone massage, and hot towel. Soooo relaxing! It was about 5pm when I arrived and there were a few other patrons, but they took me right away which I always love. I was ready to relaaaaax. :) They have a fantastic polish selection, with lots of OPI(my fave!). I didn’t get the name of the woman who did my pedicure, but the polish looks wonderful, as do my feet. She was pleasant to talk to, but she didn’t try and talk to me the whole time, just enough to be friendly. The women there talk amongst themselves a bit, but I didn’t find it to be rude or anything like that at all. They all seemed so nice. :) I wish there was music playing though! However, there was a TV, so I’m assuming that’s normally playing something during the day. Hopefully something conducive to a peaceful ambiance! I hope more people give this place a try, they deserve the business. As I was paying a customer walked in and they all greeted her by name, so you can tell they work to build relationships with their customers. They also do facials and waxing, so I’ll have to come back for more services.

I just went there and although it was not bad; I cannot say I was excited about it either. The place is small and they try to keep it clean. I was worried(still) because I did notice there was not one person in charge of each customer. They kept rotation as to make sure everyone did something different. One person gave me a pedicure, another one a manicure and another one the massage that comes w/the pedi. I did not see anything being sanitized to be honest. I just don’t think I will be coming back here, will go back to the one I went before.

HORRIBLE. Easily the worst manicure experience I’ve ever had. I went in with a girlfriend of mine; she got gels and I got a manicure and a pedicure. L. said that the woman doing her gels didn’t bother to clean the nail remains from the previous customer off the table before setting to doing L.‘s; also, all the women use the same set of nail supplies(clippers, emery board, etc.) on multiple patrons, which is utterly disgusting. The gels are thick and poorly shaped(more trapezoidal than square). L.‘s gels were $ 20.00; the salon had signs up all over stating that as it was their two year anniversary, a paired manicure-pedicure would be $ 20.00; there were no caveats listed at all. As for my mani-pedi, not only did the woman doing my pedicure not inform me that a French pedicure would be $ 5.00 more than a single-color pedicure, she ignored a basic request(that she continue the base color of the pedicure up over the [overly thick] tips, so that it would look slightly more natural — though that’s hard to do with a pedicure that looks like it’s been done with white-out). When it came time to my manicure, the woman doing that(a different woman than who did my pedicure) again failed to inform me that it would be an extra $ 5.00, and again used instruments that she borrowed off someone else working there. She understood my repeated requests that the tips be very thin and delicate, but as she was using the ‘apply white-out colored polish and thin it out with polish remover’ style, the white smeared all over the bed of the nail. She was willing to polish the entire nail with the pale pink color, but didn’t make sure she covered all of the white, so now I have vaguely yellowy white patches amid vaguely pinky white tips. THEN when I was finally ready to go, she decided to tell me that it would be $ 30.00 plus tip for the least sanitary, ugliest French manicure — pedicure I’ve had in my life. I could have done a better, less-tacky job at home with a bottle of white-out(and I used to, in middle school, when white-out manicures were cool). Ugh. This place is terrible; go somewhere(anywhere!) else. ADDENDUM: it’s been four hours and already the paint is chipping!

This is a great family-run business! I can’t say enough about how nice all of the ladies are who work here. My mom and I come here frequently for pedicures and waxing services. We never have to wait long. The facility is small, but clean and neat. Highly recommended!

I’ve gone to plenty of nail salons in Gilroy and it is very safe to call Great Nails & Skin the best one I’ve been to. As the name implies, they do nails, waxing, and facials. I go for the pedicures, but I’ve heard others say great things about the other services they have. The very first thing I noticed about this place was how clean and organized it was. Cleanliness is an absolute must in a nail salon and this place definitely keeps up with that standard. The ladies here are so sweet and accommodating. They are always friendly and make it a point to ask you how you’re doing and make conversation. These ladies do an excellent and very thorough job on pedicures. I appreciate the fact that they always ask if I’m satisfied with what they’re doing. The best part of their pedicures are the foot/leg massage. The massage includes a salt rub, followed by a fantastic lotion massage and last but not least, a hot stone massage. Yup, you get all that included with your pedicure for no extra charge! The price for this wonderful pampering is $ 20 with french tips. Not bad at all! The quality of service here goes above and beyond the average nail salon. I’ve had nothing but wonderful experiences each and every time I’ve gone. Definitely give this place a try!
