Worth a stop if you are up in Gill. I was attracted by the raw milk cheeses which are ok but mild, not the flavor profile of European aged cheeses which I was hoping for. But not expensive either, and fine for everyday use. There are baked goods, preserves and local grains which you can grind in the provided Nutrimill.(Flour produced this way will be cheaper than the preground bags on the shelf.) In winter at least, there’s an honor system checkout which has been updated with a iPad and a Square credit card reader.

Uppingil is one of the nicest farms I’ve ever had the pleasure of visiting — super clean, with healthy animals and some of the most pleasant, knowledgeable and welcoming farmers. The boyfriend and I took a cheesemaking class with Clifford Hatch and learned so many things — a lot of which required me to tap into some store of chemistry knowledge I forgot I had. The class was very hands on and we even got to use our own goat milk(or you can also use their raw milk)! Cliff showed us how to test our milk and was a great resource for our cheese-related questions. In addition to cheesemaking, we saw Uppingil’s cows and did a little shopping at the farmstand. The cheese(particularly the Fontina and Gouda) is delicious, their cookies are addictive and the strawberry jam is tasty and so lovely I wished I’d photographed it. Have you ever opened a jar of jam and seen whole strawberries perfectly preserved? If you haven’t, then take a trip to Uppingil! P. S. — Contrary to older reviews — they do take credit card!

When it comes to fresh milk, cheese and vegetables, this farm is the place to go. We found this farm a few months back while traveling through the area and we can’t get enough of their goods. Whenever we come here we make it a point to buy some of their cheese which is incredible. They also have pick your own flowers throughout the spring and summer which is really great. Another nice thing about this farm is that they also host events on their property. For the longest time we thought about holding our wedding here because their property is so gorgeous. In the end, you need to stop at this farm to try out their fresh items. Just remember to bring small bills to pay for your items because their store is typically self serve with a money drop box. They do have change of need be.

I can’t believe no one has reviewed Upinngil Farm yet! Upinngil is an amazing place, yes, up in Gill! They are a family-owned dairy with a farm stand selling raw milk, vegetables, bread and breadmaking supplies, eggs, cheesemaking supplies, etc, etc, etc. It’s a beautiful drive, and definitely worth the trip. I have been driving up there every weekend to get my milk and eggs for the week. They also have local flour at great prices! The store is set up in a breezeway between the barn and the farmhouse. It It’s all self-serve, so bring a good assortment of bills or a checkbook. If you hear an eerie sound that’s just the toy train that runs around the perimeter of the ceiling. If you’re lucky you might see some cows out the store window. If that wasn’t great enough, they also have a friendly farmyard kitty. The milk is so, so good. If you haven’t had raw milk before you’ll be in for a treat. It tastes so fresh and clean, like pasture and sunshine. I have only bought food from their farm store, but they also have u-pick fruit in the summer.
