Gunstock Inn & Resort

Very disappointed that this establishment refused to abide by the laws of having a service animal and were extremely disrespectful about it.

Visiting here for a short weekend we got to experience all of what this Inn had to offer. The highlight of the trip was the complimentary coffee, locally brewed by Woodshed Roasting Co.
The rooms were tiny to begin with, but for an extra $ 20, a twin sized bed took up even more of the already crowded room.
Loved the idea of a salt water pool as an amenity, however the pool must have undergone some repairs that really hindered the experience all together.
The restaurant located on sight was delicious. I had the French onion soup, which is almost impossible to ruin, followed by a daily special of the thin crust pizza. My group was disappointed to find out there was no fridge located in the rooms, so our left overs were ruined over night.
The staff was truly friendly and made it feel like they were there for you. All things considered, I would not visit here again.

While visiting from DC we found this place. There is a little something for everyone.

The recently re-​opened and renovated Gunstock Inn as been a boon to the local community. Located on Cherry Valley Road (Route 11A) in Gilford, the Gunstock Inn houses a resturant, fitness club and spa (along with their hotel rooms). This review is for the restaurant Schusters tavern.
The restaurant has recently opened, and their menu is very diverse. Deciding to just opt for simpler fare, my wife had the veggie burger and I had the regular burger. The food was fantastic, especially the fries. Service was attentive and the waiter was very pleasant. All in all, a very pleasant experience and we will be returning there very soon.

For my first trip to Lake Winnipesaukee, I thought it would be a great idea to stay at a local hotel with a homey atmosphere and friendly staff. The Gunstock Inn is no such place. From the moment you pull up to the dirt parking lot you are hit with a musty odor of moth balls and what can only be compared to dirty cat litter. You walk through the front door, which appears to be falling off it’s hinges (probably from people leaving in a hurry) to be greeted by — oh wait, there is no one to greet you when you arrive. You stumble around the crooked, narrow hallways until you find an unprofessional receptionist that begrudgingly checks you into your room. Once you manage to find where your room is located amongst the unmarked doors and creepy old stuffed animals lining the walls, you are pleasantly surprised by a room overlooking a small grass patch where you find a few stray cats clawing to get in. Could this be where the odor of cat litter came from? I may never know. I spent 2 days at this hotel and every second spent inside it’s doors were miserable. There is no coffee at the continental breakfast. There are dangerous, shaky ladders with no railings leading up to the lofted beds. There are half-​eaten birdhouses in the rooms, probably occupied as well. Our screen door leading onto our rickety porch had a hole the size of a watermelon right in the middle. There are mysterious brown stains on all the linens. In the words of the receptionists, and I quote, «you are not a priority.» You left a pretty nasty impression if one of your guests felt compelled to make a Unilocal account specifically to warn other customers to stay away from your establishment. The only way I would ever spend any money on the Gunstock Inn ever again would be to see it torn down and replaced by a facility that values customer service, and well, cleanliness.

Cute little place, very cozy atmosphere. A bit too expensive for what it looks like, but indoor pool/​sauna were amazing. Simple breakfast foods. I’d go back if there was a deal!!!

What a GREAT place! It is an old fashioned family owned inn, with a beautiful view of the moutains. They have a FABULOUS 75 foot indoor heated pool — open YEAR round! They also have a gym as well.
They serve a nice continental style breakfast each morning (included in the room rate!), with cereal, breads, oatmeal, fresh fruits, etc. And they have a fantastic restaurant located on-​site, that has really tasty food! They also have wireless for your laptop as well.
Most importantly, the owners are the nicest people around — they take personal care to be sure that you specifically have a good visit! It is relaxing there, and very close to all of Lake Winapasaukies multiple attractions!
And, it is a great place to go year round — winter for the skiiers, spring-​summer-​fall for the rest of us!
I am very picky about what places I take my family too, but this place is very family friendly (although we used to go there all the time, before we had the kids — it is great for that as well!)
And it is a great value as well! Many of the rooms have a small refrigerator in them, and of course cable TV as well. And amazing walking and running paths, right there by the mountains. Superb views year round, especially in the fall! Also, when we went, they had a wedding up there, with the reception at the restaurant at the Gunstock Inn. And lots of the wedding party apparently stayed over at the Inn.
Highly recommended! I give it five stars!

This place is a bit funky. It’s a bit like staying in your great aunt’s guest room. It smells a little funny, the furnishings are old, the quilt on the bed is homemade. If you’re looking for a super friendly non standard place, this is great. If you are used to chain hotels you probably will be turned off.
